I had only eaten here once before and it was excellent....this trip, not so much, although their sauce is really very good. I just wanted a quick sandwich and a drink and opted for the Tri-Tip Sand. Ample amount of meat and sauce but the meat this trip was over cooked, a little tough and very dry in spite of being slathered in sauce. I'll give em another chance next time I'm in the area

Charm Thai Kitchen

I had lunch at Charm Thai Kitchen. It is located in a small strip mall. The decor is pretty trendy and it looks more like a craft beer bar than a thai restaurant. They have seating outside also. The place was pretty crowded for lunch but quite a few people were getting take out. It took a while to get our food ordered but when it came, it was pretty good. It is one of the better Thai restaurant in the Rancho Bernardo area and I would definitely go back. Besides they are next to the Edelweiss bakery so you know where you can get dessert

Cotija's Mexican Food

We were visiting friends and had a late lunch at this location. Best carnitas I have ever had in my life. The food is cooked by someone who knows how to cook. The pork was soft & crunchy on the outside. I just had it plain so I could add the hot sauce to each bite. The hot sauce bar with jalepeanos was a nice touch that was unexpected. A must try with large portions for great value. What is not to love...

Restaurant brewery and winery in one. Had reservation and was quickly seated. Saw item in menu I wanted but couldn't have because hostesses gave us lunch menus. Place itself is In sort of strip mall gps actually let me pass it. Anyway hard place to rate. Part wants to say 5 part wants to say 3. Food was good the selection was not. Only 7 entries to choose from. NY steak $38 comes with 2 sides but you can choose between 4 vegetables. Ended up with seared scallops on risotto. It was excellent but like tapa size only 3 scallops. Wife had Lamb sugo again very good but tapa size portion. Pork belly app was just as big as entree and very good. Place needs to add a few more entrees and some more sides evaluate its portion sizes and it adjust prices.

The Incredible Egg

Reviewed By Christina I - Freeport, New York

My fiancé and I came here for breakfast on our last day visiting San Diego. Right off the bat I knew we picked a good place to eat! The gentleman who took us to our seat was so friendly and welcoming as well as our waitress. Smiles go a long way!

We ordered the Steak and Eggs plate as and the Strawberry and Banana Crepes. We requested M for our steak but it was more on the MW side, but it was so delicious I didn't mind. The crepes were what I'm calling "healthy crepes" as it was just sliced up fruit wrapped in a crepe (whipped cream on the side but my fiancé ate that). I'm used to a more creamy syrupy crepe but I'm happy the way this one came out as it didn't make me feel so guilty. Sitting in the outdoor area to eat this meal was the icing on the cake.

Beautiful day, welcoming staff & delicious meal made our last day in San Diego wonderful!

Everything is really good, but they do an especially fine job with the apple and blueberry fritters. Doughnuts are 85 cents each or $7.95 a dozen. Specialty items cost a little more. There are all sorts of beverage choices, and five tables in case you want to enjoy your selection(s) immediately. Worth the drive.

This was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a LONG time. We were staying at the hotel basically across the parking lot, so it seemed like a convenient option. It turned out to be a nightmare.

We were seated and our waitress asked if we had been there before. Nope. So she started trying to explain how it works, except that she was mumbling, not looking straight at us, and often using words that I seriously believe were another language. When she walked away, we both looked at each other and said HUH?

We went up to what appears to be a buffet line where they have bowls that you fill with whatever ingredients you want to eat. We were both a bit shocked that all of the meats/proteins were FROZEN. They were all sliced extremely thin and frozen to the point of being hard as a rock. This was not "normal" for the Mongolian grills of our past. My husband actually asked me if I wanted to leave at that point, but we stayed.

After selecting proteins and veggies to fill the bowl, you then have to try to put noodles in your bowl. This becomes a challenge and it was quite entertaining to watch the "technique" that some people had at piling the noodles on top of their already over-filled bowls. Many noodles were sliding off and just hitting the floor.

Next, you reach the sauces and spices. There is a guide which tries to explain how many servings of each sauce you should get based on the spice level that you desire. Remember that for later!

Finally, you stand in line and wait your turn for the cooks to put your custom bowl on the grill to cook it all up. It is ONE grill and the food is tossed/flipped in a circular motion around the grill. This is the MAIN issue - everyone's bowl of food is cooked the same way.....which means that even if you selected sauces for your bowl that were not spicy, if the bowls ahead of you had spicy sauce, then you're going to end up with it too!!! Additionally, if you have any food allergies (as I do), then you cringe when you see the person's bowl ahead of you that is filled with onions and peppers. It's common sense. If onions and peppers are cooked on a grill surface and then slid around the circular area, then MY bowl of food is placed on that same grill surface, I am essentially getting all of my food seasoned with those onions and peppers.

I wanted to ask the cooks if there was a way to grill my food on a separate surface or at least wipe down the grill before they took my bowl, but they were SO rude. It was clear that they were just there to cook and not offer any customer service.

So yeah, we ended up back at our table, took one bite of our food, and gave each other "the look." Please keep in mind that my husband is VERY adventurous with food and has no food allergies or picky preferences. Even he hated the way his food tasted. Our waitress came by and he asked for the bill. She did not bother to ask us what was wrong or why we were not eating. After she dropped off the bill, she disappeared and never came back to our table again. We had to go find someone else so we could pay $30 for NOTHING except a nightmare experience and 1 bite of food.

We ended up going to another restaurant to eat after we left. Expensive lesson!!!

Pamir Kabab House

Reviewed By SoCalMember - San Diego

Pamir Kabob House is one of the best additions to the Rancho Bernardo food scene in many years. Pamir is an outstanding Afghani Restaurant owned and operated by Noor and Diba Amiri. My wife and I love Afghani food but haven’t had much to choose from. Last week we gave them a try and were we ever pleased! Their lamb stews are incredibly tender and the spices are blended to perfection. The stew we liked best was qabeli palow which has a complex, tomato-based broth which my wife and I greatly enjoyed. We also ordered kofta curry which consists of spiced beef meatballs served in a rich dark sauce . I find Afghani kofta superior to all other national versions of the dish and Pamir’s version is just outstanding! Pamir is located in a hidden corner of the Bernardo Center but is well worth the effort to find. The ambience is tasteful and subdued, the service prompt and the price quite reasonable. We look forward to visiting Pamir Kabob house again soon and trying other menu items that sound mouthwatering.
