With German names on the street signs, summer bier gartens and the annual Wurstfest, New Braunfels blends the character of its German namesake with the charm and beauty of Texas Hill Country. Old World heritage is abundant in the Historic District of Gruene, featuring the ruins of the original Gristmill and live music at the Gruene Hall. Those in search of more modern fun can check out the Schlitterbahn waterpark, spelunk in the Natural Bridge Caverns or test the waters at Canyon Lake.

We made reservations for Easter Sunday dinner. It was our first visit and we were extremely pleased with everything that all six of us ordered. The restaurant has traditional German decor, efficient friendly service, and superior German foods. There is a good sized menu. Serving portions are generous. They do not have a children's menu, but our two children split a meal and it was perfect.

Wow nice place for a meal. Lovely spot, nicely decorated, roomy with a warm atmosphere. Food was excellent, service was good. Lots of great items on the menu, good prices. We will return on a sunny day to enjoy the outdoor spaces and check out other items on the menu.

Lot of my clients in San Antonio, drive to New Braunfels to eat here, had to try it. Solid performance by enthusiastic staff. Nia our server made several suggestions that proved to be good choices. Thanks Nia,Nia is an example of one of our many great staff members. We are fortunate to also have a great kitchen staff that can help us execute our menu on a consistent basis. This was an excellent choice for dinner in Gruene. Moderately priced with a nice selection of entrees. If you’re looking for something other than just a steakhouse, this is the place!
In addition to steak entrees, they offer lots of chicken and seafood choices some with a Tex Mex twist. They also have burgers and salads and a kid’s menu. Try the Jalapeno Crawfish Chowder Soup, Delish!
The restaurant is quite large, with a rustic but comfortable atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside with a river view. Just make sure you make reservations if it is a weekend night. This place gets pretty busy.
I had the Grilled Chicken Picatta which was different from the traditional preparation. It had artichokes and mushrooms and was quite tasty. My husband had the Jumbo Fried Shrimp which was equally as good. Just keep in mind, the portions here are large. So this is the perfect place to share an appetizer with friends. The Shrimp Wontons are amazing.
Service was excellent and the quality of food here is equally as good. Everything is freshly prepared. Can’t recommend enough. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Enjoy Texas Creole Favorites, Authentic Cajun Specialties or our Fresh Fish at McAdoo's Seafood Company, located Downtown New Braunfels, TX in the old Post Office. Find the right atmosphere in our Treasury Bar, indoor dining or newly renovated, fully covered patio with live music.
Didn't know where to eat in New Braunsfels. People recommended Gristmill and McAdoo's. We checked out the Gristmill and nixed it it. Too big, too noisy and totally tourist. McAdoo's is the exact opposite. Nice atmosphere, local and relatively quiet. About the same prices either place. Meals at McAdoo's were excellently prepared. We had the Mahi mahi etouffe and char-broiled oysters. Would go back again in an instant.

Situated on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River, this spectacular restaurant nestled under the shade of towering oak trees has been the perfect getaway for a unique casual dining experience for thirty years. Located in the historic district of Gruene just beneath the famous Gruene water tower, we opened in 1977, serving steaks and hamburgers from a tiny kitchen in the corner of the building. Our menu still features thick steaks and large hamburgers, but the restaurant also serves up popular South Texas fare like chicken fried steak, fried catfish, grilled chicken, enormous sandwiches, fresh fish and special dishes like tomatillo chicken and bronzed catfish. Fudge pie, the enormous strawberry shortcake and our signature Jack Daniel's Pecan Pie are famous desserts. A full bar with a good wine list and fresh squeezed lime margaritas are also big hits.
This is a lovely place to enjoy a meal. It's very popular with locals as well as tourists so don't be put off if your wait-time is 30 to 40 minutes. Grab a seat at a picnic table outside, order some drinks, chips and salsa from the bar and enjoy the pleasant surroundings of this historic mill. Your name goes on a chalkboard outside so keep an eye on that but they do call out your name as well. Seating is varied, you can request inside or outside or you can be inside but with an open view to the river. There is an outside deck that is very pleasant, as well as a few inside areas that still have open access to the outdoors. The brick walls and wood floors and ceiling really give this place a nice feel. Waitstaff are very pleasant and aim to please. Great margarita's, tender and delicious ribs, juicy burgers and lots more to choose from.

This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. If you are ever in the area, it's worth the trip to check out the history that's behind this popular location. You better come early, standing room only is a common sight here.
Delicious Food, great prices, nice staff. This place draws the crowds but they are quick to get you a table. Would highly recommend if you are anywhere near the area because you will not be disappointed. This place is casual. Quick fast & efficient service with the best fish and prices you will get in this area. Worth checking out.

I'm a local so frequent here mostly on Thursdays to avoid the weekend crowds. Their list of Texas wines and beers is fairly impressive and the venue is typical Gruene. Two of my favorite people to hear live that play here are Tommy Elskes (sort of Van Morrison ish) and Sylvia Kirk (sort of Stevie Nicks ish.) The outdoor seating is amongst the shade trees and spray misters which makes the summer heat bearable. It's still going to be hot folks.... it's South Texas.... in the summer. :)

Came in this morning for breakfast. Have been here before so I knew it would be good. Recommend the Shirred Eggs with sourdough toast. If you like your egg yolk a little runny this is a great dish for you. Coffee cup always full and nice homey atmosphere

All appetizers and all wines are 50% off during happy hour. Fried green tomatoes and crab cake apps were great. All entrees were excellent, truly great evening with memorable food and wine!
