Best restaurant in this small town but is hidden on the outskirts of town so is unknown to many. I grew up in Othello, visited my folks there this weekend, went to Checos twice in weekend because it was so good!
On our long drive home from Idaho we dropped in. We were immediately greeted and seated. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. We were the only ones dining which seemed weird since the food ended up being fantastic. The food was flavorful and tasted fresh! We will definitely visit next time we're passing through the area.

When ever we are out of Othello and want a latte or even a simple hot chocolate, the Kix Stand is the standard we use. And so far no one has mesraued up.

Specialties

We specialize in lunch. We serve soups, salads, paninis and sandwiches. We also have a expresso machine and in the summer months we sell produce grown in the columbia basin. We also will be serving and selling beer, wine and keg. We serve dinner on Friday. Thank you for discovering us on Yelp.

History

Established in 1910.

Othello Ironworks was originally a welding shop. It was the first welding shop in Othello. The Larson's were the first owners then it was sold to the Allred brothers. They ran the welding shop up until there late 90's. After they passed, the sons sold there business to a former welder/black smith turned farmer, George Rattray. The building sat empty for 15 years until his daughter, Erika turned it into a cafe/market. Most of the chairs, tables and fixtures were built from the scrap left in and around the building. George and Erika designed and built the chairs, tables and light fixtures. We hope you enjoy the building as much as we do.
Stopping through Othello while checking out the Sandhill Crane Festival we chose to have our lunch here based on reviews.
It's obvious from some of the reviews they are locals grading a local as and such are over generous.
Two meals ordered, biscuits and gravy and the Italian (pronounced Eye-tal-yun here) with a kale slaw. The gravy, while being a lot, was flavorless. It had five pieces of sausage which was too mild to flavor the gravy. Biscuits were hard even though soaked with the gravy. They seemed to have been old and nuked.
The sandwich had quite a bit of meat on it. The marbled rye, a favorite of mine, should have been toasted or something to help better hold up.
Music, mild in nature, consisted of Paul Simon, Jim Croce, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Tracy Chapman played just a little too loud for this mostly empty venue.

Most of the restaurants in Othello are Mexican which did not inspire us. And some are really cheap stuff. From the outside, this looked like one of the better restaurants in town. Service was prompt and friendly. My soda was refilled four times. Food was very good and helpings are huge. The restaurant was also very clean.

Let's face it, Othello isn't exactly a destination resort town, but what it is is home to some of the best duck and goose hunting, bass fishing and out doors recreation in the state. That said, accommodations here are sparse, getting better, but you will have a better time staying away from Both the chain motels and restaurants. The Brunswick has been our "go to spot " for more years than I can remember. Run by the sisters, they rule this joint. If you are here on prime rib night, don't miss it, otherwise, just get the steak, local and reliable. Unlimited salad bar, great bar food. Atmosphere is pure country western bar complete with all the deer mounts. Not to be missed even if you are just passing through.

We were looking for the non-typical evening meal while visiting relatives and we were very impressed with the quality and value of this restaurant. Service was good for a small town and the staff was friendly. The meals were freshly prepared and the portions a bit overwelming.

Needed a spot after a long day of hunting. Been in many places like this and been underwhelmed, but not here. Burgers were simply fantastic and filling. I had "fallout burger" with egg, ham and cheese and it was perfectly done. "Mikes place" is bar that shares the restaurant. Recommend

Don't waste your time at any other pizza place. Best pizza around! Great service cold beer and excellent pizza.

I stopped here on my way out of town. I ordered tacos de asada and my husband ordered coctel de camaron. The tacos were good but the coctel de camaron was amazing! One of the best I've ever had. It was pretty spicy (it has diced jalapeno in it) but it wasn't over the top. Service was a little slow but the food more than made up for it. This place is our new regular stop as we are heading out of town!

Most places close at 9, even on a Friday in Othello. We picked here by default. Drive up line was long so walked in. It was much faster. Only got Flurries. Service is not good. The back of the shirts look awesome with the distinctive water tower, even in black & white.
