Bubbling mineral springs and pools promise maximum relaxation in Rotorua, on New Zealand's North Island. Therapeutic hot mud pools, dramatic geysers and a buried village are within easy reach of the city. What happens in the bubbling mud geysers of "Rotovegas"—the area at the top of Fenton Street—stays in Rotovegas. Once you've made the most of the mud, soar nearly 2,000 feet on the Skyline Gondola for views of Lake Rotorua, then zip back down to explore the lake by paddle steamer, fishing charter or WWII amphibious vehicle.

We visited twice for breakfast during a brief stay in Rotorua, the coffee was okay but the food was outstanding. We enjoyed eggs benedict with ham hock, which was huge! Perfectly poached eggs and acres of ham, yum. The second morning we had bacon bagels, again big portion with tomatoes and capers and scrambled eggs - sounds a bit odd? Try it :)

Where to look first, outwards, upwards or at the live chef displays... Set high on the side of Mount Ngongotaha, Stratosfare is the newest hot spot on Rotorua's burgeoning foodie scene. Luxurious Italian marble, granite, schist stonework and timber set the scene for a memorable experience where David Trubridge light frames your dinner setting for an evening that is sure to delight all your senses. Skilled chefs at their stations craft your cuisine, while cocktail connoisseurs mix and shake at the bar - and the sights don't stop - there's also an incredible 180 degree Panorama of Lake Rotorua and the city to soak in amongst the atmosphere. Did we mention the menu? A range of cuisine is presented to tantalize your taste buds, from the tidal mussel tank, ensuring the freshest mussels you can find, to the flame rotisserie, aged prime cuts, Art of the Grill, seasonal salads and the freshly cooked-to-order crepes, we are sure you will leave wanting to come back again and again. Featuring a stunning array of freshly prepared buffet and cooked-to-order dishes highlighting locally sourced seafood, meat and produce, Stratosfare will take you on a gastronomic journey. Our commitment to quality begins long before our produce arrives at our pinnacle site. We work in partnership with local NZ farmers and growers who share our commitment to food excellence, from the pasture to the plate. Our award-winning Wagyu Angus cross fillet steak is just one example. Our prime beef comes from 16,000 hectares of coastal farms near Gisborne. The people of Mangatu Farms have been working their ancestral lands for more than 200 years. They can tell us exactly where the beef has come from, how it was reared and what it was fed. It's the little details like these that set our dining experience apart. We think you will be able to taste the difference too. Last dinner booking 8.30Pm.
We were told about this by a local who described it as a great experience & he wasn’t wrong. We booked for our Saturday night dinner in advance & as the gondola ride is included (which normally costs $31) it means you get the chance to walk around & view all the activities as well as your meal. It happened to start pouring with rain when we were there, so we took shelter in the wine-tasting experience, (there are worse things to do on a rainy afternoon!) wonderfully led by Annie. There is so much to choose from, the challenge is to select those things you really want to sample, without peaking too early! Our server was Geraldine, who was charming and helpful, keeping a smile as she cleared away our Mountains of plates, thank you! We did hesitate at first as it was $57 a head, so not cheap, but when you consider how much you pay for a starter & main in a decent restaurant, not to mention the fact that here, you can go back & try as many dishes as you like/have room for, it was actually quite a bargain - in a lovely place with superb views. Go for it!

Being greeted with a friendly "Bonjour!" As you enter the Cafe de Paris is one of its unique charms. The French owners, Alain (from Lyon) and Valerie (from Pau) settled in Rotorua 12 years ago. They provide a wide variety of French cuisine and an all day breakfast with a very competitive price of $9.90 . You can taste their unique almond croissant or beef bourguignon. They offer savoury galettes (delicious crispy, buckwheat crepes, gluten free and organic) or dessert crepes both with a great range of authentic French fillings. It is the original French cafe in Rotorua where you can have the taste of authentic French food surrounded by some "ouh, la! La!" Or "Voila"...Alain and Valerie welcome you with Bonjour and you are the most welcome if you want to try your French.. Come and have a French experience without the jet lag....
Lovely little cafe in the centre of town. Great prices and good selection from the menu and in the cabinet.

I wanted to try some Maori cuisine and based on the reviews of this restaurant, decided to try the Mokoia restaurant which is at the Wai Ora spa resort. I am still drooling at the memory of the outstanding meal we had here.
The entrees all looked so delicious and I could not make up my mind so I opted to have 2 entrees instead of a main meal. Both entrees (the venison in plum sauce and the scallops) were delectable. The venison was so tender and cooked to perfection with a sumptuous sauce.
My husband had the salmon which he reported as thoroughly enjoying.
The ice cream trio that my husband ordered (but I ended up eating most of) was absolutely divine.
The service as well was attentive and professional.
The wine list was varied.
I also found for the quality of the meal here, the value was amazing.
Highly recommended and I will definitely return next time we are in Rotorua.

A range of continental breads and pastries baked fresh daily. Also a great lunch menu featuring "The Long Dog". More than just a bakery, we have amazing coffee aswell, plenty of cafe style Seating and great ambience.
We stopped by for breakfast and really enjoyed a chocolate croissant, cream-filled donut, and outstanding coffee Americano. We like the place enough to return for lunch to take away and ate it later on the road. Vika was a great sales lady and the breads are the best we found in Rotorua.
