Mossel Bay is a harbour town of about 130,000 people on the Southern Cape (or Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape Province), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape Province. The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay.

The Café Gannet Restaurant is Mossel Bay's seafood House. Acclaimed for local seafood specialties, ingeniously prepared. Coastal oysters, black mussels and Mossel Bay Sole are delivered daily from the harbour to make a delectable and varied a la carte menu, which includes pizza, salads, meat dishes, light lunches and Rainbow Cuisine. For a relaxing afternoon, come and enjoy a cocktail overlooking the Indian Ocean... The Cafe Gannet is a great treat, which will please the most discerning palate - very trendy, so bookings are recommended.
This appeared to be the only place open the one night we had in Mossel Bay... fortunately it had good reviews and looked a good choice from the outside.
We sat outside on the back patio overlooking a corner of the Bay, absolutely beautiful!
The only problem we had was that the Waitstaff seemed a bit unorganised. It was busy and there were a couple of large groups, but it seemed like the patrons out on the patio were regularly forgotten about.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming though.
I had a starter of the Patagonian Calamari and then my wife and I shared the couples sushi platter. Simply divine! Great sushi, my calamari was cooked to within seconds of perfection! Very, very happy!

This cosy coffee shop is situated in a Victorian-inspired pavilion, with outdoor Seating available in the lush courtyard. Breakfast and lunch are served - and whether you feel like a cappuccino and a slice of cake, a breakfast or a light lunch, Fynbos Coffee Shop serves it with flair. It is a busy coffee shop and popular lunchtime meeting spot during the day. Dishes are inspired by local availability, trends and the seasons, with something for every taste. Due to the nature of our business we do not allow children under ten years.
Fynbos is a special place to sit down and relax and take your time. Excellent coffee available, Hazz from Stellenbosch. A must try is the Tomato bredie!! Absolutely finger licking great!! Great selection of desserts too. Dont expect fast food. If you are in a hurry a Wimpy or similar fast food establishment would probably suit your needs better. I have at least three cappucinos every time I visit so I do enjoy taking my time here and chat to the very friendly and efficient staff. A winning formula. Well done to Theo and his team!!

Traditional South African braai BBQ, we had the lamb and ribs. The ribs were tasty as was the lamb chops didn't like the lamb sausage. Setting is nice on the waterfront but be advised it outside eating on the sand at picnic tables. Interesting to watch how the food is cooked. It's nice place for a break away from the traditional restaurant setting.

Route 57 Restaurant, is a Louis Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open Champion themed Restaurant in Mossel Bay. In 2000, Louis played his lowest round of golf at Mossel Bay Golf Club - a 57 gross (15 under par) - You can see his score card in the lounge area. In life we are always on the road to somewhere and so Route 57 was born. This would not have been possible without the support and input of our family and friends. We want to thank them all for making this possible. The hand of our Heavenly Father is behind us to protect us, below us to carry us, in front of us to lead us and most of all in us to create Route57. We thank Him for what He has blessed us with and bless you for what you are about to enjoy at Route 57.
Visited this restaurant this evening. Had a very ordinary meal. Nothing to complain about but no wow factor. Both had fish curry to start which was nice then fillet steak which was very ordinary. Wouldn't rush back to this restaurant!

This is the kind of place you mention casually in conversation and everybody somehow seems to know it. It was horrifically busy when we went, probably because it was the height of tourist season - this required us to wait outside for a table. No problem, because the proprietor, the eponymous Baruch, kept everyone chilled and entertained. When we eventually got a table, we stepped into the most awesome smelling place. I was under no illusion that they definitely roast on site. The menu is simple but the food excellent. Remember to order and pay at the counter. No table service, at least not when we were there. I also ended up buying a lot of olives and sauces. Everything is well priced and there was no suggesting of tourist season price gauging. 10/10 would go back.

This is a good restaurant if you like high fat - loads of cream and tinned mushrooms on your omelettes.
The staff are great though and the views are spectacular - it’s just not the type of food that health conscious eaters will enjoy.
