La Table de Provence was recommended to us by a local florist and we were not disappointed. It's on the corner of the pedestrianised street that leads down into town from the basilica and the hotel de ville, a bright exterior and a minuscule interior with half a dozen tables, jams, olive oil and other provencale products offered for sale along the walls. The patron cooks in the kitchen and it's presumably his wife who greets the clients and takes and serves their orders. That's the sum total of staff, and what an excellent job they do. We went there for an early lunch shortly after 12 noon. My wife chose confit of duck served with gnocchi, while I had blanquette de veau with seasonal vegetables. Both dishes were as hearty and delicious as you would wish. We bought a litre of olive oil for 13.50 euros, but even so the bill came to little over 50 euros for two. This was impressive value.

Me and my boyfriend were on a walk back to our campsite when we came across this little pizzaria. It was very cheap and had very fast service. Would deffo go here again!

Nice food, nice people, nice setting - what do you expect more of a restaurant. And with their nice tajines and couscous it's a welcome change from the usual provencal food you're used to get here.

This is the place to eat in St Maximin offering everything we needed in a restaurant. Staff were excellent bringing care, wit and efficiency to their service and the food was wonderful. We'll be back!

We came for dinner after seeing it on Tripadvisor. Not having made Reservations, the friendly owner/server showed us to a lovely little table for two in the garden. Straight away water and olives were served and we were given a run down on the menu, English/french pantomime style. The service is relaxed, friendly and spot on. We shared a 'brick' as a starter - delicious and crispy. We moved on to the oja du merguez and the lamb couscous. Honestly, our eyes were too big for our stomach but the leftovers were promptly packed away for taking home. It's a husband and wife run establishment and she definitely has her work cut out for her keeping up with a full house with only one server, but everyone was happy to wait an extra 5 minutes to be served in such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We'd absolutely come again.
Quiet partner would like to add the following - have driven from Paris and have stopped in many places. Have to say..this is the best meal we have had. We had to request take away because the food was soo good. I cannot wait for my midnight snack!

We had a large portion of scallop/veal starter and then a hake main course. Both nicely presented. There was a huge cheese board with the usual selection and also many goats cheeses. The restaurant was reasonably busy with French even on a dark winter evening. I would prefer that they provided salt and pepper on the table, individual tastes do vary and on the whole it was under-seasoned for us.

My wife and ate chicken there tonight with our teen age daughter. My daughter had sweet and sour, my wife had curry and I had spicy chicken.
They were all excellent! There was a special mushroom in 2 of the meals. I'd never seen it before. It was exquisite.
Only 2 people work there. He looks after the customers (very well) and she keeps the tasty food coming. He said they've had 30 people eating with all the different courses and she was able to keep up in the kitchen.
Our 3 meals cost 27 euros. We been traveling through Italy and the south of France. This was the best meal by far!
This towns claim to fame is Mary Magdalene's skull? Not any more. This restaurant has taken over!!

If you want fresh food and quality products, you shouldn't go there. Most of the dishes are industrial with just a little bit fresh salad, the same for everyone....Not a good experience. Having a lunch in the garden was the only positive experience.

Was staying in a hotel nearby. Started pouring down and was hungry. Went in for a bite to eat. The owner was charismatic and very accommodating. Sat with us and made us what we wanted to order, whilst also giving us samples of what he made fresh from the market and letting us know about the area. Was a nice 30 minutes and got a lot more than we had bargained for. His passion for food and life was second to none.
