OK, you read the reviews, and quickly determine there is a go-to item on the menu---cinnamon rolls. Who doesn't like a fresh gooey pastry loaded with cinnamon and slathered in glaze? My mouth waters just thinking about it! Pacific Beach, Washington coast, is about as laid back a place as you'll find anywhere in the USA. Formal wear is like wearing a black t-shirt and jeans instead of shorts and a while t-shirt emblazoned with some company's logos, you know, the one you picked up for free during a promotional event. We arrive just before noon looking for a couple of the famous cinnamon rolls and they're already sold out that day. OK, well, snooze you lose. So the next day we arrive at 8:30 a.m. looking for at least two to eat on the spot and two to go, only to find there's just one left in the whole joint. Now if I was operating the place, I'd think about upping production a bit so as to not run out of product so early in the day. Can you imagine the dollar amount of lost sales for a seemingly mom-and-pop establishment? Maybe the goal here isn't to make money. Maybe they are comfortable making one batch of cinnamon rolls each day and have created a mystique and a demand for something that is relatively unobtainable. Maybe the proprietors are much more savvy than I'm giving credit. And maybe after laying into one of the pastries, and finding it doughy, and, well, quite average, well maybe I'm really missing something here.

Ocean Crest Dining

Reviewed By overthehill79 - Seattle, Washington

While staying at Iron Springs Resort for two nights, finding eateries in the area is a challenge unless one wants to drive south to Ocean Shores. We elected to have dinner one evening at Ocean Crest Resort as we heard it was good.
We were seated upon arrival as there were only two other parties in the restaurant at the time. Our server was Kyle who did a good job making sure our needs were met. He told us about the evening specials, took our drink order (2 Ice teas @ $2.50 each) then took our dinner orders when returned with our drinks. My wife ordered Salmon ($38) and I, Chicken Piccata ($29).
Both were served warm with a nice presentation. Our bill came to $89.22.
Food was good but pricey.
The restaurant lacks any atmosphere, being in a large room with high angled ceilings. It had a 'cold' feeling about it. We could see a little of the ocean due to the limited view through the trees in a ravine below.
Given the expense, I doubt we would return

Red Velvet Bakery by the Sea

Reviewed By John M - Bainbridge Island, WA

Red Velvet Bakery is such a cute place that it should be prompting raves. But the pastry case provides more disappointments than accolades since just about everything is slathered in icing. A plain croissant and a gluten-free breakfast bar were about the only offerings available to those of us seeking something savory not super sweet; both were fine, but certainly not extraordinary, especially considering the high prices. My single-tall latte ($5) was of similar quality and brought the bill for 3 breakfast items to a very pricy $13. Many customers, especially families, seem to fall hard for Red Velvet's cinnamon rolls, which are the size of small pillows, but again are covered with icing to an extreme degree. Perhaps that's what a beach bakery means to most folks, but we still believe that there should be at least a handful of alternative, healthier choices, especially if trying to draw repeat customers.

Pleasant restaurant with good service. We ordered a house salad and a pizza. Wine selection was disappointing; no Italian or even Italian-style reds. Salad came with fresh ingredients, but tossed with a sugary dressing that made it nearly inedible. The sweet balsamic drizzled over the arugula on our pizza was more successful, but the glazed crust baffled us. Ingredients were fresh and good quality, but despite the limited options in Seabrook we decided not to return.

Mill 109 Restaurant and Pub

Reviewed By Tundra74 - Tumwater, Washington

After hearing from several friends how great Mill 109 was, I had to try it for myself (and friends who came with). I had the fish and chips with salad. I also had the clam chowder. My friends had the longshore cheeseburger and mac and cheese. We came for lunch on a Saturday and while this is a smaller restaurant, we were able to get seated right away despite the place being busy. My fish and chips were fresh, crispy, not greasy and the best I have had in years. The chowder was delicious. Just perfect. The salad was incredibly fresh with lots of cucumbers and lettuce. Loved their house ranch. Service was fast, responsive, and pricing was okay, albeit a bit spendy. I would definitely go back here. Both the food and atnoshpere was great! What a hidden gem. Mill 109 lives up to the hype.

After moving to Ocean Shores several years ago, my husband and I set about talking to the locals looking for little hidden gems where we could find an affordable bite to eat. Someone told us that the Moclips Country Store made the best burgers and affordable pizza by the slice or pie. Being junk food junkies we had to try (over several visits) almost everything on the menu. Their crunchy mini tacos are cooked fresh to order and the best ever, they make a huge order of freshly cooked tater tots that'll feed a small family, and offer a special of the day with our favorite being Taco Tuesdays - freshly prepared fry bread tacos (or fry bread w/ cinnamon & sugar) every Tuesday. Nothing fancy, just one of the best delis around! There are no tables, but the parking lot overlooks a beautiful stretch of beach and is one of our favorite perches to watch the waves come rolling in.

Four razor diggers were looking for a meal in anticipation of our dig the next morning. We met Ryan for the first time as our waiter at the Sea Gate. The menu had enough variety to give us some choices. So ordered drinks and settled into a very energetic young man who knew the works about this place. Ryan was a pleasure to meet and he does it all at the Sea Gate. We chose the oysters which I found quite good, wife found them small and cold, although the baked potato she liked. All in all we had a pleasant meal in a local place that was a good experience and we would advise as a choice if in the area.

Located across the street from the Pacific Beach Inn, it's a natural stop for a morning coffee or latte. It's also the only place in town open before nine. Lattes, both with milk and non-dairy milk, were really good. They have cookies and house-baked cinnamon rolls, along with some hot breakfast sandwiches and waffles. Would be nice for an iced latte on a hot summer day, too.
