Nilaveli (Tamil: நிலவெலி), (Sinhalese: නිලාවැලි) is a coastal resort town and suburb of the Trincomalee District, Sri Lanka located 16 km northwest of the city of Trincomalee. A historically popular Tamil village and tourist destination of the district alongside the nearby Uppuveli, the numbers of visitors declined following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and Sri Lankan Civil War, but have risen again since 2010. Pigeon Island National Park, one of the two marine national parks of the region is situated 1 km off the coast of Nilaveli, its many species of vegetation, coral and reef fish contributing to Nilaveli's rich biodiversity.

We went to this place after Reading all these good comments but we were disappointed. We had barbecue chicken and rice and curry with prawns. Chicken was tasty but it was quite expensive (1000 rupees) for that portion. Rice and curry was okay with 4 pieces of prawns. Owners are nice polite people but place is just overrated.

We went to this cafe for lunch having read fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor and we're not disappointed!! Absolutely delicious food and the fish was so fresh. Not too expensive so great value for money. Cannot recommend this place enough - a lot of good places to eat in Nilaveli but this is one of the best!

The is definitely a different experience to your usual boring hotel buffet! The restaurant is family run. There is also a charity assisting the differently abled which is linked to this restaurant. The seafood was the best we had in Sri Lanka. The chef cooks it all fresh when you arrive and then comes out and introduces himself. Definitely try the grilled crab!

Exceeded our expectations….
We spent the first two nights of our Honeymoon at THIRUMALAI PARK Trincomalee here and it was perfect. The setting is so beautiful and you really do feel like you are in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nature with wonderful Pigeon Island.
From the second we arrived to when we left we were completely spoilt. Our room was beautiful, the bed huge and a dream to sleep on! They had decorated our room beautifully for our arrival and then again the next day as well! The room and bathroom were so clean and air conditioning was impressive!! Food was excellent, so much choice for breakfast and dinner and environment is secured and quite harmful to spend the two days. We were also sat next to the garden by ourselves for dinner both evenings which was really lovely.
The staff here are outstanding with kindness who always have a huge smile on their face with helping mind! They really did make us wish we were staying longer. Very special thank you to Mr. Arulchelvam. What an incredibly lovely man, thank you so much for being so nice to us! Your service and friendliness will be remembered.
If you love nature and quiet and are looking to experience real Sri Lankan hospitality then you must stay here!
With regards

Nero Kitchen serves piping hot, hand stretched woodfired pizza. Savory and sweet Crêpes (including Nutella).
The pizza was really good, after our first we directly ordered a second one. The pizzaguy was really friendly and a funny dude. One star minus for the restaurant as itself is not cozy or welcoming to sit there and the music was very loud. So maybe better for takeaway

We Are True Sri Lankan Food Provider And We Have Been Doing It For Four Years Since 2015. We Serve All The Very Fresh Organic And All Fresh Sea Food Here,as We Dont Keep Our Vegetables Or Wish Types We Could Guarantee The Best Qualty To Our Guest.
The food was very tasty. We ordered a la carte (buffet wasn't set up yet): jumbo prawn curry. Large portions: 6 truly jumbo prawns for LKR 1500. Beers were 500 LKR. One of the better restaurants we have been to in Sri Lanka; we'd definitely go back. Yes, they do have a strange music selection, a sort of ambient-lounge drone, that faeded into the background when we asked them to turn the volume down. Friendly waiters. The food took a while to make (30 min), but we take that as a good sign: freshly made.

Arrived in Trico late ish on Friday night. As season was coming to a close, the hotel we we're staying in was very quiet so we went up the road to find food and adventure, which we found at Gaga. Great proprietor, who makes everyone welcome and at ease. Been back each day since. I think this will remain so until we travel back to Blighty. Only minor issue was access to the loos, but once you get the hang of it, not a problem!

Authentic Seafood cooked in Sri Lankan, Chinese and Western dishes. Cocktail bar with Chill out and Jazz music
Reading excellent opinions on TripAdvisor we chose Sana place to eat during our first evening in Trincomalee. Unfortunately we encountered the slowest service ever, even though we were the only clients at that moment (it took the waiter 15 minutes to go to the kitchen and come back with the info that they don't serve the dish we ordered). Then he brought drinks- orange juice was so watery - they must have mixed half water and half juice, terrible, no orange taste. Then the waiter mistook the dish one of us ordered and brought the wrong one. Ok, everyone can misunderstand but it took another 20 mins to get the right meal. Which, by the way, was overcooked and bland! Terrific experience.... Wouldn't recommend to anyone

We had a seat as soon as we arrived however we waited for 30min to order the food and 1,5h to have it on the table, way too long although we knew it from other advisors. The quality was really good, we had a very tasty and well cocked grilled fish and noodles. Price was quite cheap for the quality. The staff was friendly and nice despite the slowness. Thanks
