The Café de Paris is a restaurant-bar-lounge with two terraces on the Laguna Gri-Gri. Mark, the manager is French at Southern accent who knows greet customers with good humor and strong personality! Sports fan, you can watch the screens all important matches around the block or tapas special Café de Paris (rum and raisins), a hamburger, a local dish or a fish caught the day its special "Cordon Bleu".
I recently experienced Cafe De Paris during our stay in the DR last month. It is a quaint open-air restaurant overlooking the picturesque Laguna Gri Gri right in the village of Rio San Juan. While we did not sit at the location for dinner, we did order and carry out. Even so, the attention and service we received was excellent. I had been introduced to the Proprietor, Marco, on the street a couple of days earlier and he immediately remembered me as we entered the restaurant. While we waited for our meal, drinks where brought to the table. We also found out that they offer a Delivery service to our villa complex! The food was excellent, portions large and value excellent too. Incidentally, on a separate outing to Laguna Gri Gri prior to going scuba diving, my dive master asked if I would like to try the best Dominican coffee on the island- of course I said yes, and we walked across the street to Cafe De Paris where we were served the best Dominican coffee by the lovely Genesis on the morning shift. I had coffee there every morning after that!

Excellent place and peaceful environment. Truly superb food and great service from the owners. Pricey but worth it. I love it every time I go.

When I looked for restaurants in Rio San Juan this little place did not come up online. What a shame! They are really slow when it's low season but what a great for us. I dated this as 5 stars for several reasons. First of all (and most important) the good is delicious. Secondly, it is fresh; nothing is kept in the restaurant because they are so slow so everything gets bought right after you order. There are several fisheries just around the corner and that's when the seafood comes from. I had never had octopus that good! Further, this place is Dominican owned and operated and for this it gets extra points because the customer service was exceptional. The whole place is simple but well kept and clean. You get a view from just about every table and you are surrounded by tropical plants ; this certainly makes for a nice atmosphere. It is situated deep in a local neighborhood-not on the main strip so you really get a feel for what the local life is like. Don't let this deter you- this town is tiny and nothing is far you can easily get here by t ow even vehicle. There will be three handmade signs guiding you along as well. The restaurant is on the second floor.

For Dominican standards, the food is overpriced. Average quality. Terrible music (in my opinion). In general a disappointing experience and I'm not picky at all. The restaurant next to the "Central Park" (La Esquina del Sabor) is 10 times better, 10 times cheaper and 10 times more authentic. Petit futé and Routard are maffia and make you believe that it's all amazing because the owner is French.

Fresh fish and seafood, good meat. The cherry on the cake is this french choucroute, how in paradise can you get such a renowned meal lost in the hills of Rio San Juan? The manager is friendly and even the chef is not grumpy. Missing a bit of good wines, but we are in a beer country.

We were there in August 2016, no tourists, sunny weather, calm and peace. However the water is not really clean. The service was good, the waiter informed us what they have and what do they recommend, so the choice was easy. It looks like a good place even with children, absolutely recommended to visit at least for a day!

Oscar has a Bar, a Carwash (aka. Disco), and a Pizzeria in his compund on the side of the main road going through Rio San Juan....And tucked in behind the Pizzeria lies a wonderful Gastro surprise! Oscar and Ruth are there to take care of you and their Dominican style cooking is excellent..great ingredients beautifully perpared! You need to be watching out for the sign as you drive through Rio San Juan, otherwise you may whizz by and miss a delectable and delightful experience!
