Welcome to Webb's Captains Table! Webb's is a third generation family business started in 1942 by Paul and Nadine Webb and carried on today by second generation Jim and Sally Webb, and third generation Ben Webb. Our main dining rooms provide a comfortable atmosphere appointed with rich wood paneling and solid oak booths. Both the main dining room and the Lookout room offer beautiful views of Lake Chautauqua. The main dining room boasts a cozy wood-burning fireplace - the only one in the area. Our menu features fresh seafood, steak, chicken, veal and vegetarian selections. Our weekly menu insert features our chef's selection of appetizer, salad and entree, as well as a wine selection accompanied with daily specials. The Deck at Webb's is a second story open air, 60-seat deck with a gorgeous view of Chautauqua Lake. Join us for lunch or dinner and relax with a cool drink from the Deck's full service bar. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
We hadn't been to Webb's in awhile and decided to go for Sunday dinner. We had a special dining card that we planned to use. It turned out that there had been some minor changes in what we could order (no specials) but that wasn't a problem with their extensive menu. My wife and I both ordered chicken entrees that were imaginative and flavorful. I liked that they asked if we wanted rolls since so often they go uneaten and become needless food waste. We were seated promptly by a male server who provided menus and filled our water glasses. When our female server arrived she was less than friendly as she explained the new rules on specials. Then she disappeared. While we waited for her return, the male server (who was attending other tables) refilled our water glasses. Our server returned and took our orders. The male server refilled our glasses again. Finally we received our meal and did see our server more frequently. Once we finished, it was again the male server who removed our dishes. We waited patiently for our again absent server to get our bill. Finally the male server asked what he could do and we gave him our credit card to give to our server (we hadn't received a bill yet). When we got our bill it was highlighted that a 20% tip had been included. Our server DID NOT deserve such a tip. Though I usually tip 20%, I don't for service at this level. Our meal/visit would have been much better if we would have had that male server instead of ours.

So, people aren't kidding when they tell you that Boxcar Barney's has huge cones. Their ice cream is good and, ordinarily, you might be tempted to say it is overpriced until you see the portions. A baby cone here is equivalent to a small elsewhere.
As far as the food, don't bother. It's nice that they offer more than ice cream, but their fries are sub-par, the hot dogs didn't seemed grilled in any way (flat top or other), and the corn dog nuggets were a great idea but greasy and too sweet. Come for the ice cream for sure!

Black Raspberry Rhubarb Pie! What an unbelievable combination! And to top it off we enjoyed an Apple pie and Key Lime pie! Connie and Jack are pie wizards. No visit to Chautauqua County is complete without a visit!

Chef Burke was very easy to work with and accommodating with our two wedding meals for 30 - 40 guests. The rehearsal dinner included salmon and chicken entrees, salad, potatoes with carrot cake and gluten free mousse. The breakfast featured breakfast bars of omelettes, oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, meats and French toast. We asked the "singing chef" to sing at both meals, and he was happy to serve....just like icing on the cake! La Familia has wonderful staff and a warm atmosphere. Looking forward to visiting them again this winter as they extend their hours.

Wed-Sun 7-2. Only been for breakfast but WOW! Can eat inside or out. Larger crowd on weekends. Very friendly staff. Cash only. Chocolate chip pancakes were fabulous--had them with eggs and bacon. Only could finish one pancake they were so big--so I had the other one the next day. Omlettes were great too and they have specials.

American Cuisine - proud winner of the Observer Readers Poll as Best Restaurant 2014 and 2015.
The Parkview is definitely a favorite of mine in Chautauqua County. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is outstanding, and the chef/owner goes above and beyond for every guest. I had brunch here about six weeks ago, and everything was delicious. While eating, I saw the owner bring out a huge coconut cake for a large table that was celebrating an occasion. Shortly thereafter, he brought a bowl of water out for a couple who's dog was with them outside (no pets allowed inside of course). If you're in the area, don't miss this place!

This small establishment is right near our vacation home, but even if it were farther away, it would still be a frequent favorite on our list. Great variety of food and drinks, with a choice of indoor and outdoor dining both winter and summer. the heated outdoor bar is popular with winter sports enthusiasts, and it's delightful in the summer as well. Try the fried fish or Cajun chicken alfredo! fun atmosphere and great wait staff and owners!

I ordered pasta carbonara, which all Italian restaurants don't do very well. I am of Italian heritage, Love to cook, have worked part time for almost nine years for Williams-Sonoma. The Carbonara that I was served was wonderful, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Italian food

Food for Thought is a gourmet deli right in the heart of Chautauqua Institution. Delicious sandwiches, breads of all kinds and tasty desserts highlight a store which also includes gourmet jams, condiments, chips and an assortment of kitchen gadgetry. Always an interesting visit, be prepared for a line - but it is worth the wait.
