my frnds are from Ratnagiri and this place is highly recomended for those travelling to Goa.its not a regular bus stop,so u wont find the place infested with noisy travelers.
what a revelation especially after a tiring drive from a hectic goa trip.
this time i was with my family.we ordered the veg and non veg thali.absolute treat, welcome change from the goan cuisine.
we feared this would be a fiery variety of curry, but were pleased by a well balance curry.
the veg thali is super for someone coming from Goa,n a real place for Marathi style cooking.tender parathas, daal, sabji, curry and curd.clean simple
the fish thali came recommended as the surmai had just arrived and was nothing short of an excellent preparation that had us going for more.
thali had a sumptuous plate of plain rice,a piece of surmai in curry and two pieces of deep fried rawa layered surmai ..chilled water, spacious Seating, clean washrooms and a meticulous kitchen..for a mumbaikar im impressed as this is great place to relax before heading back home

Whether you are going to have a business lunch, romantic dinner date or just a drink after a busy day, Drive Inn Carnival will always meet your needs. Our luxury restaurant offers not only keenly price lunch and dinner menu but also breakfast menu specially created by our chef including a variety of seasonal offerings. You can also enjoy unwind over a cup of coffee or another drink of your choice in the bar on the first floor. We also host live match screenings at our Open to sky Bar. We have an independent pure veg restaurant for the needs of some. Our kitchens for those are totally separate too!!
Good ambience and hospitable staff. Had chicken dum biryani and it was delicious. Have tried other dishes and seafood too and it's nice. Located at the prime location.... Good for family and friends.

This hotel offers just the basic amenities, as all other hotels in this small coastal town. The rooms are AC, hot water is available. There is no breakfast spread, you will be given one fixed snack and tea/coffee. It is located in the heart of the town,Thiba Palace is very close and so are other major attractions

This is a nice restaurant famous for its non veg cuisine. We had visited this place for our lunch. Chicken and Fish thali were delicious. They don't accept credit or debit cards.

Hello everyone
Ratnagiri is my Native Village and i have been traveling there since my childhood.
Hotel Datta Cafe is situated opposite Radha Krishna Theatre. (near Ratnagiri Bus stop)
The look of this place will take u back in the 80's.
This place serves the best Misal Pav ever. You may try other Marathi specialties like Kurma puri, vada pav. But my favorite ls the Misal Pav.
If you r traveling to Ratnagiri this is a small cafe u must try.
Cheers

You will get the chance to taste the food dishes you have never heard or seen before cooked in Ratnagiri style. The restaurant is situated on the seaside where you can enjoy the food looking at the sea waves, hearing the roaring noise of it in the breeze. 100% taste, quality & satisfaction guaranteed; once you visit us you will fall in love with our food...

The restaurant is relatively new in Ratnagiri, so it is not available on google map. The landmark is next to Pramod Mahajan Krida Sankul.
The resto serves a variety of fish food with very good taste.
The Seating is slightly congested, but thats how a dining hall is constructed. There is no separate arrangement for family Seating, but its not required here!
All fish items good here, but my recommendation is to try Kolambi Curry & bangada fry

On the road to Ratnagiri few kms before Ratnagiri station & opposite the all India broadcasting station, amidst a new developing real estate project lies a restaurant. Mahalaxmi, like an oasis in a dessert, this is a tough spot to miss on the dry arid road.
The restaurant writes " food cooked on domestic brazier ( chulivarche gharghuti jevan) ". Walked in expecting a smoky and black walled place.
To my surprise this was a well lit, aired spic and span place. One wall covered with images of food as Terrace opens on the highway. As I sat along for lunch on a warm sunny day with my partner the well covered Terrace of the restaurant enveloped us with the cool pleasant ambience.
The service is pronto, right from the temperature of water to be served to the end of the meal.
No wild guests this place is famous for seafood.
The order is placed & sumptuous meal arrives. For starters had ordered the bangda ( Mackrel) fry . The fish though served only one piece, was quite a meat on the bone. One was good enough as a starter for 2 ppl. Comes neatly decorated with tomatoes and wedges of lime. As you bite in cautiously thinking it's a fried item. You are in for a surprise, with so less oil used . The crisp skin and moist flesh let array of textures and flavours on your palate. A perfect balance of crisp, moist, spice sour & hotness is a true sucess for any starter. The fish is so tender and fresh that you can smell the sea in it.
The mains arrive. Sukkha chicken Thaali.
The sukkha chicken which literally means dry dish ( it does look also dry). Is basically a tender meat dish cooked with onions and coconut. To my surprise not at all spicy.
It comes served with Bhakri ( Indian flat bread) a gravy, rice and Sol Kadhi. The combination of tender meat sweetness from the onions, spice from the gravy, the roughness of the Bhakri and aromas of smoked wood transfers you into a different world. The experience that cannot be jotted but has to be experienced, compared to none. To finish the meal with Sol Kadhi is reminisce of moms cooked food. At the end if the meal hands join in to thank as words spill out of the mouth " Annadatta Sukhi Bhava " ( let the one who provided me the food be always happy). As the meal is finished and we await the bill, a young lad in his 30's arrives ( Gaurav) the proprietor to check for satisfaction. As he escorts us out and I compliment him for the wonderful dinning experience, he points at the house adjacent where he resides with his family. A lady sits on a swing in a large porch as he points her to be the " ANNAPOORNA" of the family. I fold my hand & bow my head to her and a faint smile comes as a blessing.
I cross the arid road in the harsh reality of life & sit in the car as I read the name of the restaurant again " Mahalaxmi ". Truly an abode of love, care , nurture , food, pampering.
Another abundance of wealth, but this time on the other side of the Ghats
