We were completing our Lake Superior circle back to Houghton and had driven through the Porcupine hills without finding anywhere to eat. At 8.59, we pulled up at Syl's to find they had cleaned the grill and were about to close. The great staff nevertheless produced great burgers and chips and even offered to keep open while we ate - we didn't but had a very welcome and tasty picnic dinner in the car. |Just what we were looking for. Definitely deserving an ace recommendation!!

We had sandwiches and cookies, perfect for a light dinner after hiking to the waterfalls. This is a good place to pick up a picnic and take it in your cooler to have during the day's exploring, since there's lots of great parks and picnic tables around, but not a lot of places to eat. The food is excellent.

In the basement of a retired church, resides The Little Cookie (TLC) store. A place that creates a baked meal left over from the days of Cornish copper miners, the Pasty. A baked delight of a dinner and you better have a Cornish miner's appetite to eat a whole one. We bought two, shared one on the first evening and the second one heated up deliciously in the oven the next day.
In addition, they sell home-made bread, cookies and other items.
When we visited, they only offered their items for sale on Saturdays and Mondays. You could perhaps check this link to see if they will be open when you are in Ontonagon, MI. : https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Little-Cookie-Store/104713489616798?sk=timeline&ref=page_internal

We had heard about how good the burgers were here so we drove up to try them. They were just an average bar burger. We each had a burger and a soda. We ordered a side of onion rings and half naked hotties (they had no jalapenos in them so I think we just got cheese curds by mistake). Our total was $29.00. Overpriced for the food. The service was excellent and we LOVE Ontonogon but we'll stick with Syl's next time.

We drove over to Ontonagon searching for a good lunch spot, We stopped in to Lynn's Cafe. As we entered, we were surprised by the number of customers seated enjoying their lunch. Lynn's offers a nice selection of soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch. We sampled their version of a roast beef sandwich served with mushrooms, onions and melted cheese & au jus as well as their salad special. All were well prepared and quite tasty. All in all an expected but very pleasant experience!

Sit at a table by a window to see a view of Lake Superior. The dining room is not particularly attractive, but the food is very good. We had the broiled cod. It came with a trip or two to the simple but adequate salad bar, potato or wild rice, and a nice group of steamed veggies. All in all, it was a healthy meal.

The coffee was good- thank good there's a decent coffee place around. We were less impressed with the sandwiches we picked up and took with us for the day. I think we should have just gone down the street to the grocery store and got some sandwich stuff and made our own.

Broasted Chicken and White Fish, Home made Sub sandwhich - our favorites. If you are looking for good homemade food when you are visiting the Porcupine Mountains- gotta stop at Curbside Kitchen. Suggest calling ahead if you want to take your food to go. Bob and Nancy - keep up the good work. The area definitely benefits from you being here.

As far as I know, this is the only restaurant in Silver City which is perhaps 20 West of Ontonagon, MI. It is on the shore of Lake Superior and the Big Iron River borders it. It is part of a Best Western Motel. Outdoor grill, chairs and of course, a wonderful view. In the early morning, it serves continental breakfast to the people staying at the motel and then at 11am Eastern, it opens to the public for lunch and goes thru dinner. A bar is handily adjacent. There is no problem with parking and you will be close to the Porkies Mountain State Park with Lake of the Clouds, one of the biggest attractions in the area. Small menu, but with a variety. Burgers with home-made chips or fries or sweet potato fries. Salads as lunch or sides and soup. I had the burrito which was good and very filling. Nice waitstaff. Good place to visit. I got there 10 minutes before it opened.
