We had driven by this place twice while sightseeing on the road to/from Lucca and thought it looked inviting. We were not disappointed when we did stop in for dinner. They are known for their meats and mushroom dishes as traditional Tuscan food, pastas, etc. The waiter didn't speak English and our Italian is lacking, but he (and all the staff) were friendly and welcoming with no eye rolls or impatience for tourists. The menus were multi lingual so you can point to order. The restaurant has a large open area, veranda with garden views and also an outdoor Seating area for nicer weather. We seemed to be the only non locals there in the October off season and they had a full house on a Tuesday night. Prices were reasonable and many people were casually dressed for Italians.

The food is delicious and they offer more exotic courses, too. The tasting menu is great value for money (starting from 30€) and a great way to experience 4 courses. The wine list is long and exquisite and they have an Enoteca, so it's possible...Moreil ristorante dopo un anno di pausa e riaperto...

Went here with my wife and two friends, choice and quality of food was excellent and the staff very attentive.
Primarily a seafood restaurant with a very good choice of white wines but limited red which is understandable.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful when it came to explaining the menu to non Italian speakers.
Definitely recommend.

Accepting that you won't find anything fancy here, you'll be pleased by all the rest.
Located between Viareggio Beaches and Lucca (15 minutes from each), Da Ferro is a fantastic restaurant well recognized by locals.
Family service cooking home made tasty food, atmosphere is greatly simple out there.
As per what other locals' tables ordered, speciality seems to be about barbecued pork ribs which were indeed soooo yummy when trying it, I confirm !
Great place, not to be missed if around.

There were 5 of us at dinner and some of the dishes were ok--but my mixed grill was so dry it was inedible, they had run out of tortellini, the "fantasia" starter was really terrible--fried bread, fried pie type things, pretty inedible. My daughter said her fish was good and another in our group said his calzone was good, so you have to choose carefully. The great thing is that it is very very cheap--about 100 Euros for 5 of us with 2 bottles of wine and free Prosecco.

We've been there in 2 adults + 2 teenagers, we were in cool mode and we wanted this to stay like that. We did not have at all the choice with the table ... we were parked inside and we did not say anything because wanted to have a nice dinner. We were served well, we took the menu+2 bottles of wine + desserts. Jazzy music for ambiance, this was nice but nothing less nothing more. Even when we had to pay, the boss just looked at the credit card, nothing more nothing less : stranger give me your money and run... this is what I felt, this was below our expectations ... I'm around for three weeks in a nice villa, but for sure I will go for other restaurants !

Having attended the opera at Torre del Lago we have always wished to dine at the Chalet del Lago restaurant because of its idyllic setting on the lake and it's early twenties decor. This year we managed to do so on the 2nd of August. We were unable to make a booking by email until I attempted to do in Italian. My shortcoming. But inspite of having received a confirmation when we arrived they couldn't acknowledge the booking. However we were given a table. Apparently the restaurant had decided not to offer their normal menu and had replaced it with a very limited pre theatre menu. We noticed that many of the other (apparently regular) customers were unhappy with this change. The food itself was poorly cooked and I could see other patrons swooping plates to see if that would help. The girl serving us was very attentive and was trying to carry the shortcomings on behalf of the restaurant.
Next time we will cross the road to the ristorante Cecco where we ate a very good lunch.

Old and classic family restaurant, first opened in the early 1900's, managed by the same family ever since. Local and sea-food specialties with a touch of innovation. Charming and soft elegant interior.
We received a warm welcome with a glass of spumante and some fried fish as an appetizer after which they made some good recommendations for the different courses. We took all something different and all dishes were great! the fritto misto is wonderful. The only...MoreSalve TimEng and many tnx for yr visit and yr comment. i'm glad you enjoyed a good meal and a nice evening in our restaurant. tnx again for the visit and enjoy the rest of yr stay in Italy. ciao stefy

Typical Tuscan trattoria with a porch outside where guests can enjoy their dinner during the summertime. A nice playground is waiting for your kids!! Tuscan cooking of meat and fish with the rediscovery of ancient Tuscan recipes.
This is my third time in Toscana, I've tried so many restaurants! But "Giusto di Sale" made me come back many times - the home atmosphere, unbelievable cooking, everything is very fast and delicious; very cozy and stylish. Gianluca - the owner is a very nice and polite, he suggested so many tasty and real traditional things! He talks a very good English! My family and i fell in love with this beautiful place!
Next time we are here, "Giusto di Sale" will be the first time I visit!!! Thank you for making to feel Toscana like our home!
