Nakhon Si Thammarat (Thai: นครศรีธรรมราช, pronounced [ná(ʔ).kʰɔ̄ːn sǐː tʰām.mā.râːt]; from Pali Nagara Sri Dhammaraja) is a city (thesaban nakhon) in southern Thailand, capital of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and the Nakhon Si Thammarat District. It is about 610 km (380 mi) south of Bangkok, on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula. The city was the administrative center of southern Thailand during most of its history. Originally a coastal city, silting moved the coastline away from the city. The city has a much larger north to south extension than west to east, which dates back to its original location on a flood-save dune. The modern city centre on the train station is north of Old Town. As of 2005, the city had a population of 105,417.

Chaoruea restuarant is one of a long-established local restaurants in Nakhon town. My husband's friend hosted this meal and ordered about 10 dishes in total. The local southern food was slightly salty and extremely spicy, seafood was very fresh. I enjoyed the sauteed crab and streamed snakehead fish with chillies very much.
Another thing that amazed me was, the wooden decorations inside the restaurant. The planks used for stairs and benches were huge and very rare.

Located in the town. The front looks like a old restaurant. Enter and you are taken to the back where it opens up to a nice dining area. Good Thai food. Price is reasonable, not cheap.

It is next to City Hall of the province. The atmosphere is good, It is like an old coffee shop in vintage style. The Chinese Bun is really good. Its dough is soft and the filling is delicious. For Bak Kut Teh, it is delicious too. Its soup is tasty, the pork ribs is soft and juicy. But sticky rice with topping is not so good because the rice is too hard. However, this maybe the perfect place for your breakfast.

It locate near Grand park hotel. It's old local food, may be many year operate from gen to gen. The price of seafood is not high compare to the food quality and taste. The food is not too much spice, but still in southern style, so easy to eat both for Thai and foreigner.
I recommend Pla Krapong tod nampla (Sea bass deep fried with fish sauce), Poo gon nueang (Carb meat steam), Bai miang pad khai (Miang leaves stir fried with egg).
I pretty sure that you will love and taste it

This "traditional style" Thai cafe also serves excellent Chinese Breakfasts, Dim Sum and light meals throughout the day!! The numerous decorations are very interesting,as are the selection of beverages. One can also meet other interesting "locals" and travellers!! It will be remembered as a very enjoyably place to have spent some time!!

Difficult to find a proper southern restaurant in town, here is the one which represent a real southern food. We can choose an ingredient for cooking, various local vegetable choices.
Seems they open all day (until 4.00am), plenty of parking lot. Price is a bit higher than average but acceptable.
