Six thousand years ago, human footprints were left in the volcanic mud along the shores of Lake Managua. Preserved over centuries, these footprints can be seen at The Museum of Acahualinca in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. In addition to the footprints and impressive collections of pre-Colombian artifacts in the city's museums, Managua has much more to offer. The Tiscapa Lagoon Natural Reserve is a watery retreat within the city, with bars, shops, ziplines, and a canopy ride with views of downtown.

Went here with 10 friends for lunch. The place was immaculate and the service premium. We ordered the steaks which comes with French fries and rice. First they bring out traditional beans with plantain. That was excellent and then a salad with tomato, lettuce, onions and beets. Everything was top notch. The fruit juice, lemonades and teas were great also. I hope to come back. The royal treatment here.

Our specialty is the Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. We developed a fusion of traditional italian recipes with molecular cuisine, in order to offer the best gastronomic experience in Managua, in a very quiet and cozy atmosphere. Enhanche the cuisine at the level of art. Excellency is always present in our constant seek of perfection, in the quality of our ingredients, in the expertise of our techniques.
Ok, I’ll need to elaborate a response since this is a kind of place I have never visited before. Is not the ambiance, nor the food presentation or service, which honestly speaking I have had equal or better many times before.
I even tried once Bluehill in NYC to go after one of the key elements of this place that I actually did not know before my visit.
The place offers more than 600 meal options, hence you can visit it daily for a year and never repeat a dish. That doesn’t sound right because what kind of pantry of fresh food you need to maintain in order to fulfill that giant offer?
Ok. So, as my evening at this place went by, all the answers started to come.
First, the place has its own orchard next door, full organic, sun ripened fruit and vegetables just ready to be harvested and used as super fresh ingredients for that enormous variety of dishes.
Second, food is seasoned with vegetable preparations of many different combinations, all natural: Beets, potatoes, Chickpeas, Eggplant, Carrots, Onions, Tomato, parsley, basil, olives, and many others which combined would yield other flavors and textures. All natural, Only salt and maybe some olive oil, veggies are processed even raw when possible.
This is not only about flavor but color, deep reds, bright greens, yellows even black. So, you will have a bread basket filled with color.
There is no poultry of beef in the menu, only seafood and fish. All fresh again.
I won’t be redundant about flavor, food is super rich. The impressive part is how light and easy to digest it results! We had a hearty dinner past 10:30pm and it felt like we did not eat anything. Next morning I felt really, really good!
I had heard about how ingredients make a difference, but it was genuinely the first time that in a single meal I felt that effect.
Oh I had the best dessert I’ve had in my life! Made of tomato, basil, olive oil and ice cream.
If you visit Nicaragua you need to visit Gastronomia El Buzo.

Our dishes are created to be deliciously healthy, are made with respect for local growers, food ecology, and to showcase local ingredients. We offer vegan, vegetarian and meat, fish, chicken options. Our staff are well-paid and respected for their professionalism. Mon-Saturday 11 am - 11 pm. Sunday 11am - 9 pm. We have been in business in Managua since 2003. Proceeds from the restaurant are used to help the Ola Verde Foundation (Fundación Ola Verde), a local NGO that designs educational materials about making consumer food habits healthier using natural locally produced ingredients. We have recently remodeled the interior Terrace, now called the Secret Garden, and usually have musicians or performing artists for cultural nights on weekends. Please check facebook for program information. Our organic food store and take-out delicatessen open 8 am - 10 pm each day except Sunday at 11 am - 9pm.
Ola Verde has a wonderful and varied menu to please any kind of palate. The dishes are nicely presented and so fresh. Ola Verde has a lovely patio with amazing art by a Nicaraguan painter, friendly staff and great mojitos!

Had a business meeting here in mid-October. We sat in the air-conditioned section. The steaks were superb and all the side dishes were also very well made. Wait staff was attentive and quick. Overall an outstanding meal.

Nicaraguan traditional food
A Nicaraguan friend recommended this restaurant for those of us seeking a nice setting to experience good quality native foods. It is slightly off the beaten path and not easy to find, but well worth the several wrong turns we took to get there. It sits like a haven of green in a very industrial neighborhood, but one quickly forgets what sits outside upon entering the sheltered deck hung with fragrant flowering plants and greenery. The place was very busy on a weekday evening which is always a good sign. And seemed to appeal to locals as much as tourists. The menu was varied, the food well-prepared and presented and the service was much better than I had come to expect during my weeks touring the country. (Perhaps because I suspect that Dona Haydee was sitting at one of the tables watching like a hawk). The prices were slightly high by native standards but I believe well in-line with the value. I left very satisfied and would highly recommend the Cocina de Dona Haydee to anyone who wants to safely sample authentic foods in a delightful setting.

Old school. Elegant. Wonderful food. Great service. An unexpected joy to share a meal of memorable quality with friends/close business associates in a city whose culinary offerings had so far underwhelmed me. Not haute cuisine. Solid, mouth watering tradition. Food, service, atmosphere all combined for a stellar experience. A definite repeat next visit!

Factory Steak and Lobster offers imported and local prime steak cuts, lobster and seafood specialties. Along the main room there are 2 private rooms for special occasions or make a selection from our wide wine menu and choose to seat at our open deck area.
This place has very good food although it's been the same menu since forever, they have removed some good dishes and replaced with others not so good but overall it is good.
Just when you order your meat ask for a level above on how you like it cooked because they always under cook it, and the room temperature is always a bit too cold.
