This restaurant has homemade Midwest food. The steak I had was excellent, soup was cabbage and ham not typical of most restaurants. Salad bar not processed bags greens, veggies, condiments fresh. Reasonably priced and the local people in this restaurant still say grace at their dinner tables. Refreshing site to see. Considering I was raised to do so also. Staff are quick, attentive and greet you with welcome to our town manners! Desserts are potluck whatever the cook decides for the day, I find that charming as well. 7 choices of homemade pie one is is bound to please your taste buds.

We needed a quick afternoon pick me up, and we drove into O'Neil looking for something. Stopped at Dairy Queen and it was just the ticket. My husband had a milkshake, a chocolate milkshake – he said it was really one of the best milkshakes he'd had in a long time. I had the triple chocolate brownie sundae, and I really enjoyed it; the brownie was absolute perfection.
Nothing fancy, but the place was clean and the food was quickly served by pleasant young people. Just what we needed.

This was our second time here--the first time was in July 2012. We felt the service was outstanding, the coffee was good, and the atmosphere was clean and uncluttered but nothing special. As we always appreciate cleanliness and great service, that trumps everything! Overall, we felt like this was a 4/5 and would be back if in the area again.

Being in town for business, I had no idea where to eat. This location was recommended by a local as being one of the better places in town, and I am glad I went. This is a modest, yet well kept and nicely decorated restaurant in the downtown area. The menu was very large, and surprisingly, had a lot of seafood/fish items. Although I normally like to try lesser known items when I am at Mexican restaurants, I went with something more mainstream as I only had a short amount of time for lunch and didn't want to order anything overly fancy that might take a lot of time to prepare. Thus, I went with a lunch combo that allowed for a choice of two items served with rice and beans. I ordered a Chile relleno and a chicken taco.
The chicken taco was served authentic style, with some shredded chicken, onion, and cilantro on a warm corn tortilla. It was light, with clean and bright flavors that nicely paired with the rice and beans. The Chile relleno was also very tasty and lightly battered and fried, served with a dollop of sauce and crème. I really enjoyed my lunch (which by the way was served in about 5 minutes), as it was tasty, yet not super heavy like some Mexican meals can be. The total cost was about $11.
Our servers were friendly and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. I did feel a little sorry that they make the serving staff wear "cowboy" gear however.
In anycase, this was good food (my companion also enjoyed his meal very much too) and make for an excellent and quick lunch at a nice price. I would definitely come back and try other items.

We stopped and ended up getting sandwiches. I ordered an Italian sub on jalapeño cheddar bread. Very tasty with a homemade feeling. My wife got a taco wrap. What surprised me was the quality of the offering as I have had Caseys food before and I wouldn't recommend other than pizza. The 15 minute wait to order dropped this rating down a bit. Pleasantly surprised though.

Haven't been to O'Neill in a long time and found this by accident. Neat interior, good old brick walls with R&R memorabilia on the walls. Good burgers, great service. I have a cousin in the area, I have to bring him here!!

I was referred to this establishment (in the old VFW hall) by the motel hostess as a place with "great hamburgers" and I agree the hamburger was excellent--obviously freshly ground beef with a great flavor but what was extraordinary and what I recommend to any diner are the "beer battered" french fries! Now, I'm from Idaho and darned loyal to Idaho potatoes but I have to say after decades of eating french fries in literally thousands of restaurants across the globe, the beer battered french fries I had at the Hideaway in O'Neill, NE were the best I have ever eaten and not by just a little but by a whole bunch! I have no idea what they batter these fries in or what they cook them in but they have a flavor that is simply superb--uniquely so. I would tell anyone to give them a try--it's worth the trip to the restaurant for the fries and I don't think I have ever said or thought that before my experience at the Hideaway.

Located in gas station. Faster service than my local tjs. Brought our food to the table which is nicer than my local tjs who just yells at you to come get it. Clean. Nice staff. Pretty busy place.

Getting consistently cheaper with the cheese, several time now it's just been sparingly thrown on with significant parts of the pizza having none. The pasta has gone down hill too. It used to fill the dish and have sauce, now the dish is only half full and the pasta is dry and crusty at the top.
