This excellent restaurant is only open 4 months, WED-SAT I believe. They only take 12 diners a night, and the start times are nicely staggered to accommodate everyone. The menu is very interesting. They only do a handful of things, but they are done very well. Everything was delicious and exotic with an Asian twist. Ambiance is excellent and mellow. Thank you Hans!

The best combination of hospitality, great food and presentation. Led by Lucy and her family, beautiful ambiance and desserts not to be missed. The headquarters of the Culinary Capital of Costa Rica! Stake time to sit, sip, enjoy a great evening with family or friends!

Loved the food at this fusion cuisine restaurant in Ojochal, South of Uvita. It was too warm today during lunch time to enjoy all the wonderful dishes on the menu, so I must go back for dinner.
We had an amazing ceviche, a tuna sashimi and salmon roll appetizer and a fresh snapper perfectly cooked with a delicious sweet potato pure.
I will be back soon to try more dishes soon.

Privately owned local restaurant in the forest. 4 km from Costanera in South direction, entrance to the left hand before the Punta Mala bridge
One of our new favourite places for lunch. We had the fish filet, the whole fish and the chicken..all excellent along with a cold beer to wash it down with. Service was good and the staff was friendly. Very clean, bathrooms spotless (good place to change into or out of your bathing suit). Short walk to the falls (great foto op up at the rock) water is cool very refreshing..spent an hour there. Lots of butterflies and the odd toucan. They even have their own tilapia ponds where kids can fish and eat their own catch..you can be sure the fish is fresh here. We will definitely be doing a few more lunches here. Oh i forgot they have the best fries also.

We had dinner at the Mamma e Papa. The owners are extremely friendly and offer great service. We ordered salad, home made pasta, the pork meat, calamari and lemon pie. Excellent food for a reasonable price. Highly recommended for Italian food.

can't find actual address-often the case in Ojochal (south of Dominical)
Let me say this the food here is alway great. If you like pizza or lasagna this is a good spot. Stefan is a character that I enjoy on every visit. This place is bohemian, artsy, and a one off. I think we spend more time talking and exploring his creations as we do loving the food.

...and the most expensive!
This is a 5 star restaurant. The chef is amazing. All the food is locally sourced and what is in season, fresh and mostly organic. The presentation and the staff were outstanding.
I enjoyed a Shrimp Ceasar salad and had a Shrimp Entree. Chocolate crepe for dessert. Incredible!!!
The restaurant is located at a small boutique hote (El Castillo), which has amazing ocean and river views. When we were there, the hotel was quiet, so we were fortunate to sit by the poolside, with our feet in the water - enjoying a cocktail before sitting at our table. Stunning setting.

After traveling around Costa Rica for almost 6 weeks, my husband and I have gotten used to good, if simple, food that is inexpensive - we're talking $5-$8 per person. So we were pretty put out when we got to the Dominical/Uvita/Ojochal area where all the restaurants seem to claim "gourmet" status simply because they make sub-par facsimiles of American or European cuisine and can charge exorbitant amounts of money for it because most tourists here don't seem to know what they're missing.
ANYWAY... Ceviche Pinuelas was a breath of fresh air. The food was tasty, well-prepared, and just the right portion size. The service was friendly and there was a nice view of the ocean. Locals congregate there, so you know it's good. :) And, perhaps the most refreshing thing of all, the ceviche didn't contain any sugar. This may sound strange to you, but for some reason we keep running into ceviche sweetened with sugar. It's weird and not the greatest. They make it right here!
Husband got the clam ceviche with patacones and really enjoyed it. I opted for calamari with rice and veggies and also really enjoyed it. We split an ice cream for dessert. :)
So skip the over-priced tourist traps, once in a while at least, and grab some meals here!

We enjoyed sopa de mariscos, in the lively restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and open air. We have had lunch here as well.

sorry i was very disapointed, i red on tripadvisor it was the number 2 restaurant in Uvita with many excellent comments but for me the paella was not good no taste like boiled rice with some boiled meat and a very little seafoods, it seemed it was not the real chief in the kitchen, it seemed it was another chief in the kitchen??? it is not possible to have a so bad paella when you read so good comments on tripadvisor, there was a problem in the kitchen ??? the paella was not a paella, just boiled rice without any taste, savorless, without spices, pity, disapointed, before paella we had excellent spicy mussels and a very bad gaspacho ( not of the day ??? limit to be sick !!! ), so when i come back home, i question me if i came in the restaurant i red on tripadvisor ??? i think there is a oroblem in the kitchen, i think sometimes it is another bad cookers people in the kitchen, the quality is not good every day, there are some comments medium and bad in tripadvisor, it was a bad day for me... sorry to write this because the service was very good and the women was very friendly, in conclusion the quality is not every day, so for a bad day it is very very expensive, bad quality and very expensive, quailty must be all day...
