During a day-long visit to Guanajuato from San Miguel de Allende, we searched TA for restaurants. Casa Valadez came up near the top so we stopped in for lunch. Expertly managed, it has excellent food. The Daily Menu at MXP169 is great value.

As family we like to visit the recommended restaurants as we travel for holidays. Not always an easy path, having three kids.
We selected this restaurant because of its, relatively, high score on trip advisor and foursquare.
Following the recommended dishes mentioned in the reviews, from the aforementioned sites, my wife ordered fettuccini with duck and I ordered pizza with duck.
Big surprise! Instead of duck it was chicken. We were sure, we like duck!, and know for sure how it looks and tastes.
We asked the waiter to check with the chef, and after waiting for more than 15 minutes, we called the waiter over because he had been avoiding our table.
The waiter told us that it was duck, and smoked duck at that! Are you kidding me? Smoked??? It was plain, white chicken. Tasty, but chicken nonetheless.
Neither the chef nor the owner showed up, and the waiter didn’t know what else to do.
We payed and left, feeling disappointed. The restaurant has a high score on trip advisor and foursquare, but they couldn’t get our dishes right; worse of all, nobody cared about us.
Now we have a good family-holiday story, so at least something positive came out of this visit.

Small, cozy restaurant. Best tables are near the view windows. Food presentation good and the dinners (chicken breast and chili poblano) were tasty, but arrived cold. Waiter not attentive to this problem and there was only one other table of two in the restaurant. Waiter failed to refill water glasses, and these little services do matter. Probably would not go back.

Delica Mitsu is Guanajuato based Japanese style Deli Restaurant. We offer best lunch option with variety of healthy salad, Deli, Sushi roll etc.. Delica Mitsu has two location in the city of Guanajuato Mexico. one is near Plaza San Fernando : Callejon de cantaritos #37, zona centro. and the other one is Campanero #5 zona Centro. both location open 12pm to 6 pm
What is called sushi here is just rolls and there is no fish in it. Still, the rolls, especially when dunk in shoyu sauce, have the taste of the real thing! Most of the food is not real japanese but its interpretation utilizing the locally available material with a Japanese touch. Overall it is creative and gives the customer a different taste than the Mexican dishes you can find everywhere in GTO. Small restaurant, several tables outside. No Japanese beer.

Guanajuato is not exactly the capitol of courtesy, but the staff here are very consistently courteous. Polite service goes a long way. Everything on the menu is delicious and the coffee with free refills is the best value for coffee that I have found in Guanajuato. Not to be missed!

What a great place to have a relaxing lunch in this gem of a town away from the bustle of SMA. The courtyard setting is fantastic, as is the rest of the place. The food and service were very good. Excellent extremely large Arranchera for 159 Pesos!Stuffed chicken breast with goat cheese and enchiladas with mole both very good. Food presented nicely. Nothing pretentious here.

We stopped for a simple lunch. We were served a gourmet meal. Likely the best beef carpaccio I've ever had. Garnished with olive oil capers and shaved parmesan cheese. (Typical so far), then they add artichoke hearts, slivers of tomato, smoked onion straws and large sliced button mushrooms. Oh My. The tomato cream soup has a beautiful presentation with a bowl first presented with pine nuts, ham, tomatoes, cheese, to which the soup is added table side. Everything we tried, we loved.

What's not to like about a small hip restaurant that packs them in and has two tables outside on the bridge! We were lucky enough to get one of those tables. The Cafe had a nice menu and a good beverage selection of artesanal beers from Mexico. We had the Enchiladas and Quesadillas, and both were great. Good service and a beautiful location. Well worth the rating others have given it too.

Every where we went, we ordered coffees but they were really weak, watery and lacking true flavor. This cafe is right next to El Meson de Las Poetas Hotel and once we tried it we made this our spot.
Beans are freshly roasted daily, you can watch the magic. The baristas are friendly and skilled in making anything: Lattes, Americanos, Espressos, Cortados, etc. The coffee is flavorful and rich. There is not a long wait and there are only a few chairs. This is the place to get your coffee and go about your business.
We even took our lattes to our breakfast spot. No one complained about us bringing our own coffee.
I dare you to try this place and be disappointed.

My partner and I chose Mestizo due to its fantastic reviews on TA and Yelp. We arrived and the restaurant was almost empty. We asked to sit by the window (there were several tables available) and were told they were reserved (they remained empty the 30 minutes we were there). I ordered a limonada and my partner ordered a margarita de tamarindo. I was served naranjada and he was served jugo de tamarind. We let that go and laughed it off and chalked it up to our poor Spanish accents. We then ordered as an appetizer taquitos con pato con adobo y queso fresco (we read that verbatim from the menu) and were served tacos de carnitas. They were delicious, but again, not what we ordered. By this point, we were debating whether they were testing us or deliberately not giving us what we ordered. When our entrees arrived, I received what I ordered- pollo con mole- which was again, delicious, but my partner received medium rare pork (he ordered steak (res) medium rare). By this point, we felt really uncomfortable and not welcomed, so we immediately asked for la cuenta. The server seemed surprised, and we pointed out that the dish we were served looked and tasted like pork rather than beef. She insisted it was beef, but there was no way this light grayish/light pink meat was beef. We felt insulted, unwelcome, paid our check, and promptly left.
