We were staying nearby at the military cottages and came here for dinner one night.
Situated in a smaller cottage that had a certain charm. Free parking. We were greeted when we walked in and told to sit anywhere we liked. BYOB...with NO cover or corkage fee. Nice size menu that had many unfamiliar choices...a great discovery!
All the prices were very reasonable and all the food was tasty and nice and hot when it came to our table. Appetizers for $5.00! An appetizer and 2 entrees and our bill was less than $30.00. How great is that. Service with a genuine smile too.
A great find in Waianae...I recommend giving it a try. It's sure to please. 5 STARS.

Hannara is located in a little strip mall like many things in Hawaii but there is plenty of parking. The menu has all 3 meals and I think you can get breakfast all day. Wife ordered the "best burger" on Oahu plus for "dessert" got the macadamia nut pancakes. I got the fried liver and onions with bacon.
The burger was a surprise to my wife who did not expect fillers and soon pushed it aside to enjoy the pancakes which were very good.
It is local Hawaiian, not some fancy thing - but a solid place to eat.

Popped in after a hike. Just a little tiny place in a strip center, little strip of wood by the window with four metal stools. Order at the counter, served in styrofoam and boy was I glad I stopped. Salmon with crab, excellent suggestion by the young lady at the counter. Filling and well presented (for being in styrofoam). Might have to come back!

This is an all in one grocery store..I guess thats why its called "SUPERETTE"!Its a longtime family owned grocery store. It has its own fullsize deli that serves anything from breakfast to dinner and everything in between. They serve fresh hot entrees all day long..with reg. Favorites as well! They also have a poke side...and if your in need of some meds the have an instore pharmacy that is usually stocked up on all your needs..

This place is a great side of the road or pit stop place to eat. Its kind of pricey but very good. The mahimahi plate is my favorite. My husband's fav is Hamburger steak and the kids just like the regular breakfast eggs, rice & meat. Its a rather small area to sit but there are a few tables.Be sure to go early because they do serve the tourist boata at around 10:00 so it gets crowded in there.

While staying in a condo in the Makaha area, we decided to try this store for our weekly shop after trying their nearby competitor. They have a decent variety of most items needed although their fresh produce items are extremely limited. Staff are very friendly.
One note of caution: we went on a Monday morning and a number of shelves were empty and they were just in the process of restocking. It probably would be better to go in the afternoon or the following day when the items should all be out.
This store along with the other local grocery store are good options if you are staying in the area rather than fighting the sometimes horrendous traffic to shop further afield.

West side of the Island has very few choices to eat Dinner near Makaha, nothing in the fine dining experience...
We settled for this place and the old reviews were not good but those are old and we had a very good experience...Seated quickly and the waiter was OK to start and then warmed up to us as the ordering took place...Meal plus 1 mixed drink each and both had dessert $59...Drinks a bit high but good....the food was good and the desserts were very good...Garlic Shrimp for the Ms. and Enchiladas for myself, a Mai Tai and a Margarita(house) Flan and Bread pudding(very good)
overall it was a good visit and I would return

We stopped at Sun Sushi on the way to Kaena beach. Freshly made sushi, but Tuna was obviously frozen and one could feel the greasiness. California rolls were great. Super reasonable prices. 3,5 out of 5, only because in Japan we had amazing sushi and sashimi, so it was hard to beat that.
