You know you are in the right kind of place when you ask for a wine recommendation and the waiter suggests one of the cheapest items on the menu. This restaurant is the perfect stop-over on the way to the French Riviera if you're looking for simple, typical, well-priced French food along with a good bottle of wine from the Rhone valley. The "ravioles" (small stuffed pasta) are a specialty of the town (we had the ones with the "cepes" mushrooms). Lamb and cheese were excellent. Friendly service.

Close to the Jacquemart tower, in the city center of Romans / Isere ; The Nature Gourmande restaurant serves fine, delicate cuisine of warm and caring way in a cozy room with shades Nature ...
On our first driving trip to France, 35 years ago, by the second meal my wife commented: "if the food isn't this good in heaven, we are not going." We have been to many fine French restaurants in the last third of a century-from the three star Michelin temples-to modest bars and bistros in villages and working class Neighborhoods. It is possible to get a bad meal in France, but you have to work hard at it. Only the rankest tourist areas take pleasure in trashing the nation's culinary patrimony.
What we have come to like best are simple places that try very hard and achieve exceptional results. This is the kind of husband and wife establishment where they have put their heart and soul into the enterprise; there is considerable talent and passion, respect for the finest local produce and they all show. The setting is stylish if lean: rattan chairs, tables covered in lovely lemongrass green linens.
On a Saturday night they were booked solid-a large table of 12, a table of 5 and two deuces. Yet our hostess kept everything moving along, gracefully and graciously. We opted for a 3 course menu at 35 or so Euros each, and a bottle of Bandol Rose at a similar price. All three courses were assembled with great attention to detail, with a complex combination of flavors and delivered on attractive plates or flat stones in a very harmonious array.
No doubt, if we lived in or near this town-we would be regulars. Of course, we have had fancier meals, and perhaps a number that were more of a revelation. But this evening there was no venue we would rather be in, watching the local burghers enjoying themselves and knowing we were in a very good place. We will remember the meal for a very long time and hope to return. From our experience, the chef is very skilled in preparing both poultry and fish-and especially, lovingly, vegetables.

When visiting Les Cedres I quickly understand this is not only food, this is a passion, this is proud, the Chef tells you a story from the kitchen thru the serving , takes you at a journey thru different dishes, starters, main, Deserts and the small neutralizers between before under and after. Our story this day was about the “black truffle” the truffle was present, I think inn almost all dishes inn one or another way used with a perfect balance and perfection. Those people still searching for the perfect story must make a visit. All the ladies and the gentlemen at Les Cedres that make this happened, you can be proud! To my French colleagues, merci beaucoup.

Our group had a delicious dinner. Each course was wonderful. The ravioli Romans was extraordinarily good as was the fish on the fixed price menu. The dessert platter was an array of decadent treats. Enjoyed every bite!

Our daughter who had enjoyed two previous visits, took us for lunch.
The menu detailed all its (local) suppliers, bio credentials everywhere, and the wine list was impressive. Things looked good. Sadly disappointment was heightened by raised expectations.
Menu du jour taken. Feuillte de poireau with smoked trout alright, and Veloute tasty but not generous. Daughters Merlu seemed very nice. Civet de cerf so salty as to be inedible, but as we were our daughter's guests we persevered. Wife and grandson soon gave up. I had Waited 50 minutes for second course to arrive despite meals requiring very little cooking, and was very hungry and with much bread to reduce the salinity got through it . Later No bread offered with fromage sec but brownies and ice cream alright. We should have summoned the chef there and then, but British reserve prevented this.
Complaint was made and fault explained that civet becomes more concentrated, i.e. more salty as day goes on! So cooking the stew was not the reason for the delay! Others had also said it was too salty, apparently. Daughter sought reduction for 2 half eaten portions but only nominal allowance made from €29 mdj charge, viz €8 and no charge for water and one iced tea.
