Phone is 903.723.5100. Recently featured in Texas Monthly Magazine, Discover East Texas Magazine and Texas Highways Magazine. Amazing homemade pies!
We stopped when traveling through Palestine because we had heard about the Oxbow's famous pies. If you like really sweet pies, this is the place for you. If you don't, don't stop. We tried both the chocolate meringue and their famous strawberry pie and both were ridiculously sweet. They're also very expensive for just a piece of pie.

Fine dining downtown in a historical setting with Chef/Owner Christian Mailloux, a CIA graduate.
I had dinner here on 04/13/17. This is my second review and an update. I believe this time was better than the first. Chris, our waiter, was great. He was able to make the right recommendations and pairings which went beautifully with the food we ordered. The wine was great. The food better. This is a quiet, romantic spot. I highly recommend it.

Come to Cream and Coffee and you won't be disappointed!
I drove through here with my Mom for the first time and we were both surprised at the efficiency and friendliness this tiny building runs on. Order anything you desire, from coffee for Mom to smoothies for the children, either are delicious!
May God bless you in your travels!

In 1881, F. H. Eilenberger's parents left their home in Leipzig, Germany and sailed to America to pursue their dream in the new land of opportunity. In May of 1898, young 21-year-old F. H. opened a bakery in tiny Palestine, Texas. Along with his hopes and dreams, F. H. also tucked away an old family recipe for fruitcake. Using that recipe, the finest ingredients available, and some old world know-how, his fruitcake became a delicious success. As more and more people bought his cakes, the Eilenberger reputation of having the freshest, highest quality bakery products began to grow. Despite a devastating fire, the Depression years and two World Wars, the business thrived. Just as it was in F.H.'s day, we use nothing but the finest ingredients and insist that every cake be made the old-fashioned way-lovingly mixed, baked and decorated entirely by hand. Sure it's more time-consuming, but we think our people, not machinery, are the only ones qualified to deem a product perfect. It's this unique hands-on" approach to quality that's made Eilenberger's baked goods a holiday tradition for over 119 years.
We go here for lunch sometimes on Saturdays and it's excellent. We've had several sandwiches and they are always good. They have a shop you can buy all your baked goodies, and they serve food for lunch with a large seating area. It's a great...MoreThanks so much for taking the time to give us your feedback! We appreciate your comments. Hope to see you again soon!

Great lunch! Sandwiches and ice cream - fabulous!! Don't pass this spot up / take the time! You won't regret it!!! The four of us (2 couples) thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and browsing the shop afterwards before continuing our journey.

Located on a terraced hill with an exceptional atmosphere, Switch specializes in Neopolitan pizzas and FRESH regional Italian cuisine with a vast wine cellar.
We had dinner reservations for after our Polar Express train ride experience and glad we made them there. Only a couple hiccups, we were kinda forgotten for a good 20 minutes without menus, silverware, or water until we asked for service. Also I was charged for a dinner salad when what I ordered and received was a side salad. Waitress said she’d fix it but didn’t. She was sweet and quite accommodating otherwise, and overall took pretty good care our large party. When the food did come we were mostly pleased. The meatball appetizer dish was amazing, my favorite! Everyone’s favorite, we’re still talking about it! Lol
I actually order another for my meal as I didn’t care for the Cajun chicken pasta dish I ordered at all. Not Cajun and an odd flavor really. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food.

Road trip to Houston in a hurry and hungry! This was fast, generous portions and delicious! Unassuming exterior and nothing fancy inside but some great food and good service! Prices were good, too!

The newly remodeled dining room has a very cozy feel. Service was great and the entire staff is super friendly. Even sitting in the farthest corner booth, Tracey did a great job of keeping our glasses filled and making sure our meal was perfect, right down to the mountain of shredded cheese I specially requested

Excellent bread with olive oil and basalmic vinegar. Salads are OK. Chicken dishes are OK. Seafood is OK. This time I had the veal parmigiana. Very small portion - breading was completely off the veal. Pasta was OK. Service was good - friendly and timely....MoreThank you!! Try the pizza next time...it IS awesome?? we homemake our bread from scratch and use only the best mozzarella???
