I chose this restaurant because I loved the name....it was like gum on the sole of your shoe. You couldn’t shake the memory and visual it created in my mind. As I stepped inside, I was greeted by a very perky hostess whose charm was the underlying thread of all of FWD( yes there was an anacronym) staff. I tried the Peruvian scallops ( delicious, slightly sweet and slightly tart); the clam chowder( very tasty) and finished with a bit of heaven disguised a Key lime pie...... as a huge fan of Key Lime Pie who has tried it everywhere I could find it all over the world, I can honestly say this was one of the best key lime pie that I have ever tasted!

This restaurant is perfect for any special occasions or just meeting with friends. The food is excellent and cooked the way you would request, the service was outstanding. It is situated is a commercial square near the Shade Hotel. It has outdoor and indoor seating, with heat lamps outdoors if needed. The ambiance is causal and friendly but definitely upscale. The seared seabass on greens is always a favorite as is the shrimp enchiladas. The beet salad was also great. They have a very good selection of wines with premium wines by the glass (eg Silver Oak). It can get a little pricey depending on your selections, but overall an excellent venue. There's parking both around the square of public parking structures across the street.

We went there on an off night, and were seated quickly. The service was good, and the management was also involved. The food was relatively unique in how it was prepared, which led to good taste options on one item, but not another. The Salmon Sandwich was great. However, the jumbalya was highly recommended, but it was more like the seafood was a pesto style and it just happened to be on rice; not exactly what you think of when you think jumbalya. (Yes I know I am not spelling it correctly, but I do know what it to expect. ;) ) It was however well prepared, and had salmon, which is also not typical for that dish.
I also had the brussels sprouts side dish, which was more like a cole slaw made out of brussels sprouts, and while I didn't like it, it was different.

A local pub that serves artisan foods, craft beers and small production wines.
You must try the tuna poke balls and simmzy’s breakfast stout! Staff was very friendly. Great atmosphere. We went based on a recommendation from a local, I’m glad we tried it!

My sister the foodie recommended we go to this restaurant for dinner before we took the red eye home from LAX. It has a youngish, hip clientele. The bacon cheddar biscuits were superb. The scallops with creamed corn was delicious. Portions are on the smallish side. The lighting was kept a bit too low for my taste. Our waitress completely disappeared for 15 minutes before finally showing up to give us the check, which was anxiety provoking because we had to catch our flights. Check before you order refills of tea -- they were not free during our visit which caused a bit of sticker shock.

Down at the beach, overlooking the Pacific Ocean,The Strand House rises elegantly and iconically above the breakers. Like in an oceanfront home, friends become family and strangers become friends.
We had out-of-town company staying with us over the holidays and chose the Strand House for its location and spectacular view. The view didn’t disappoint but the food and the service were also excellent. We ordered a variety of brunch dishes, all of which were perfectly prepared and brought out together. Everything was delicious. Great coffee too. As a local, I’d been to the Strand House several times before, but never for brunch. It is now at the top of my list.

We stopped her before our flight back to Michigan. It was a sunny Sunday morning, we got an outside table without any wait... we arrived around 815. I had the French toast and bacon. Very good. The view to the pacific was a pleasant reminder of a great vacation. Nice location and solidly good food. You won’t go wrong.

Got brought here by some local friends after landing at LAX from Australia only an hour before. Had a nice, relaxed vibe. Football (NFL) on TV, locals at the bar drinking, tables full of diners. Very attentive and friendly service from all the staff we had. Special mention to the blackened fish tacos, they were delicious & exactly what I needed with a Big Wave Golden Ale to wash it down after a long flight!

The waitresses are so pleasant and willing to accommodate in any way. We are still loving the calamari and dip. It's about the best we've tried in the South Bay. The hamburgers are excellent...juicy and favorable. We also like their fish tacos. I am not much of a beer drinker so I order their Hard Cider. My husband enjoys their IPAs. When we have beautiful sunsets we slow down eating and enjoy the beauty. After enjoying our meal we walk through the town of Manhattan Beach and just enjoy the little shops. It's truly an enjoyable town.

Can’t beat it for a late nite or early morning meal. Great breakfast! Ten times better than Dennys. Lots of tables and counter space so wait time is minimal.
