The Brinkley Resort is close to the Methven village and handy to Mt Hutt. Each block has access to a shared laundry and drying room. Studio room was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed. Room is a little small when bringing two persons worth of ski gear in from your car. Very friendly and accommodating staff. On site spa pools and a tennis court for those keen. Didn't try the bar and restuarant but it looked very good. Menu has a good range to cover your tastes.

All day freshly prepared Meals. Morning and Afternoon tea. Gluten free options. A wide variety of choice! Black-board Specials.
Stopped in here a couple of weeks ago, purely on a whim for a coffee. The carrot cake looked yum, and was a good compliment for the coffee.
The staff were all smiles, and the atmosphere pleasant.
Worth stopping, for a break if your in the area,

A nice casual place to eat in Methven. The restaurant is BYO but also has a limited selection of alcohol including the hard to find Asahi Black. We had tuna sashimi, beef tataki, Japanese fried chicken, chicken fried rice , all very good. Went back again during our short stay in Methven. I would recommend to book during the winter ski season.

This has to be one of the loveliest Cafe's I ve ever been in. The interior is like walking into another era or should I say eras. Personally, it took me back to when I used to visit my nana's as a child, full of lovely treasures except you could buy them. Then you have the added bonus of the food. The food was delicious. I had the roast pork panini, my friends had the chicken/spinach/mozzarella panini & the 'world famous' bacon & egg toasties (all $10 each). All of them were served with a side of sauces & jam packed with fillings. All delicious. Except for one of us, we all had iced chocolate's. My friend's teenage sons had two, they were so good. The prices were on a parr with ChCh so good value for money. If you stop in Methven, you must go there.

The restaurant was busier than they expected, having only one chef on and one server. The buffet customers seemed to take precedence so our a la carte service was slow. Unfortunately the quality of the food didn't make up for it. It was quite average.

We missed the curry night (alas!), but had a very tasty lunch here. The vegetarian enchilada had great ingredients (especially the squash) and the eggs with Hollandaise sauce, spinach, and salmon were terrific! The decor is very pleasing and everything seemed well chosen to please the eyes of the diners.

The menu for fish & chips, other fried foods, burgers, and pizzas (in three sizes) is excellent. I tried the Chicken, Cranberry & Brie pizza which was very tasty, although I would have liked a few more toppings. Prices were average.

After a couple of rough days on the West Coast of New Zealand in a recent tropical storm, we were stranded. We were redirected to drive to Methven. After the long drive to a place we didn’t plan to be, we thought The Dubliner looked like a great place to have dinner. After we walked in to see a busy pub, no one approached us. Finally, the bartender, from way across the room, shouted at us... “it’s going to be a long wait”. I took it as meaning, please go elsewhere. I understand places are busy and booked, but if someone had greeted us and said, “sorry we are busy for at least an hour, but if you want to wait that would be fine”, at least we wouldn’t have felt so unwelcome. Sorry The Dubliner, service counts. I’ll probably never be this way again, but if I were, I certainly wouldn’t dine here.

We dined here as part of a group meal. We had a set menu which consisted of chicken, steak, veges and potatoes which was fine apart from we found it odd to not have the choice of either steak or chicken - the meal came...MoreThanks for your review, there was several options sent to your group for a "set menu" this option was the one selected by the organizer, we are pleased you enjoyed it though. thanks
