We opon every day except on wendsdays.
Very 60's feel with eclectic music and funky decor.slow food, good staff.the lamb pie I chose was full and a large portion,as were the starters.Lovely atmosphere and busy.
not the best meal in the world but the prices were very reasonable and I think they pitch mid range nicely....Didn't feel cheated when presented with the bill.

International food in romantic place.
Amazing overlook the Argentino Lake
Open only for dinner and closed on Wednesday.
We're not talking world class cuisine here, but little things like fresh ingredients, salad oil that isn't stale, and availability of condiments set it apart from other places in town. The view from the second floor makes it an exceptionally pleasant place to spend a couple hours watching the sun go down as you have dinner, and the location away from the craziness of the center ensures that you can get a table.

I was shocked to find such an outstanding restaurant in the isolated village of El Chalten. My wife and I had steaks that were excellent. So were the accompanying vegetables and the homemade bread. Service was good and they have a pretty extensive wine list. One of the best meals we had during our 5 weeks in South America.
Note that they only take cash.

This charming tiny restaurant turns out gourmet fare. We loved the presentation of the Patagonian lamb and enjoyed the green apple tart with homemade cinnamon ice cream. The house Malbec was good as well. Very reasonably priced. About $30pp including entree, shared dessert, wine and water.

The specialy of the house are a great choices of waffles, sandwiches, coffee and homemade pastries. We hope you enjoy a good time with us in a warm atmosphere, with good music and make you feel at home.
We had one of our better meals at El Bar during our nights in Calafate. In a town that seems to specialize in either lots of meat or marginal Italian food, the waffles and tortes were a wonderful change of pace. They appear to take pride in the quality of the food, while making it interesting at the same time. Reasonable prices, too. Colorful paint, fun and funky vibe, some outdoor Seating, friendly folks. Looks like a favorite of the locals as well, which is always a good indicator. This isn't fine dining, but definitely worth a visit.

Mi Rancho is a small restaurant which operates in a historic house of 1944. Its 100% homemade food is made from regional raw materials. The old clay oven where the bread is made and some dishes stand out. The place is small so it is advisable to book in advance due to the high demand season.
Tried the Osso Bucco and loved it but the serving was enormous. Service was good and the atmosphere very pleasant.

La Zaina Restaurante & Wine Bar, it is a liltle and cozy restaurante, just one block from the Main St. We have a very quiet and roomy place, where our guest can talk each ohter, and enjoy a great evening inside or in our incredible back yard. We have the best cocktails and Wines at the town, We are speciilst in beverage, but first at all, wine lovers and we love what we do. You will find our famous Patagonic Lamb, in several way to be coocked. And also you could taste our great bistecs and Wines from all around our country. Imagine to go to the past, to one of the pioneers Farm Houses at Patagonia. La Zaina is sorrounded by any kind of memories from said places. It is like a Museum, but also, you can spend a great time. Good music, good wine, the best Lamb, just one block from the main st. Pls book yr table.
Came here based on the review.. in deed as other reviewers said.. I really need to add salt on the meat.. I don't think there is much special like other lamb shops in other city.. Very disappointed. portion small. price is high.. I am sure you can find better restaurant to dine. Deco in the restaurant is fun.. but for food.. not really worth for the money.. sorry. people line up for this restaurant.. but you don't really have to dine here. the EXCHANGE RATE is very bad here. bring local money here. NO CREDIT CARD that day since the power went off ... seems it happens often there at el calafate.. I wish i went back to the other restaurant which is really good food/service .. I will write another review about it. again.. for the price/ and review about this restaurant.. i expect the chief can flavor it right.. instead I need to put seasoning on top..

La vinería is a little wine and craft beer bar, where you could feel a friendly atmosfhere. Good pub music is listened to all the time. Travelers & climbers from all over the world create a magic environment where the inglish is the universal language, local fellons are present as well. Owesome pies, sandwichs, finger food and cold cuts platters are served as well as an amazing wine per glass list or argentinian small Breweries you could get. If you are one of those young spirit guys and wish you spend a nice time in a patagonic pub. This is your spot. We wait for you , you will be very wellcome.
We went there two times as we really liked the vibe of the place and the wine selection. The owner was very nice and offered us a desert wine similar to Port, very good! Staff is very friendly but kitchen may be a bit slow....MoreThanks a lot for your words. Im really sorry that you could not to enjoy your food . We always try to do the best of us. Sometimes we get it sometimes not. cheers, Sebastian

We were recommended this place for dinner by another couple from the UK whose path we happened to cross on several occasions during our trip to Chile and Argentina. We both chose a different soup to start (mine was asparagus & shrimp) and were very impressed with the wholesome hearty flavours. The pastas to follow were also very tasty, but not quite as delicious.
All in all a very good evening repast (our fellow UK travellers even came back for a second night), but please do note as others have observed that they do not take cards so make sure that you have enough cash.
