Driving thru town on our way to St. Gertrudes Monastery, check that review out, and happened upon Kate's Cattleman Restaurant. Don't let the appearance worry you, inside you will meet Kate. This woman was amazing! She graduated with a masters degree in piano performance from Julliard School of Music in NYC. She was widowed very young and raised 5 children alone. She stopped and talked with us for awhile and shared some of her life story. You will want to hear her. You will want to hear how wise she was raising 5 children alone.
We ordered her delicious prime rib sandwich and returned the next day on our way home from the monastery for more of Kate's wisdom and delicious prime rib. She remembered us right down to "no carrots" in Frank's salad! And the salad was made with greens and veggies from her own garden out back!
I'm short on time to give more detail...Kate has one more year to run her restaurant because "she never quits anything she starts" and she said she'd have the restaurant for 10 years. This is year 10 then you will find her in Mexico on a house boat just fishing! Go Kate!!!

When we say fresh roasted coffee, we mean it. Stop in and watch coffee being roasted on site by a pro. Then check out our gift shop. Simple and great breakfast menu, sandwiches, nachos and ice cream (seasonal). All natural smoothies. Specialty blended coffees (or frap if you want to call them that :)
Stopped on a really hot Sunday afternoon for an iced coffee and some AC. Ended up getting a blended Mocha coffee special which was excellent and hit the spot.
They have a nice little place and the staff is very friendly. There is parking on the side of the building but not much shade.

Traveling toward Montana from the Boise, Idaho area. Great burger! Good and fast service. Fresh, not frozen, meat. Fresh veggies on it, too. Chilli and the soup of the day are homemade. Long list of milkshake flavors. Not a huge place, but outdoor tables in the front and back. Nice non-chain food place to grab lunch/dinner. They are closed in the winter months, starting in November.

Summerville's Cafe is a long standing Riggins eatery that maintains the quality we always look for. Menu is varied and it is now a non smoking establishment which makes for a much more pleasant experience, Steaks are top notch.

My brother, who goes to Riggins to hunt, told me about this Inn. It was as restful and beautiful as he described. The inn sits above the Salmon River, in the small town of Riggins. The coffee they served, along with waffles, eggs, etc., was excellent. We roamed around town that evening. Beautiful.
