Whenever I go to the north of Catalunya I eat at Ossos.
It is great food, wine, and atmosphere.
We also like to photograph ourselves at Ossos to enable us to gloat to our friends who were unable to visit this year.
The place was full of travellers, locals, and passing businessmen etc.
We enjoyed our Duck with pears.... also had the best Catalan wine they had on the list.
We went buy taxi from Olot and the same driver picked up us up on our return.
Truth, be said we were very happy and at one with the world.
We regaled the driver with our rendition of Elvis' " You were always on my mind."as we
returned to our digs. He played the tape twice. Maybe he enjoyed it OR was studying English, we will never know.
If you are in this area dont forget: Go OSSOS. We do every year.....

We ate here because it was next door to our hotel and offered a discounts to residents, but would have happily travelled much further and paid twice the price for such an excellent meal. Service was friendly and helpful. Don't miss it if you are in Olot!

We arrived for our dinner reservation to be greeted as though aliens had just walked in the door.
The hostess then disappeared for a considerably long time, at which point we considered leaving. (I wish we had)
As we had read such great reviews we decided to give it a chance.
Upon the hostess' return, we were offered a tour of the restaurant, and she could have not seemed more bored. (Here is the wine cellar, this room is for private events, etc. )
Once we were Seating food began to arrive with very little explanation as to what it was. (To the extent that we asked if the menu had begun or would we order-as I havea shellfish allergy it's important for me to know what I'm eating)
We were then given the menus.
We had a few excellent plates, which were few and far between.
One of my dishes was filled with salt. I explained to the waitress, who seemed annoyed, or not to believe me, did offer to replace it.
We had a few similar incidents. At the we mentioned the incidents and our discontent. No apology, no compensation, and a rather unpleasant experience.
We've had better 6€ menus, in the countryside. I'm quite shocked based on our experience that it has a single Michelin star, and relais and chateaux associate themselves with it.
Most reviews here seem quite positive, so perhaps we were unlucky.

I don't often write reviews of restaurants, but I think tourists should be aware that the owner of this "establishment" was extremely rude to us as soon as we entered. He was moaning from the outset about foreigners coming to his restaurant - unfortunately for him, I understood everything he said to one of his clients at the bar, as I understand Catalan.
I asked a local nearby where he would recommend - he told us about a place nearby. We ended up having a fabulous lunchtime meal for only 12.00 Euros at La Quinta Justa. This place is highly recommended, and will bring my guests here in future.

It's a really good place to have a smoothie, coffee, Sandwich, white croissant (delicious) and different many other options! Small place but really nice food and service!

This restaurant is in a lovely location. The atmosphere is pleasant. The service is ok but not overly friendly. Food was okay but value and quality at the nearby "La Deu" restaurant was superior.

Excellent value fixed price lunch menu. Starter of Olot potato cakes with meat, home made and served with a good salad. The main was a perfect cod (baccalau) with romescu sauce and a wide selection of well cooked sliced vegetables. Selection of local cheeses with various marmelades to finish, small portions but you didn't need more. Good presentation. High quality cooking for the price of a chicken and chips Spanish menu elsewhere. Water or wine and bread included.

Although we were staying in the very touristic Besalu we read reviews for Ramon Restaurant in Olot and went for dinner. It was worth the 20 minutes car journey !!
Olot is a typical town and Ramon is close to the main square with easy parking.
We chose the set menus ranging between 16 and 12 Euros for 3 courses + wine. It was excellent. Good quality ingredients, friendly service, good generous portions and great typical cooking. Best of all we were surrounded by locals and spanish people...not one tourist that evening.
I highly recommended it.

A melody of flavors and Olot Garrotxa, this sentence describes perfectly what you hear when you visit La Quinta Fair. The Fifth Fair offers traditional Catalan cuisine that combines tradition and modernity. Dishes based on product quality and proximity of the territory, which is why he has opted for a wine 100% DO Empordà.
As i outlined in a couple of my recent reviews i was part of a party of 62 cyclists taking part in a charity 660K cycle from Roussilon to Barcelona. Olot was the destination finish for day2 of cycling. 140K in blistering 38 degree heat. We arrived showered and changed but resembling a ravenous swarm of locusts. We were not disappointed. We had a 3 course menu - a tasting approach to starters - 7 different ones - parmesans lollipops and Olot Potatoes being the highlights. A beef for my main which was fall apart tender and cut with a spoon never mind a fork. Desert was a chocolate conconction to die for.
All in all highly recommneded - service excellent and freindly as well.

El celler is a tapas bar where you can find a large range of tapas made whith products from the aerea. You can also find an extensive list of wins of the region and enjoy a fantastic meal in a town surrended by volcanoes and nature.
Tapas buffet where the kitchen keeps updating the choices.
Noone speaks English, but it's not really needed (only for ordering drinks maybe).
You just take the tapas you want, and save up all the wooden sticks. The sticks "make the price" you have to pay in the end. But don't worry; everything is cheap!
And everything tastes great!
