Each time that I eat at a Mexican restaurant, my satisfaction varies. This location was pretty good but was not necessarily one of my favorites. The portions were very good and the service as well. But the tastiness of Mexican restaurants varies from one location to another as well as from one individual to another. But is was an enjoyable experience altogether.

This is a hidden treasure of a coffee shop in Nebraska City. Great Coffee and breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Great staff that are always welcoming! even if you're not local and in a small town, this is most important! Very quiet with nice tables, booths and free wi-fi. Very clean bathrooms with all the paper products, soap, etc. that is needed. We have just found a great place to surf the web, enjoy a small meal or snack and have a great cup of coffee. Better than Starbucks (thought Nebraska City doesn't have one of those). I almost hate to review this as it's bound to get too busy for us to get a table. So far it's kind of undiscovered but they are really good!

We had ice cream for dinner on our visit to Nebraska City. It was very good. They only serve ice cream, where we live they have a full fast food menu. But attached to it (literally) is a Taco Johns so have dinner first then dessert (or be like us and have ice cream for dinner. :)

The Timber Dining Room at Lied Lodge - Nebraska City, Nebraska.Serving local, sustainable food in a nature-inspired setting.Open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunches.
My husband & I ate breakfast in the dining room around 8 am after a long walk around the beautiful grounds. The place was pretty much empty-3 tables were occupied. The host was borderline rude and seemed uninterested in seating us. Perhaps he was having a bad day, breakfast was adequate but nothing special. The view was wonderful.

After visiting a junk fair, my group of 8-of-us lady friends looked for someplace unique to have lunch. What a perfect lunch-with-the-ladies spot! (Plenty of men were there enjoying their lunch, too!) I love seeing old buildings preserved with integrity and re-purposed with intentionality. The cafe and its adjoining gift shop are a treasure trove of unique home decorating finds. We had fun just reading all the humorous wooden signs near our table. The Polish pottery that is for sale and on which all food is served is a beautiful "welcome to our home" touch.
The food was delightful - not fussy, but the unique menu I look for when eating out. A friend and I shared our plates of Pear Walnut Chicken Salad and Caprese Sandwich. Very tasty and just right portions. Other ladies said the Prime Rib Sandwich and the Prime Rib Salad were perfect. Their desserts are all homemade from scratch ingredients, so we delighted in the pies - coconut creme, apple praline (I'll get that next time for sure), cherry. Two others reveled in the Brownie Sundaes served tall in parfait glasses. A few glasses of moscato and riesling made the mid-day lunch special. I will definitely go out of my way to enjoy this spot on another day trip to Nebraska City.

The decoration is all about ladybugs. I could appreciate it.
As for the food, it's pretty good. My boyfriend (who is the meat and potato type) really liked it. Me being a light eater, I wasn't as much of a fan of it.
That said, it was good. It's a place I'd consider visiting again if I'm in Nebraska City.

We stop here whenever we're in town for any meal that we are around for. Have had their breakfasts and lunches and both are excellent. We had the blue plate specials this time for lunch. I tried the sliced roast beef (HUGE PORTION!), mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and dinner roll. My husband had the hamburger steak with grilled onions, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans and dinner roll. We took the dinner rolls home along with 7 full oz. of my roast beef and I ate a good 1/3 of what the portion. Really good and very tasty and even though they were packed, we got our food pretty quickly. With tax and tip a $20 took care of the bill and with the size of portions and all the food we took home, I think it was a good value. The food is top drawer and properly prepared and we highly recommend this place for a good solid midwestern meal.

Good choices of food on the buffet but I wasn't impressed with the pizza. Not enough sauce on any of them. They have 3 or 4 choices of pizza. Decent salad bar. Good dessert bar with ice cream.

It sounds awful, I know...essentially a "hot pocket" with meat, cheese, and ... cabbage. Yes, that's right. Cabbage.
The mere description of it kept me from consuming it in the past, but my wife, on a trip to Nebraska this weekend, stated that a Runza was one of her favorite foods in all the world, so we stopped here and I ordered a salad, the kids ordered burgers and chicken, and my wife got her Runza.
She talked me into taking a bite. Oh my gosh, it's so GOOD! She does a good job of broadening my horizons, and I'm hooked on the Runza!
It's very unique. But try it...even if the sound of cabbage on a sandwich is not appealing to you. You may find, like me, that it's delicious!

We had their onion petals (very good - not your typical onion ring) and a pizza. There is one size of pizza - 16 in. Tasty!! The menu is limited, but has a nice variety to offer any customer. Seems to have ample seating. On street parking. There are handicapped spots right in front. Very good service.
