There’s an Arabic inscription that captures the essence of Granada in a few words: “There is nothing so sad as to be blind in Granada.” The perspicacity of this declaration becomes obvious as soon as you penetrate the austere walls of the Alhambra and take in the full majesty of the architecture, carvings and fountains of the Nasrid palaces. Your ticket (which should be bought well in advance following the instructions on the attraction’s website) also affords entry to the Renaissance Palace of Carlos V and to the exquisite gardens of the Generalife. If you are celebrating a special event, or are in the market for a splurge, you can stay in the lovely Parador, right on site. Make your way down into the city via the atmospheric old quarter of the Albaicin, with its tiny craft shops and restaurants, and head for the Cathedral and Royal Chapel. Also plan a visit to the crypt for the tombs of Ferdinand and Isabella, the instigators of Spain’s imperial adventures to the New World and beyond. It’s worth making the short journey out of town to visit the Monasterio Cartuja, a fabulous Carthusian monastery in the baroque style. Admirers of the poet Lorca should make the effort to visit the Casa-Museo Federico Garcia Lorca in Fuente Vaqueros, about 11 miles from the city centre.

We absolutely loved our meal at La Oliva, and cannot recommend this experience enough. A huge tasting menu with five accompanying wines, all for €38 each. There were only three parties in the room when we visited, including ourselves, and Fransisco took great care to describe everything he served, and to tell us how each dish was created and which areas of Andalucia the ingredients came from. We spent about two hours there, and came our absolutely stuffed!
Booking is essential, as this is not a restaurant as such - they only serve their tasting menu, by appointment only. We emailed Fransisco with the dates that we were visiting Granada, and he let us know when he could fit us in. I would strongly advise doing the same, as this is a meal not to be missed!

Open from Monday to Friday (from 13:00 to 16:30 and from 19:00 to 21:30). Offers a wide selection of authentic and delicious Italian food, desserts, wines and coffe. Everyday Maria starts cooking very early in the morning her exquisite recipes, including the fresh pasta sheets for the best lasagnas and the focaccia that accompanies every dish. This cosy local has a table for four people, another one for two, and two bars. Is the ideal place to eat with friends or alone. Maria never stops searching new recipes typical of the best Italian tradition. And every day, you can try the special menu: portion of vegetable quiche, drink and dessert (7.90 €). You can also enjoy the excellent lasagnas (with meat or vegetables).Maria recommends to arrive early in order to have a look at the shop window with all the dishes and desserts of the day.
Visited Viva Maria tonight after Reading reviews! Excellent choice. Owner explained menu for me in English. Had Mediterranean lasagne with leeks, courgettes etc followed by Orange and almond cake. Both delicious accompanied by a couple of glasses of red wine. Very reasonably priced. Lovely friendly service. Shall be back!

It's hard to imagine how you could improve upon this place. The restaurant is situated in a picturesque gorge along the Tranvia. The food is local specialities, many of them family recipes. We had the 'Chuleton de Ternera' ... the most tender and tasty steak cooked to perfection. Not cheap At €22, but this is a dish to share not scoff alone. This is well off the tourist trail so the menu is in Spanish but the waiters will help with suggestions and they have wifi so you can google a translation. This is the perfect family venue ... spend the day walking, paddling and bathing along the Tranvia, then have a late lunch followed by another swim in their (river) pool complete with rope swing.

Best Tapas I've had since living in Spain. What is great about the tapas is the variety. From Morracan to Asian tapas and local cuisine, they were all tasty and authentic. The portions were great too. For ever drink purchased you get one tapa per person free and you can then order an extra one for €1.20. We had 3 drinks each resulting in 6 different delicious tapas all €24.20... Outstanding! I also recommend getting there before it opens because it will get packed! Highly recommended! Big shout out to one of the staff members Jorge he was so kind!

Think about a banquet... Now, add Spanish wine and brandy. This is the place... We ate like kings, were treated likewise and in the end... 67 euros. If i were to eat this in NYC, I would pay like 400 USD and would receive a terrible service. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. I loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. The staff were so friendly... Patient, explaining everything. PERFECT!

The italian cuisine in Granada. Mozzarelle, burrate, ricotta handmade. Fresh pasta, lasagna, wine and typical italian products
I passed to Granada for one day trip to visit Alhambra, at the end of the day i felt that im cravings to eat Italian dishes, as always i got to trip advisor app and i searched for Italian place i got that tiny small restaurant it shows it deserve to give it a shot and try.
Food was perfect.
Place was clean and well organized.
Owners are very friendly and we chatted for 10 minutes.
Just keep in attention that there is two small tables in the resturant each table for 3 person, and if you are more than 3 grab your meals and eat it outdoor while your enjoying lovely Granada.

A tipical restaurant with marvelous views to the chesnut tree forest of town. We work traditional and local plates The manager speaks good english. The restaurant offers to the clients a large assortment of vegetarian, celiacs plates and a cared selection of grilled meats and roasted. And every weekend has specialtys out of the menu but we can´t forget the three kind of rices is having available, the seafood rices might be requested under reservation to guarantee you the freshness of the products The enviroment of the restaurant used to be calm specially by the summer nights. The wine list is also interesting
We had seen that La Solana was #1 for the area on Tripadvisor and were intrigued, so on our last evening we walked the few kilometres down the road to arrive for an early dinner around 6, to enjoy what remained of the sun.
I expected a quaint vibe, and the location and building lived up to that, but the service and food far exceeded my expectations. The service was on a par with any fine dining restaurant I have ever visited, and the starter we shared (a sharing platter of different local cured meats with bread) was a complete revelation. Every mouthful was full of flavour, full of spices and herbs. I had a gin and tonic made for me with infusions of pink peppercorns, juniper berries and citrus peel. I recommend ordering one just to watch it being made with such skill.
By the time we finished our starter the sun had gone down and it was cold outside, so we moved everything inside and sat next to the fire to eat our local paella style rice dish. It was piping hot and tasty, and went perfectly with a red wine we were recommended.
Every aspect of this dining experience was five star, the food, the service, the location, the drinks...even the background music. I highly recommend this place to everybody.
