This restaurant is wrong on so many levels but lets start with the wait staff in particular the chef's wife who clearly either does not really like the restaurant business or simply was having a bad day, but simply put her attitude was poor from the get go. Once seated it took around 15 minutes to even be able to order drinks (mind you there were very few people in the restaurant) and then the really ordinary menu with few choices arrived. My wife ordered a shoulder of pork which when it finally arrived was overcooked and inedible, I had the duck and frankly it had been cremated and was really ordinary. Sometimes no matter what is done your night goes to custard and this night was one of them. The prices charged where on par with Melbourne not country SA, the service was embarrassing even for a paid employee let alone the owner's wife.
Again when there is little other than this restaurant as the offering for an evening meal you probably have no choice, but I have to say the local butcher had great meat and next night we had a barbecue and it was great.

Had a fantastic lunch at this beautiful winery. The 4 of us enjoyed the lovely degustation menu and each item on the menu was incredible. Service was excellent and the view was beautiful. We chose to have the degustation menu without the matching wines and opted to pick a bottle of wine to share instead. One downside I would say was we booked online weeks before our lunch date using Dimmi and upon arrival they didn’t have our booking, however they were able to fit us in. First time I’ve had that problem so would recommend calling and checking they’ve received the booking if booking through Dimmi. But would definitely eat here again when back in the Penola and Coonawarra area :)

Drink Ottelia + Eat Fodder...eclectic daily menu, wood fired pizza oven using our sour dough bases, we also make gluten free bases, produce from our vegie garden. Our range of Limestone Coast wines available for tasting & purchase
Came for wine tasting & lunch. Wine was just OK for me, but food was good. A little pricey, but fresh & good quality. Pizzas looked great.

We were hungry after a long drive to Penola and Heyward's Royal Oak Lounge Bar welcomed our large group, organised our Seating, took our orders and systematically made as all happy with hot tasty attractive large portions of dinner. The menu has something for everyone, and my pepper steak, salad and chips was GREAT. The bar service was equally efficient. An enjoyable dinner in a historic country pub.

My afternoon coffee break on a road trip found me in Penola and Trip Advisor pointed me towards the Vintage Cafe. A pleasant stop, though I couldn't see a great deal of "vintage" in it; the staff were friendly, the atmosphere clean and relaxed. Along with good coffee, I enjoyed a slice of delicious Black Forest cake, generously adorned with a swirl of cream.

Came here and wasn’t sure what to expect. The place was packed and had lots of locals which was a great sign. Your typical pub meal but was great. Lots of choices on the menu and had a salad bar also. Service was friendly, much better compared to the other pub down the road. But would eat here again. Pricing not bad either.

Cheap restaurant pretending to be Italian but not. The service is mediocre not wine list and everything come from a can or frozen.
We stopped in on our travel back to Victoria. it seemed the busiest of the street when we did a quick walk.
We were pleasantly greeted, and given menus and asked for our drink selections. Quick friendly, no pressure.
We sat outside and people watched. Wine list was fair not huge, the foods were abundant enough.
Drinks appeared quickly with food a little longer. Our 3 meals were great, good size and well presented.
The owner was quick efficient and offered comment if asked.
Would recommend for a sit down and watch the world travel by. Go again, no problems.

This bakery has indoor & outdoor Seating, a large selection of Rolls, pies, sandwiches, cakes & slices. Hot & cold drinks available. Nice staff, good food, great for a snack or lunch, with reasonable prices. It was very busy when we were there at lunchtime, lots of tradies (workmen) there for lunch. We enjoyed all we bought.
