Ruthcliffe lodge gives a genuine, upscale dining experience on a slice of paradise on Lake Champlain overlooking the Green Mountains. The personal investment and pride of the owners is obvious. The food was excellent. The view was unparalleled. The experience was memorable. This place is best for adults, but even families with older children will love it. We had the lobster ravioli and a mixed seafood entree that were both excellent. Dessert was a very thin slice of key lime pie. Most of the food is made on site and is outstanding. The views are exceptional, so dine before sunset.
Go there for a memorable experience.

Went to the North Hero House for my wife's birthday dinner. They wished her Happy Birthday when she arrive and had cute Happy Birthday stickers on the table. They had small bottles of champagne for each of us(on the house!). The dinner was a fantastic prime rib. The staff came out with a little cake and snag Happy Birthday. The piano player joined in to. It was nice and very classy. Just a great experience.

We have been here several times. It is always great. We enjoy watching the families enjoying this resort. All ages seem to have a great time. We come only for dinner. All dishes have always been very good. Our son eats the dull portion, we stick to the smaller bistro portion. It is always more than adequate.

Food was excellent...but the shopping! This is your old fashioned variety store. Need a dental pick? A nightgown? A piece of equipment to hang a tire swing? A cakemix? You don't know what you need until you see it!

They have excellent BBQ meals that can be taken out or eaten at picnic tables near Lake Champlain. If you have a boat it is an adventure to motor over for take-out.

Very sorry to have wasted a lovely evening on Lake Champlain in this dive. You might be lured in for a beer, but leave it at that, I implore you. This is a very poorly run seasonal concession. We had a large party. Every single plate of food was of the lowest possible quality. Soggy discolored fries on every plate, a greasy quesadilla--nothing but cheese and limp tortilla--a ghastly Rueben sandwich. Ug. Service was non-existent, the bartender lost in space. We had to beg for drinks. The last straw was the drone of live music--a one-man folk singing act, amplified (!)--that went on for more than a solid hour and made conversation nearly impossible. Do yourself a favor and drive over to North Hero House.
