Puerto Barrios (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈpweɾ.to ˈβa.rjos]) is a city in Guatemala, located within the Gulf of Honduras. The bay in which the harbour is located is called Bahia de Amatique. Puerto Barrios is the departmental seat of Izabal department and is the administrative seat of Puerto Barrios municipality.

The Safari Restaurant is seafood restaurant on the waterfront with a very good menu to choose from. I had fish fillet and fries for lunch. I felt the food was excellent and the service very good. The atmosphere was quite. I talked to a local family that was eating a variety of seafood dishes which they were thoroughly enjoying. Especially did their young daughter like the ceviche which looked delicious. I will definitely eat there again when in Puerto Barrios.

What a view and nice service at this fish joint at the end of a pretty sketchy stretch near the Commerical port of Barrios.
Ice cold beer, and delicious fried fish. Skip the nachos and guacamole as they're very much like one would find at a Texaco gas station.
Service was very helpful.

We stopped at the Hibiscus on our return to Santo Tomas from the Quirigua ruins. It has a nice little cultural museum attached and is co-located with a plantation/botanical garden. The prices seemed reasonable and the facility was clean and well organized. The staff was very courteous. This establishment can accommodate handicapped folks.
If you are looking for an excursion a short distance outside Santo Tomas this is the place.

Great little restaurant! Brilliant selection of antipasti, meats, veggies, olives!! Very reasonably priced with fantastic service. We had a great chat to the owner, went for olives and came away with recommendations of places to visit in Mexico!!
Unfortunately there wasn't any cold white wine, but if you're thinking of heading here call ahead and they'll be happy to put one in the fridge ready for you!

This place is next door to the boat jetty and juts out into the water to give some excellent views across the bay. However, when you approach it from the roadside, it doesn't look at all inviting. You walk down a long wide corridor from the entrance and it's a bit bleak, until you reach the large restaurant area which juts out into the water. Even then the central area is bare with only tables around the outside to give everyone the advantage of a water view. This probably reflects the number of visitors really as Puerto Barrios does not strike me as being a great tourist stopping off place. More of a passing through town. We took a table overlooking the water and it was really nice. A young lady came out of the kitchen area and served us and she was very pleasant. Now don't expect full waiting staff. This was more of the kitchen people running the service also and if you needed anything then you just gave them a call. As we had spent the morning sorting out our boat tickets and the immigration border crossing requirements ( we were taking a boat across to Punta Gorda in Belize ) it was virtually lunchtime so I went for the burger and fries. Great choice. The serving wasn't huge but the taste was great. We had some coffees and soft drinks and spent a nice hour enjoying the views and waiting for our ferry. The ladies who served us were quiet but friendly with it and nothing was too much trouble. The cost was really inexpensive, which we probably expected but we had a good time. Probably not a place I would visit in the evenings but great for what we needed. It's a shame really as the views across the water are superb.

Good food, good ambient, good service. Professional chef with gourmet food and bar service. Visit in Puerto Barrios city, Izabal. The only african spirit in Guatemala. Wifi free.

Ordered a Tapado. A seafood soup with coconut milk, just delicious, excellent service and big parking. The tip isn't included on your bill but believe me, you'll want to leave a big one. You can eat inside or under a nice beautiful rancho just a side the ocean.
