Roseau (Dominican Creole: Wozo) is the capital and largest city of Dominica, with a population of 14,725 (as of 2011). It is a small and compact urban settlement, in the Saint George parish and surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, the Roseau River and Morne Bruce. Built on the site of the ancient Kalinago Indian village of Sairi, it is the oldest and most important urban settlement on the island of Dominica.

Small place with a very RUDE haughty, unpleasant, unfriendly manager named - SIMONE. Owner Jackie was off work.
After the ordered food arrived, we asked for the wifi password; Simone¸the supervisor became very uncooperative, downright hatful and mean; surely did not know the meaning of customer service nor common courtesy. Since the food looks bad and service was atrocious - we paid, got up and left. How this place got the rating of 11 out of 41 is unbelievable. No wonder there was no other customer at 10:30 AM when this place serves mainly breakfast and sandwiches.
No Tamarind, passion fruit or guava juice as they were not "in season (?)".
Avoid at all cost this business who hates tourists. Roseau seems not to like tourists.

The view from this cafe, over the river running from Trafalgar falls is gorgeous but we forgot that you wouldn't be able to see it at night, so the location was a bit of a bust for dinner.
Furthermore the restaurant seemed a big fan of "mood lighting", low wattage coloured bulbs that made seeing anything impossible.
The planteur punches were strong, probably half rum, sadly for the other half, despite fresh fruit growing on every road verge, it tasted of koolaid.
We had preordered our dishes so service was fast and the dishes were basically waiting for us.
The food was not fabulous, the goat curry and shrimp were completely interchangeable, sure the texture of the meat was not the same but that was the only difference between the two dishes. With the low light we couldn't see what else was on the plate. Maybe breadfruit.
The bill came it at 150 ECD which is not great value given what else is around. You can do better in the area for dinner.

Dine on fresh-caught fish, prawns (in season) or chicken prepared creole style with all the fabled spices of our island's rich cultural heritage. Sample exotic fruits and vegetables from the endless bounty of Dominica's organic Gardens. Drink fresh local fruit juices, Kubuli beer or our special 'Papillote' rum punch...open every day from 8AM 'til 6PM.Serving Breakfast and Lunch. Dinner by reservation
Influenced by the guidebook, we stopped here for a snack. Ordered a bunch of stuff, including the dasheen (taro) puffs (excellent) and a shrimp snack. The 5 very tiny shrimp cost us exactly $6 EACH. Wow! And the price on the bill was higher than the one on the menu. Wondered why that was the case - if you have a beautiful spot, a nice facility, terrific Gardens, and a chance to delight your guests - do you really have to be that unreasonable? This was the only place during our 2-weeks in Dominica that left us with really bad taste... Be forewarned. The staff is not enthusiastic at all - perhaps there is a reason...

Located on Roseau's Bay Front, Cocorico successfully blends food & drink with a kaleidoscope of color. Accompany your meal with freshly made fruit juice, a cocktail, an espresso or a homemade rum punch while gazing out across the Caribbean sea, either from inside the restaurant or outside on the Terrace. Fresh produce, fish and fruits are selected from the local market. Cocorico offers a selection of sandwiches, made from locally baked baguettes, baked fresh daily. Breakfast items include eggs, omelets, bagels and french toast. Lunchtime offers a variety of crepes, pizza bread, salads, sandwiches, pastas, as well as main course entrees like our coconut curry chicken, served with rice, beans, local salad & provisions. Wireless internet access is available.
Yvette and Rena greet you with beautiful smiles and a strong Dominican accent as the take your order from the menu, customise it to your tastes and and serve either in the restaurant or al fresco, as you watch the world fly by. its a place to bump into perfect strangers and become intimate friends, and that's exactly what we did. we met some amazing characters there, and it really felt like a family fest at times. again, fresh fish and local fruits and veg are the perfect start to the day, and we will miss this place dearly. Cannot wait to get back!

We ate here three times, and each time we commented on how fresh-tasting and scrumptious the food tasted. We had various meals, consisting of things such as fried plantain, salad, fish, and various meats. They have a few cooks but the standard of the meals remained consistently high.
The service we experienced was prompt and attentive.
The atmosphere was relaxed and casual. When we were there, there were tourists and locals dining, but the menu was, in my opinion, predominantly based on Dominican based foods.
If you are ever in Roseau near to Fort Young, then you may want to give this eatery a go.

Sunshine Cottage in only 10 minutes away from the Capital of Roseau, on the main road to the beautiful Trafalgar Falls. Sunshine Cottage offers a unique an private mountain view. We are pleased to serve you fresh, organically grown vegetarian and/or vegan dishes only ! We recently just added a cottage to rent on the same site as the restaurant, by the same name: Sunshine Cottage is a modern, well built, cosy and comfortable house in the middle of the rainforest of the Roseau Valley. It has two bedrooms with Queen size beds, one bath with Italian shower, a cosy living room and open plan kitchenette (with sink, coffee/tea maker and fridge). The Cottage and the Restaurant are surrounded on all sides by the rainforest, tropical flowers and many different fruit trees. It's the perfect place to relax, reconnect with nature and with one another or simply live life !
My husband and I made our way to Sunshine on a Saturday evening. We are living in Dominica for the year and this is the best meal we've had in the country to date. I wrote more here: http://thestudyandthestudio.blogspot.com/2014/06/sunshine-cottages-and-restaurant.html The locally sourced food showcased Dominica's...MoreIt was very nice to meet you and your husband and I'm so pleased you enjoyed your evening at Sunshine Cottage restaurant. Many thanks for your kind review and see you again in fall

Was in Roseau as it was a port of call on the Queen Mary 2. Spotted this place and thought, that looks fun. Went back on the ship and dragged my mother to the Café. Really different and Caribbean inside with lots of colour and reggae music playing. We didn't know what to drink, so the lovely waitress said she would concoct something for us. A rather large bamboo cup came with rum punch in it. Myyyyyyyyy worrrrrd. Incredible. The depth of flavour was to die for. Plus great value for money alcohol volume wise! The waitress wouldn't tell us what she put in it, secret recipe.
We had a great time and nearly missed the boat, literally, but we managed to stagger back to the ship with a wonderful memory of the café. If you are anywhere on Dominica, you must go here! You wont be disappointed!

The LOFT is the only full menu Seafood Restaurant in Dominica located right on the water and just a 5 minutes walk south of the main cruise ship port in Roseau. Join us for lunch and/or dinner and ask what fresh came off the boat. Mega Bite, the Deep Sea fishing charter boat, goes out almost every day and brings in fresh fish that is served on the menu. Our goal is to satisfy our guest with delicious and satisfying dinning experience.
We had lunch here and we will be back this week for dinner. They have the menu on a chalk board with a variety of local flavoured dishes. Both our dishes were delicious.
We were seated outside in the shade of some trees with a view on the bay and the beach. Caribbean style deluxe.
They also serve an exellent espresso. This is a place to remember.
