The North Pole Restaurant opened in 1986 and is located in a privileged area of Porto Moniz, in Largo das Pools, the ideal place for a meal after a morning or beach day in the natural pools. Come have lunch or dinner at the North Pole have a Terrace with partial views of the sea and the islet Mole, the hallmarks of Porto Moniz. Come experience the fresh fish dishes, seafood and meat we have for you. Imagine yourself in a fantastic sunny day, with sea view to enjoy a dose of baked grilled limpets of Porto Moniz seas, a meal or a typical dish of Madeira as tasty tuna steak with fried corn or fillet sword with banana or passion fruit. Also try our homemade passion fruit pudding. The North Pole Restaurant has a total of 212 seats, lounge, bar and Terrace and public parking at the door. We do group bookings.
This was arranged through our guide for a 2course meal set price.
We had the Espada (Black Scabbard Fish). This fish it'self was lovely and served with a potato side dish.
Unfortunately for me it was covered with onions which I'm mildly allergic too, so didn't eat, but that isn't the fault of the restaurant.
We had dessert and table wine; The red was great the white not so much!
Decent place to stop.

We walked out to the Terrace and..wow...probably one of THE nicest views we've ever seen. The service, as with so many Portuguese restaurants, starts out pleasant, but if you can speak a few words of the language, everything turns warm and sweet. The food here is very good, not great, but there is LOTS of it; i.e, in true Portuguese style, our sides included french fries, rice with seafood, plain rice, and steamed flat beans. All is fresh, served with efficiency, under umbrellas, and open to the sea. What more could you want?

Arrived to a storm so just ran in to shelter and eat! We enjoyed our meals. The prawn and calamari skewers and chicken and bacon skewers were good., The half bottle of recommended BSE wine was good too. The restaurant was busy and some table had to wait. We were not in any rush so were content. Snack and full meals available. Not the prettiest of cafes (quite functional) but the views in the town are superb.

We called here as the father of the owner has a place in Sao Vicente and gave us the card. We were going to Porto Moniz which is a lovely spot on the north coast of Madeira, famous for its natural bathing pools in the rocks.
We had pregos (steak, ham and cheese) in bolo de caco bread. These were not as good as many others we have had in other places over the years. Our friends had scabbard fish served in same bolo de caco bread. They declared them to be mediocre
Coffee was good and the beer was Coral on draft
Reasonably priced and pleasant service but typical tourist spot opposite rock pools
The toilets were clean but had no seats on them

We ate in this restaurant as our tour minibus parked behind and it was raining. Sadly this was a mistake. The restaurant itself looks like a motorway service canteen and our experience of the food matched. We had toasted ham and cheese sandwiches which consisted of two slices of dry almost burnt toast stick together with ham and a sticky cheese. We also had French fries which had been barely shown the pan. There are plenty of other eating places in the vicinity so I would advise trying elsewhere.

We stopped here because some in our group were so eager to get food. To me, it seemed like they were running in an off-season mode, airconditioning wasn't on (or atleast it wasn't efficient enough. People near the windows were opening them for breath of fresh air.) and there were no lights either. I ordered grilled anchovies, and well, got just that, with boiled potatoes. It had million tiny fishbones in it and the taste was uninviting too, so I skipped the whole meal. That doesn't happen other than once in ten years or so! Also, the cod fish was covered in some "uncle ben's" kinda sauce, so it was dissed too. Fish soup, however, was good and worth the money. And at least one of the waitresses was very kind and nice.
My experience was probably so bad mainly because grilled anchovies weren't to my liking - at all. But if you know you're a big fan of those, maybe you can ignore my poor rating..

Arrived in Port Moniz following a taxi ride from Sao Vincente. Hotel was pretty empty but after looking at the pictures of food outside at the other establishments wanted somewhere different. Staff very friendly & helpful. Had a lunchtime menu which was tasty & plentiful & excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend.

We ate here from the half board menu (18€ if you are staying in the hotel, or 20€ otherwise), which allows you to choose from a set menu of starters, mains and desserts. The starter I had, Portuguese soup, was fairly bland, but the rest of the food was tasty (lasagne and biscuit parfait). Generous portions too and, as with the rest of the hotel, the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Sitting in our light restaurant, with one of the most fascinating views over the Atlantic Ocean, the Breakfast Buffet, as well as the 'a la carte' lunch and dinner, allows our guest to contemplate both the sea and the cliffs along the north coast. Our Restaurant by our innovating cooking techniques, will allow our guest to taste the unique flavours off our local products in an exquisite manner.
The food was a gourmand experience, really delicious, all tastes fits together. I took a tuna fish medium with tomato puree and batata, radish and avocado, really delicious. My boyfriend took a chicken filled with some sausage meat served with avocado, fried batata and some other stuff. He also really liked it.
(Food starts from 10-12 euro)
We were wondering how the blue wine tastes, so we give it a try and surprisingly it was really good. A bottle for 10euro is ok.
It's a hotel restaurant...so I had sometimes feeling they don't care that we are also there, as we were not the guest of the hotel...as it seems they give more attention to the hotel guest. (F.e.The waitress pour wine to everybody except us, which seem very rude to me ! )
At the end we wait a long time for paying.. however they gave us taste their cherry spirit-liquer. The waiter were in the end very friendly and nice.
The restaurant is modern, with some nice flower decoration and candle on the table. I really liked the picture of Porto Moniz how it looked like in the past.

Enjoy a swim in crystal clear waters, and enjoy good Sunshine. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and drinks. We are waiting for you!
We stayed in Seixal for 3 nights and visited the restaurant multiple times - for breakfast, dinner or just for a drink. The food is all very fresh, the staff very friendly and we just enjoyed it very much all the times.
