The people Red attracted, they were the inspiration. The patrons of a wine boutique turned out to be people who were open to the finer experiences. What a pleasure to fulfill their interests in fine food, good company and quality service. In rising to those requirements we found Red had become a restaurant, unique in its focus on the pleasure of an evening. Wine was the starting point. Beyond the snobbery that once surrounded wine in America, Red let’s you explore, enjoy and fulfill your interest, your own way, using a serving instrument that’s unique to our region. Please consider this your own invitation to join us for an evening soon.
Please! Try Red, The Restaurant & Wine Boutique. Located quietly in the Bluffton strip mall where Best Buy is located, it seems out of the ordinary for a location. But walk inside and you feel as if you walked into Tuscany, Piemonte or Umbria, to a small family eatery with exceptional wine values and such variety. The chef, from New Zealand, is so talented. Try his NZ Rack of Lamb although he will wow you with specials he changes up based upon the seasons. And sometimes while in the Bluffton area just doing errands, stop by for a nice glass of red or white and just order a cheese platter or his charcuterie assembly. Trust me, you will come back.

The decor here is forced charm, doesn't make it for me, it's just too contrived. I prefer the places that ooze charm from years of becoming the cool spot not decorating like you want to be it. The breakfast was, well breakfast. Eggs, etc. nothing to write home about and the coffee wasn't outstanding either.

We stopped here on our way to Charleston from Hilton Head. It popped up on Google maps as having great breakfast. Unfortunately, we missed breakfast by about 20 minutes and they wouldn't make an exception. Be warned: breakfast ends at 11:30. Service was okay- nothing special. I had the grilled salmon sandwich served with chips. Way too much onion but salmon was good. My husband had the half grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. He said it was tasty. $10.50 for half a cheese sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup is a bit pricey and we are from NY! Obviously we are not local but we wouldn't go back if we were.

We eat here yearly on the way home from Hilton Head. The pizza is a lite pricey but it is so worth it. The marinara sauce is my hands down favorite of anywhere. Friendly service and great food.

We'd seen Lucky Palace on our way to some shops in this little shopping center and after reading the mostly very good/excellent reviews, we decided to try it. And we're glad we did! We had a late lunch/early dinner consisting of two spring rolls, sesame chicken and cashew shrimp. The entrees were served with sticky rice. The food was fresh and served VERY hot. The shrimp were large and flavorful, with celery, zucchini, cashews and green pepper, and the chicken was lightly fried then coated in a superb sweet sesame sauce.
For dessert, the server surprised us with watermelon slices alongside the fortune cookies. And the fortune cookies were FRESH when we unwrapped them!
The host was the 12 year old boy mentioned in other reviews ... mostly monosyllabic. And the server was (I'm guessing) his big brother who was polite but not talkative.
The two meals totaled $30 with tax, so it's not cheap. But it's delicious, fresh, and the portions are large. I should have taken half home :)
Note that you can order online and it'll be ready for takeout when you arrive.

After a long day of travel, we came here for a late and good meal. And we were not disappointed! The food was very satisfying, the service was personal and friendly, and there was a wood fire going in the fireplace! The country store was full of Christmas items, and we bought some new decorations for around our door. What a great start to the Christmas season!

Fairly new location on the highway to Hilton Head.
My wife suggested we stop and we did - had a couple of decent subs, neither exceptionally good nor exceptionally bad....just fit the bill for a quick lunch.
Location is quite small, but did offer a few tables outside which we used and it was pleasant.

We both were craving ice cream the other day (having a warm spell here) and a Google search showed Jack Frost Homemade Ice Cream. It took a few minutes to find (if you find Okatie Ale House Restaurant, you've found Jack Frost).
We both had a small (which isn't that small) hot fudge sundae on mint chocolate chip ice cream, with whipped cream and a cherry:) It absolutely hit the spot! Delicious, homemade, not-too-sweet ice cream with a hefty dollop of hot fudge. There was a large choice of flavors, including two with adult flavoring (Bailey's and another), and a number of coffee-based flavors. Hard to choose. The owner was right there manufacturing the ice cream so you KNOW it's fresh.
We enjoyed the sundaes in the outdoor courtyard while visiting with the owner's small dog, Wiggles, who was resting in his basket.
We'll definitely be back. Especially because it's within a golf cart ride of home :)

I usually stop at Gwen & Franny's when I'm staying over in Hardeeville. The sign today said "Closed from December 4 until December 11. Sorry for the inconvenience.". So I quickly checked Trip Advisor and saw Mi Tierrita was well-reviewed. Definitely an opportunity to try something new.
It's a basic, no-frills place but the food was very good. I got one of the chef's specialties: Enchiladas Mexicana ($11). A moose of platter. Enough for even big eaters, like me. They warn you that it's "spicy" (they really mean "hot"). But it's not unbearably hot. I washed it down with a house margarita ($6). A Yuengling would have done just as well ($3.75).
I got the steak enchilada. The steak could have been more tender, but I've had worse. I still thought it was a very good meal.
As others have noted, the wait staff could be more friendly. The service was good, but they don't seem to try to build a rapport with the customers. Someone needs to tell them that they will get better tips if they would!!
Gwen & Franny's has some competition. If you're not in the mood for fried chicken, give Mi Tierrita a try.

We visited with a group of about 15. This really is a nice restaurant, well appointed and the food is excellent. We had a community breakfast. Brittany took the orders and served each and every person. The food was served hot and exactly as ordered. The menu is good and the prices are very reasonable. Brittany was most professional and enhanced the visit. Well worth dropping by.
