My wife and I went to Port City Sandwich in Newburyport MA on Labor Day 2017. The menu was extensive with intetesting choices. I got the four cheese grilled cheese sandwich- cheddar, swiss, american and provolone. The sandwich was not melted enough and it tasted like just a glob of cheese. You could not taste any one cheese.
My wife got the southwestern wrap. I tried a bit of hers and it was good but a little too spicy but I am a wimp when it comes to spicy food.
I would definitely try them again. They were very busy when we went in and they have so many choices.

Can't miss with a stop in here. A local place with a sporty atmosphere but not rowdy. A wait is well worth it - generally quick turnover. Fancier places in town but none with just plain dependable good food at very reasonable prices. Nice selection of draft beer. Make sure you check out the 'specials' - I wish some were always on the menu. Don't let the parking lot turn you off - you will find a space.

Staff was superb, friendly and attentive! Drinks unique and delicious! The Food, Unreal, the PEI oysters were spectacular; the chowder and beef tartare divine. The lobster dish with fennel confit, root vegetables and lentils was generous, a work of art and the flavors complimented each other flawlessly; the chicken stuffed with crawfish had smoked onions, apple and pumpkin spaetzle, Amazing. Let's not forget the focaccia with sumac and coriander, never tasted anything like it, Superb. Then of course desert, Pistachio cake, not sure if there are words to describe what the chef created here, it was complimented with elderflower meringue, a citrus gelee etc. The food will leave you wishing you were staying longer! Brine will not disappoint!

I was really looking forward to trying a bagel from Abraham's. What a disappointment! They do NOT live up to the glowing reviews. I totally get it that some neighborhood places, especially independent ones, have an aura about them that drive some people crazy. Abraham's is apparently one of these places. A long line at 8 am this morning built my excitement...couldn't wait to get my bagels! The self-serve coffee is good and super, super hot. The bagels are woeful. They do not have a proper bagel crust, leathery and chewy. They do not have a proper bagel inside, dense and also chewy. Abraham's bagels (I ordered poppy seed and Asiago) taste like rolls. The Asiago had a cheesy taste exactly like what I remember the old A&P cheese bread tasted like. The less said about the cream cheese, the better. Newburyport has a ton of great dining options at various price points. What it doesn't have is a decent bagel shop. I won't be back, and I do not recommend Abraham's for anything but coffee.

We went to visit some family that recently moved to Salisbury from ME and so we went in there for a late lunch. All I can say is everything was very good at the buffet and some of the things they didn't have out, they just brought to our table which is something that I am not use to (red grilled chicken drumsticks). Most of the buffets, they put out trays of things and you just take what you want. It was much later in the day so we were happy regardless. Part of our party don't eat meat and we enjoyed the food immensely !!! I would definitely go back there to dine - earlier around lunch some that I can have some of the fried onions & potato tray which we picked clean for the most part. All the vegetarian dishes were the best in the area that I have ever had !! We get very good Indian food in Waltham, BUT this place blows them away hands down, the best in the area that I know of !!! :-)
The waiters there were extremely attentive to us: we had three small kids and nothing was a problem for them and rarely did we even have to ask them for extra napkins or whatever. At one point the youngest baby tripped over her older brother's water and they waiters came with napkins very quickly without asking them! <3 At one point, one of the older boys (5?) wanted some more naan bread and the waiter brought some over for us to take home! The food we didn't eat, they gave us containers to bring home! I have never seen a buffet place allow you to take uneaten food home!! It wasn't like it was a little bit - we took home an order of naan, a three other containers almost full. :D The mom of the kids was happy that the husband when he got home had dinner all set for him and that translated into more rest time. <3
Parking is very tight - just a few spaces, but there is parking on the streets around it.
Please try this place out and don't be shy to bring your kids regardless of age! <3
Thanks again to the wonderful waitstaff for making our experience so pleasant. :D

We usually get the food to go - kind of a Friday night ritual. Been doing this for years, and food is always delicious. The restaurant is pleasant, and servers are very nice. If you love Tandoori Chicken Tikka or Chicken Tikka Masala, this is your place. Jewel in the Crown is definitely one of Newburyport's best restaurants.

We enjoyed dining outside for dinner. Was a long wait for the table, but well worth it. Food was delicious and the portions were enormous! There were three of us and we had lots of leftovers. Service was little spotty, but quite pleasant - there appeared to be only one waiter for all of the outdoor seating. Will definitely return.

The current location offers beautiful waterfront restaurant and some of the best dining in Newburyport.
We were quickly seated at a table overlooking the Merrimack River, where we enjoyed the sunny water view as waterfowl soared overhead.
My companion started with escargot, and chose for her entrée, the salad made of artisan lettuce, maple-walnut vinaigrette, spicy walnuts, crumbled goat cheese. The haddock puttanesca intrigued me--it had all my favorite veggies, but I had never had it with haddock. It was delicious. Our server indicated that it was their most popular dish. The Rêves De Chocolat (Dreams of Chocolate) “a rich flourless chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache, chocolate truffle, raspberry sauce and crème anglaise” was quite decadent! We were celebrating so we also indulged in wonderful beverages. There is an excellent selection of wines and beers. My companion is in search of the perfect cappuccino, to top the ones she enjoyed in California many decades ago. The cappuccino at the Black Cow was close to her perfect beverage, but not quite there.
We were informed by our server that the restaurant is closing for a brief period and moving to a new location about 30 feet away. We can't wait to try it.

I had the beet salad....there weren't very many beets and very little goat cheese. On the other hand the salmon I added was a good sized piece. I had the bread pudding for dessert (without the sauce - I didn't want it) but with delicious homemade whipped cream. Dessert was yummy.
