Went to Goya the first night on the island. Only seats available when making Reservations was at the bar which is smoking permitted but had no carryover of smoke so it was very acceptable. The food was very good and at the bar you can watch all the preparation. Even though the place was packed, the staff were attentive and helpful. Enjoyed the show and the patron participation is in the true party spirit. Dancing around the room and picture taking is the norm. Will come back the next time we visit Miyakojima. Suggest you arrive by 7 PM at the latest. Parking can be a challenge.

We loved this place! It had *everything* we were looking for, literally.
We came to Miyako in the first week of September and were looking for a friendly Japanese restaurant, with good food, a nice atmosphere, (wifi!) an English menu (quite uncommon here, I think), drinks, and comfortable, relaxed surroundings. We found all of that here!
I was a bit unsure at first, as from the outside it looks quite posh - I was worried it might be a bit too formal (we're not the formal sort), but it was perfect.
The staff were great, friendly, attentive, and guided us to our table, and the place to store our shoes. They supplied an English version of the menu, and were well humoured and patient with our lack of Japanese (we only know a handful of words).
The menu was varied, and we picked a number of dishes (yes, maybe too many!) and tried some cocktails with the local alcoholic drink. All the food was fantastic, and the tapas style small dishes allowed us to try so many things. Everything is *very* reasonably priced.
The restaurant also had free wifi! Really, as a traveller only able to keep in touch with home when free wifi is available, this is such a boon, and quite rare.
The atmosphere here was relaxed, friendly and it was the busiest place we saw in town during our stay - always a good sign. We would have come here every night, had we discovered it sooner.
We had a really lovely night, :)

We had the Tako-don and fried tako (tako itame) ramen. It was the best meal we've had. Simple and cheap. Both at 700yen each. Comes with a small side dish and soup for the don. Menu is in japanese, though. Service was prompt and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. We visited slightly past lunch and it was still quite busy with more customers streaming in as we had our delicious meal. Worth a visit. They have free parking behind their restaurant. Make sure to set the GPS with their phone number as it is VERY easy to miss and drive past.

It is a small family owned cafe on kurima island.
The design is great till in the details and the music is soft and atmospheric with 60's guitar sounds. Makes you feel at home.
You really have to see the open sky toilet with the palm growing through the roof opening to understand this place is special.
I tried a few things and everything was really really good. They have a small menu with coffee and smithies and small pizza's and sandwiches.
I recommend the dragon fruit and banana smoothie. The garlic pizza focaccia style was very sophisticated as well

We came here after 4 days eating in the Shigira resort. Super positive surprise: great value for price, excellent hot soba and great sashimi, better than the one at the resort sushi restaurant. Friendly and lively atmosphere, and we spent only 3000 yen in 2 people. Highly recommended!

I was excited to try Doug's Burger. The menu (detail) is in Japanese but the items are pictured and the titles are in English. I got the single cheeseburger and it's a good sized burger. It's possible that the burger toppings were listed on the menu, unfortunately, the person that took our order didn't speak English and I don't speak Japanese....so when my burger arrived and I took my first bite, I realized there was something spicy on it (maybe Wasabi) that I didn't really like. Oh well....I ate it anyway. The burger itself was juicy and delicious. I got the onion rings and they are huge. I got 3 with my order...which tells you how big they were. I actually wasn't a fan of the rings...they had a bit of a fishy taste. Not sure if that is because they use the same oil for frying the rings and frying fish...or if the oil was just bad.
I believe our bill was around 40,000 yen (give or take a few thousand)...which is about $40 USD...which is quite expensive in my opinion.

Great value food, lots of choice, with an English menu for those of us who can't read kanji. Much much cheaper than the restaurants in the Shigira resort, and good size portions. The owners are really friendly too. Highly recommended!

To keep things simple we ordered 1 set meal and a vegetable soba (with fish broth). Both of them were amazing and needless to state staff was very courteous. Even with very basic japanese (and google translate) we managed to order the food. To get in, there was a waiting list. I will recommend to go for dinner, as during lunch line is simply too long. Miyako-soba here is really good and a must try over here.

We spent a very fun evening at that bar-restaurant and enjoyed a show with traditional Miyakojima songs in a very relaxed atmosphere.
The food was good and fresh .
If you have only one evening in Miyakojima this is the place to spend it.
The show starts at 9pm but it is better to arrive by 8pm since it gets crowded after.
