Sabie is a forestry town situated on the banks of the Sabie River in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The name Sabie is derived from the Tsonga word "Ulusaba" which means fearful, it is derived from the name of the river. The Tsonga called this river Ulusaba ("fearful river") because the river was once teeming with dangerous Nile crocodile. The word Ulusaba was modernized by the Afrikaner colonialists who changed it from Ulusaba (Tsonga) into the Afrikaans "Sabie" .

Merry Pebbles Restaurant is an a la Carte' fully licensed restaurant. We do - steaks - pizza - trout - ribs - seafood as well as burgers.
I rarely eat Trout as most restaurants don't prepare and cook it properly but the restaurant at Merry Pebbles is the exception. The trout was moist and delicious and the ambience in the olde world restaurant added to the overall wonderful experience.Hi James, So glad you enjoyed the trout, it is one of our best selling meals on the menu! We really look forward to welcoming you back soon. Regards Leon

We saw the train and decided to pop in for pancakes....which is on everyone's menu in Sabie and surrounds.
Ww ordered The cinnamon and sugar classic pancake.
It was thick and no sugar in the dough st all....so quite tasteless without the icrecream and cinnamon sugar...but it was freshly made.
The restaurant has many areas to it and loads of antique things to keep you occupied.
Service was good even though it was electricity loadshedding (no power for some parts of the day). Because of this a cup of tea would take 10 to 20 minutes to make....

Warm. cozy and relaxed. Large deck outside with a lovely view over the Sabie valley and Mountains. We can accommodate large groups of people. We have a kiddies area and free Wi fi is available. We serve south African cuisine as well as pizzas, pasta, pancakes, and seafood. We cater for breakfasts and takeaways. All our food are freshly prepared. We cater for local people as well as tourists.
We went there to have a drink and and all the waiters refused to serve is. All the waiter ladies started speaking in their own language where they told each other they wil not help us and chased us away and said we must leave...MoreThat sounds very unlikely. One of the owners always lock themselves and we will never chase customers away. We will definitely investigate this . Please let us know on what date was this incident and at what time.

Stopped here during a road trip to have a quick lunch. Liked the craft beer. They had a good variety of beers which all tasted good. I liked the Dunkel and the Stout and my wife enjoyed the English ale. The food was average, typical...MoreDear SAFarmer, we are delighted that you enjoyed our locally produced craft beer and food and look forward to hosting you again soon. The SBC Team

Went for quick lunch. Toasted sandwiches presented differently - little wooden platter for the table. Good coffee. My dad says choc cake is really good. Coffee Shop is situated inside the 2nd hand bookshop. Love it!

Overcooked steaks with poor house wine. We orders our steaks, one rump and one T bone, to be medium. The house wine tasted like water and the steaks were overcooked to the extreme; tough and dry.

Zanos on Trichardt is a brand new restaurant situated centrally and conveniently in the Town of Sabie. On the same property as Sabie Retreats, close to the main routes. The homely tavern style restaurant with outside verandah and crackling fire place for those cooler evenings has a wonderful relaxing homely feel.Delicious home cooked traditional food will leave you satisfied and well fed.
This is a laid back, fresh restaurant situated under a giant fig tree. It provides a welcome shady coolness in summer. The service is impeccable and the food is pretty good too.Thank you, we appreciate your response.
