We always treasure a trip across the border to walk to la Roca! it's such a great place they serve fried shredded beef with warm torillas and guac.and the best salsa ever! The Tamarind Margarita is fabulous and they have a band and you can dance... it's just amazingly great and better than any Mexican restaurant in the states. it's just over the Border from Nogales, AZ about 2-3 blocks. You go over the border and have a nice lunch or dinner there. it's a very easy walk and they also have a really nice store. My fav place to visit with family form Tucson!

La Roca, situated up against a rock wall on a hill in Nogales is an upscale restaurant complete with tuxedoed waiters. The atmosphere is classy without being too formal or stuffy. With an extensive menu comprised of fish, chicken, beef and pork dishes along with some vegetarian options, everyone is sure to find something to suit their preferences.
Our group of 16 had a reservation and we were seated immediately on arrival in a large private room. Service was a bit slow and several of us didn't get the dishes we actually ordered, apparently due to some confusion on the part of the wait staff.
Food was quite good and we also enjoyed a delightful mariachi performance during part of our meal.

We walked across the border just because we hadn't been to Mexico before. Nogales, I am sure, is not the nicest town in Mexico, but it was entertaining for a few hours and we had a good lunch. Two of us had the Chile Rellenos, which were good, and another had a cheese omelette (a kid who was tired of all the Mexican we have been eating around AZ), and another had the cheese enchiladas. The cheese enchiladas were the least successful because the sauce was just ok.

We got a small glass of shrimp broth upon arrival, followed with fresh salsa and chips. We tried the tuna, salmon, and arrachera steak. All dishes were good quality and generous portions. We ended the meal with small glasses of kulua and frothed milk with cinnamon powder sprinkled on top. Great service and also at reasonable prices. I was told that this restaurant has been operating here for years.

Just before noon, the restaurant was packed with people. Everyone around my table spoke Spanish... a good sign because, I guessed, they were locals.
The comida corrida (set menu) was delicious. It started with sopa de frijolitos (bean soup) with a number of different types of beans, crackers and lime to add as I wanted, and a delicious broth. The main course -- seafood tacos covered with fresh chopped lettuce and a dressing like Russian or Thousand Island -- was one of the best I've had on several trips to Mexico (mainly Mexico City and south). I was too full for dessert -- a huge slab of flan.
What a great place... especially at 80 pesos for a filling lunch! (I forgot to mention the drink, agua de tamarindo.)

If you looked around this Applebee's you may not even notice that you are in Mexico. The service and food are very good, and the menu offers Mexican dishes in addition to the standard US Applebee's fare.

We have many an outing here with older folks and my friends ( though will not allow under age people in the door ). The buckets of beers - Coronitas - remind me of Beaches in Mexico. Sometimes food is available though not the reason to visit. The Bar is an amazing antique - work a visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Toscanos. While the salad was made with the smallest tomato slices I've seen in a Caprese salad, it was delicious. The Chicken Marsala was tasty and the side of spaghetti with Marinara was just right. I enjoyed the food more than many other Italian restaurants and Toscanos gets a hearty recommendation. If you're in the mood for Italian food in Nogales, you won't be disappointed here.

A native Sonoran & business associate highly recommended this restaurant. Family/owned operated since 1958. Superb food & service, very accommodating but non-pretentious. Steak & shrimp combo plus all appropriate sides for 2 adults including tip, $49.00. Family has since opened a sister restaurant in California which is reviewed by TripAdvisor.

Restaurant bar pizzas a la legna, hamburguesas, pastas, botanas, ensaladas, rib eye y posters.
I don't want to be unfair to a new place, however, it touts fine dining and lacks the experience and service for it. The food was just average and slightly overpriced. I don't think that I'd visit again unless I really had to for a social engagement.
