We are a traditional English country pub, surrounded by spectacular views four miles from the nearest town of Richmond. We pride our selves on good traditional bar meals made from locally sourced ingredients. we also have Six letting rooms comprising of four double rooms with on suite bathrooms, one family room which has one double and two single beds to accommodate a family of four with on suite bathroom, all of witch have showers only in the bathrooms and we also have an Annex which has its own separate living room, bedroom, kitchenette with fridge and microwave, and bathroom with shower over bath.
We had a lovely evening meal at the SoM on Saturday night in a very relaxed atmosphere that epitomises the olde worlde charm of this fine old Inn. The drinks were very good and we enjoyed the Dortmunder Union on Draught and the fine wine list. The menu is extensive both bar and restaurant can be ordered from wherever you choose to sit. All the food is freshly cooked to order and is good hearty Yorkshire fair. We had the prawn cocktail and crab to start followed by a mixed grill and pan fried salmon for mains all of which were very tasty and well presented. The service was very good as was the reasonable bill at the end. The period interior decor has not changed much over the many years we have visited the SoM , but it does`nt need to and is fine just the way it is. Good Scran , Good Beer and a cracking view !. We will return soon.

It has an ideal situation on the market square in the pretty market town. It looks inviting and traditional form outside. Inside the display of cakes (all home made) is impressive as is the menu and specials board. People were feasting on breakfast platefuls that looked good and were reasonably priced. There is till work to be done on service. The staff were friendly but a little disorganised so that service was much slower than necessary. It was still acceptable. Cakes and coffee and tea were all excellent but I saw people waiting a long time for cooked food. With luck they will improve service, neaten that badly fitting carpet where it looks like the pace has expanded into an adjoining property and neaten up the route to toilets! Worth a visit for the food and coffee and fingers crossed that it is ironingourt the fairly small issues on service.

Take a stroll down Finkle Street, Richmond, and you'll discover a little piece of England that will remain forever French. In February 2016 the restaurant has undergone an extensive refurbishment! Our carefully selected wine list, seeks to complement the dishes on offer, boasting a wide range of French and New World wines. Also concentrating our efforts on quality wines from an array of French regions and around the world to complement your food. As a result Rustique continues to be a favourite in the wide area amongst the residence and tourists. To experience exceptional 'service a la française' in the heart of England, visit Rustique.
We came here for lunch to celebrate my Mum's 60th birthday. We sat in the outdoor section, which is actually indoor with full windows above, so it feels like you're outside. The heating and natural light (and the painting of Paris on the wall) really made it feel as though we were abroad. The food was lovely and the service was great. If you're in Richmond make sure to give it a try! They also have good veggie options.

A lovely laid back pub, suitable for all occasion...
A friend of mine recommended The Heifer to me and I was definitely very impressed. The cosy setting and friendly service made for a great evening. The food was of great quality and a decent portion at competitive prices. I thoroughly enjoyed my night put and would recommend it to anyone.

Great pub, great and stunning walk up to it, great food and drink and staff. Arrived at 13:59 and they stop serving food at 14:00 but the great bar staff got us served quickly with some lovely pub food and high quality pints. Great price as well! Highly recommend it!

Was staying nearby for a short break, chose this place simply as the first Indian we found when looking round market place. Very friendly and welcoming. I'm vegan and my request to have my dish cooked without ghee was responded to very positively. My veg Madras was delicious, lots of different veg in instead of the usual frozen mixed veg you usually get in Indians. Hubby had chicken tikka masala and he said this was lovely. Would visit again if in area.

Staying in the area for a Christmas break, we were recommended this pub restaurant by our cottage owners and were not disappointed. The place was heaving, as you would expect, and our table for two was a little squashed into a corner, but otherwise it was a very enjoyable experience. We had pre-chosen off their Festive Menu and my choices of Butternut Squash and Feta Filo Rolls, followed by Braised Shin of Beef, with an Apple and Raisin Crumble Tart to finish were all delicious. My husband had the Local Game Terrine to start with which he really enjoyed. He felt his Roast Pheasant Crown was spoilt by the meat still being on the bone, but otherwise it was very tasty. All in all we were pleased we had taken the advice to visit here.

Nestled in the heart of a beautiful village, Gilling West - Richmondshire, bordering the Yorkshire Dales. Our vision is to blend the modern with the traditional and provide a platform to showcase the region... Local produce, local products, local people. Provenance and quality is key to everything we do. Serving excellent, locally produced artisan ales and craft lagers. Some of the world’s best bottled beers and excellent wines, from the finest growers. All expertly kept by our cellar-man. Our drinks are accompanied by a creative menu. All dishes are lovingly prepared using traditional, local ingredients of the highest quality...fully traceable to our producers. We believe a pub is about more than the food and drink it serves. It is about the welcome, comfortable surroundings, conversation, ambience & atmosphere... A pub is about family, friends, the people and the interaction of society around it. We said we wanted to showcase the region and its products, this includes our artists, sculptors, craft workers and musicians. Above the open fire and in the corner of our stable yard, you will find a diverse and distinctive range of artwork, photography, sculptures and crafts, epitomizing the regions talent. All of which can be purchased as a memento of your visit to the region... We want you to get together at ours & enjoy your stay!
We visited here on Friday 22nd December 2017 for dinner at 6.30pm, having been recommended by our Host at our b&b. The atmosphere was really good, the staff very nice, but the food was not brilliant. I had a burger which was very small for the price and my partner had fish, which again was tiny!! The chips were awful! Really soggy which we hate and we were so excited about the fact they were supposed to be crispy and lovely. All in all quite expensive for not a lot. The pudding was the best part. Won’t be going back.
