We were starving and a member of our party said that this was the best place to eat in Nauvoo. I believe our expectations were not met. First of all, we weren't very hungry and just wanted a small meal-not the buffet. We were tired...MoreOur menu offers the "Salad Bar Only" at a greatly reduced price. We are so sorry that you missed it, but we hope that you will be our guest again in the very near future.

Wait staff was attentive. Food was good - our table had burgers and catfish. Large portions. Kinnick is the only bar/restaurant in Montrose, supported mostly by locals. Reasonable prices. Nice to have windows looking onto the Mississippi. Bartender would cater more to the locals and wasn't overly friendly.

We arrived in Nauvoo on a Monday, and this was the only place open. Luckily for us, it had amazing food. Even better was the service. Somehow, even with all the customers, the lady at the counter was among the friendliest of humans. There are tons of things at the shop to take home as well.

I had to most delicious Lemon Custard that I have ever had. I don't usually eat sweets because I have type II diabetes. When I do branch out and eat a sweet treat there is not better place than Annie's to get melt in your mouth treats. Go early to choose from the most variety or you will have limited choices, but allare good.

I had heard of this place from some friends. This BBQ place is located on a river road, somewhat in the middle of nowhere, you will see a sign for a taxidermy place before you see this place. Don't worry they don't get the meat from them, hahaha.
The location was beautiful, it's built in amongst the trees. It was cool the day we stopped but has outdoor seating, a small wooden swing to swing on, and what looked like a small kids swing. The smell of the hardwood smoke coming from the smokehouse was just so inviting in the cool air. When my family and I (4 adults and a 1 yr old) walked in, the place was bright and roomy, you can see a big screen tv at the bar and plenty of seating.
Right next to the main door was the start of the food line. They had so many choices, pulled pork, pork ribs, smoked & chopped chicken, beef brisket, smoked meatloaf, burnt ends, baked potatoes, baked beans, garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, potato salad, snicker salad, pasta salad, the items to choose from went on and on. They even had a small childs menu for $5.
I had the brisket and paid an extra $4 to use one of my sides (1 meat and 2 sides is a meal) for burnt ends, a side of sweet potatoes and later came back up and paid $3 for a side of potato salad. The brisket was moist and had good smoke flavor. The burnt ends were good, had a lot of smokey flavor to them but were not dried out. The potato salad was good. The sweet potatoes were good but I like candied yams better. I tasted my grandson's garlic mashed potatoes and I loved them. I was full quick and still had some brisket and potato salad left. My wife got the loaded baked potato with chopped brisket and lots of other toppings, the snicker salad, green bean casserole for $14. She was given enough to make two meals out of it. With everything my wife and I ordered our meals with drinks was less than $40. My daughter, her husband and son all ate for less then $40 also.
Also, this place will cater for you.

On a Sunday evening in Nauvoo, IL on May1st there aren't too many places to grab a bite to east. Until later in May, weekend evenings is like a ghost town. Rather than drive 40 minutes to a DQ we took our chances on this gas station/convenience store. Two high school boys were cooking. Neither of them had eaten a hamburger ($3.99) but we gulped and ordered two. Actually, they weren't bad at all except you pay extra for lettuce and tomato. I think they used salad lettuce (small pieces instead of a leaf), and a tomato about 1 inch in diameter. But it was filling and more tasty than some of the drive-thru places in this part of the world.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Yesterday I found the Fort Diner, a little out of the way place in Fort Madison, Iowa. From the outside it appeared a bit seedy but the food was great. Today, amid the cornfields of Nauvoo, Illinois, I found another out of the way shack. Alas, this one had few redeeming qualities. In brief, the place was dingy, the service totally indifferent and the food edible but no better than.fast food: I ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich and was served a commercially prepared pork patty which had been deep fried and put in a hamburger bun with some wilted lettuce and tomato. Nothing to get excited about.
