Port Vathi is a small picturesque harbour only a few kilometres from Methana. O Meletis, owned and run by Athina Kollia, is well-worth a visit. Order your meal to share the Greek way - meze - and dip into a selection of tasty home-cooked dishes, including fresh fish caught from the family's caique and vegetables and herbs from Athina's own garden. She cooks the best octopus/meat balls/mussels in the Aegean and her puddings are to die for! Her in-laws live above the restaurant and will phone to get her to come and cook for you if you arrive when the holiday season is over and everything seems closed. Athina can also organise trips to the nearby volcano - 12 Euros pp, incl a glass of wine at a nearby winery, and finishing with an ouzo and meze in her taverna - an experience not to be missed.

It is located in the gulf of Epidaurus, in Vathy Port at Methana. It is small, but it lays under the shade of a big volcano. It is very scenic, and some times cosmopolitan. It is an attraction for those who seek a peaceful and a quite place. It is the salt of the sea, which makes the taste of our dishes, even more tasteful. It is the sunset that you taste in your cup of coffee. It is the sky at night, that you seek a good glass of wine. It is our lights in the centre of the port that shows you the way to get to know us. Jimmy's Fish Tavern
We sailed into Vathy Methanon and this place was recommended by a local, as the owner is a diver who spearhunts the fish himself. We chose a fantastic fish (rofos) for bbq but we also enjoyed the appetizers like the mussel croquettes and marinated gavros. An original and quaint place in a tiny quiet port, filled to the brim with sailboats.

This is a little gem. We were staying in the yacht right in front of this restaurant, and the lady was so wonderful&welcoming we decided to eat there at night. The menu is presented in quite a basic fashion, but the food is amazing, some of the best I've had in Greece. Definitely recommend. And as previous reviewers have said…free showersfor those on the boats.

While in Methana I visited this Greek tavern for late lunch and it was a worth stop. The food was delicious- just as one would like it to be. They serve homemade tsipouro (strong alcohol) and each of us got a shot for free after eating and when asked for the bill.
Great place with a nice Greek atmosphere. Seemed like a place where locals like to sit and hang out.

The fishtavern > is located at the small port of Vathi in Methana. Fresh fish, mezedes for ouzo or tsipouro, grilled stuff, fresh salads, drinks and coffees are served in our tavern. In our place you can also rent rooms with marvelous view at the port. The combination of this beautiful marine with the unique tastes offers a great pleasure. We are waiting for you. (FREE: WiFi , SHOWER)
The lady host was terrific. We wanted a typical Greek meal and she gave us a mixture of starters and free wine. The bread was delicious (you do have to pay for it) and the mains were good, although the mousaka was a bit cold. Go for the steak and chips, fantastic value.
The lady served us a free pudding, Greek donut / sweet dumplings in chocolate sauce.
Beer was lovely and cold, service at the right pace. An enjoyable evening.

I am going to miss this food! It was the best place we ate in Greece and one of my all around favorite meals. Not to mention the service is also wonderful. We chose the baked eggplant, stuffed zucchini, baked fish and potatoes and had left overs! It was all so good and rich and filling. The wine=delicious and cheap and so is the homemade lemonade. Hope you don't miss it when you are there! It is right downtown Galatas with a view of Poros.

A great place, we needed to wait to get served but it was well worth the wait. The owner made space for us despite a full restaurant and then helped us with recommendations for the rest of our trip sailing. A pizza place with many talents and a great soundtrack!

Authentic greek cuisine with a twist. In a relaxing rustic environment you can enjoy authentic greek dishes that are just a little bit different then you would expect. Look at the blog for the specials of your chef. Breakfast is unparalleled on the island, organic, local and delicious. The reputation of its cheesecake has reached the capital!
We have visited Poros many times, but, this time we were lucky to have met a lovely couple that lives in Poros and they arranged for us to go and have dinner with them at Odyssey.... a Bistro and a beautiful decorated hotel apartment that we did not know about as it is situated off the main road, at Askeli.
I cannot tell you how happily surprised we were with everything.
The ambience was lovely...
The wine, fantastic.....
The food DELICIOUS and so out of the ordinary....and
Katerina, the owner and her Dutch husband and daughter, delightful.
Well, I should have put Katerina on the top of the list as she is the heart and soul of the place!!!! She is an AMAZING chef and all the dishes are cooked with home grown ingredients. She gives cooking classes to groups and all seemed to be very happy on the day we were there.
And, I forgot the desserts....there was a cheesecake that was out of this world!
We could not see the apartments because they were all occupied, but, judging from the decor, the ambience and the owners, I am sure this is a wonderful place to stay.
We are very grateful to our friends for bringing us to Odyssey Suites and Bistro and a big thank you to Katerina for a delicious and really pleasant evening!

If you are looking for the best coffee on Poros, then you have to cross over to Galatas and try La Frianderie. La Frianderie is a family business owned, managed and operated by Tasos Kakouris and his two sons, Nikos (expert barista) and Yannis (chef trained at Cordon Bleu, Paris).
Always love the friendly service and great coffee overlooking the Saronic Gulf. This little outdoor cafe at the port is a nice place to sip your cappuccino and watch the boats travel back and forth to the island of Poros. They also have delicious ice...MoreThank you so much for your kind words! Hope to see you back in summer ;-)

Near Methana in Agios Nikolas you can find this amazing very small place. Food was wonderful and amazing quality, rustic Mediterranean cooking , nothing too fancy. Quality was amazing.
Nice history too with the owner's wife being from Spain. He married her while as a sailor they were stuck in a Spanish fishing village because of some kind of strike going on for 18 months!
We'll go back next year!
