Mostar (Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [mǒstaːr]) is a city and municipality in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Inhabited by 105,797 people, it is the most important city in the Herzegovina region, its cultural capital, and the center of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation. Mostar is situated on the Neretva River and is the fifth-largest city in the country. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most recognizable landmarks, and is considered one of the most exemplary pieces of Islamic architecture in the Balkans.

We have been recommended this place as an excellent. Even there was free tables although with sign reserved we have not seen anyone sitting there during our lunch. We have been offered outside sitting without tablecloth. Our minestrone soup was very average, so was our lesagnia and salad. Service was ok. I am not sure that I would be back.

Upon arriving in Mostar and asking our hostel host where to get something to eat nearby, we were informed that the restaurants near the old bridge were, as is to be expected, generally quite overpriced and touristy. All of them, that is, aside from Hindin Han. We appreciated this recommendation, and went to give it a try. Unlike the others, I immediately noticed that there was no one outside trying to entice unsuspecting tourists in; to me that spoke volumes about the worth of the place.
The staff were all middle aged local men, but quite friendly. The Seating area is entirely upstairs, with only a bar area downstairs. In the summer I believe there is also a balcony from which the bridge area is also visible. The Seating area is nice and rustic, like an old Ottoman inn.
The local wine was only 15 Marks for a litre, so we ordered a white to share. It was initially just smooth and inoffensive, but we both agreed that the flavour grew as we progressed through it. I ordered a local cheese platter to start with and then we decided to sample the grilled meat platter for two (it’s only 25 Marks, though there are some bigger ones going for 60-80 Marks which looked amazing if you have a larger group).
The main course arrived shortly after we finished our starters - surprisingly quick for a platter, but the cheese and bread was great to snack on while we waited. The platter was absolutely huge; in the UK you would never get a meat platter of that size for that price, and have it labelled as a dish for two. We struggled, but we managed to get through it. The veal steak was great, even if on the bone, though my favourite part was probably the enormous grilled chicken breast or the chicken skewers. The cevapcici, offered as a substitute for liver, were also good. I was pleasantly surprised by the chips, which were seasoned excellently with some paprika and spices as well as a good amount of salt.
We enjoyed this experience, and the mere €8ish per head price tag, so much that we went back for lunch the next day. My friend’s omelette, though advertised as a starter, was still fairly massive. I had the Cordon Bleu which, whilst good, wasn’t as good as the other two meals we had there. The lunch staff were slightly less friendly than the evening staff had been the previous night, and the soft drink sizes were tiny for the price (equal to a 0.5l beer for a 0.25l coke).
Nonetheless, we went back the next day for one last meal before leaving Bosnia. This time, they offered us homemade orange juice as a drink; thankfully much larger than a coke and very fresh and tasty. I also had the ground beef stuffed with cheese this time, which, if you aren’t sharing the meat platter, I would highly recommend - just as I would recommend the whole restaurant in general.

This restaurant located right next to the river and we had a great evening there! Nice house wine and lovely cevapi, vegatable grilled and nice steak!!!!! We are happy that we visited this place, though it is quite hidden behind all the touristic restaurants on the main street!

We took shelter here whilst a Thunder storm raged overhead and thoroughly enjoyed being the only customers whilst enjoying a couple of beers. Interesting watching the side river turning from a clear gentle steam into a raging brown Torrent
Friendly staff . would have gone for food if we had the time

Great place to eat. Food is excellent. The staff were efficient and friendly and we really enjoyed our meals. The kitchen is "open", so that you can see in which way you meal is prepared, also have a very extensive wine list.

This place was amazing!
Amazing food and priced wonderfully - the best food we have had in a while in the region. It’s usually meat meat meat, so this was refreshing with all the extra veges we got! And the owner was super receptive with our kids. She noticed my son was downing all the cucumbers and came back quickly with a plate full of them!
The roasted zucchini and the spices beef stock was our favorite.
Definitely will come back again!!

We came here for dinner and the view from the balcony was absolutely fabulous. It was one of the highlights of our trip so far. For dinner we had the special platter which was a mixed grill with more than enough food for the 2 of us. The service was friendly and efficient. If you are in Mostar for the evening, I highly recommend a dinner here.

Food House Restaurant is located in a small alley , next to a small river, some 30 meters away from the Old Bridge. It is positioned away from the crowds but still in the center, just behind the Tourist info Centre and Tabacica Mosque. We serve Bosnian, Italian and Mediterranean food. We feature Bosnian home-style food, Pastas, Risotto, Fish, Grilled meat dishes, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals and Deserts.
We had the breaded egg plant, vegetable plate and chicken sticks. All of it was very very underwhelming. The eggplant was overlooked and was more bread then eggplant, the chicken was dry.
But worst of all the vegetable plate was suppose to come with hummus and we asked where it was and the waiter tried to convince us that coleslaw was hummus. As a regular hummus eater it was just an insult
