The Bull Run in Shirley, MA is a full service, farm-to-table restaurant and concert venue housed in an historic Tavern & open Wed-Sun for lunch & dinner. Our menus change seasonally and we have a full bar including local brews on tap. We have two concert rooms, one seating 300 & another seating 65 and we feature national & regional acts across every genre of music as well as stand up comedy. Come for appetizers, a full dinner, brunch, lunch, pizza or dessert. We make everything from scratch, buy from the local family farms of Central New England & support the local community. Don't miss the legendary Egopantis who sees all from his perch above our back-to-back fireplaces!
We had a great wedding at the bull run. It was one of the best days of our lives! We only have a couple things we truly wished would have been addressed so we could have given this venue a better rating. The staff at Bull Run was unprofessional on the day of our wedding, and we felt like we had been financially taken advantage of. We had tried to pay our final dues the night before (so we wouldn't have to worry on our day) but the cashier at the front couldn't figure out what we owed, so we left and had to do it on our day. We specifically told Amanda we didn't want liquor at our open bar, in the contract, in person, MULTIPLE times. Of course, after our ceremony we come inside and discover everyone has been drinking liquor at the open bar for the past hour and a half. $600 worth of our tab. We were extremely distressed and Amanda didn't apologize or even act surprised. Furthermore her staff gave us attitude when we informed them of their mistake. We were not reimbursed for this and it ate up our bar tab. We also told amanda in writing AND in person that we were doing a $1000 open bar. We told her to let us know when it reached that amount and we would decide then if we would increase the amount. She never approached us. At the end of the night we had a bar tab of $2000. We were angry and upset but we paid our bill because who wants to argue a tab at the end of their wedding night? Again- we had an extraordinary wedding with our family and friends, largely in part to the beautiful setting and delicious food. It was unfortunate that were taken advantage of by having our bar tab ran up twice as much, and the professionalism of the staff and management of the Bull Run were extremely lacking. Because of this, we would not be comfortable recommending this venue to friends or family.

I stop here on our way to Great Wolf Lounge and let the kids pick some goodies. They loved it so much we also stop on our way back home.

Went there with a friend. Nothing fancy but the food was excellent. Honestly can't pronounce either meal, let alone spell them, but we split our dishes and both of them were great. I fi ished with a Vietnamese iced coffee, best iced coffee I've ever had.

What a treat on our way home from Maine to stop in Lunenburg for the wonderful Cherry Hill Ice Cream. We had Cherry Hill cherry, peppermint patty, and butter pecan. All were delicious and very ample servings. Only seating outside and there is a port-a-potty.
We recommend this as a cream place for ice cream.

The vegetables were fresh and crisp, the pad thai had a nice combination of peanuts, shrimp, and chicken. The service was friendly and prompt, and the decorations were fun to look at. I especially enjoyed the sunflowers out front - those will be spectacular in a month.

...the kind in the old fashioned bottles. You will think that you are drinking a thick shake. Incredibly good! Family owned for years. A authentic New England Dairy Farm.

Slattery's was founded as a working man's bar in 1934 and has been located on the east side of the city for over 80 years, just a few blocks from Fitchburg State University and the Wallace Ice Arena. For the last 30 years, chef/owner Dave Celuzza has overseen its transition into the full service hospitality venue and community anchor it is today. We are driven by a passion to provide exceptional food and service using the freshest of ingredients locally sourced whenever possible. You can expect to be treated as a "regular" on your first visit and we look forward to the opportunity to host you.
Having lived in Fitchburg as a young kid and still having family there, I still go to Slattery's a few times a year. I was there last night, a lovely renovation in the dining room having recently been completed.
I've never not had a meal at Slattery's that wasn't terrific. The menu is diverse, I tried the fish tacos last night, and they were excellent. If you just want to get a sandwich or a burger, they got you covered. If you want a nice dinner, you can get that there, too.
Prices are reasonable, you can sit in the dining room (where there's a bar), or go to the back room where it's a little more casual to the bar which is good sized. They also have tables in the back room as well. The back room is a great place to watch a Pats game. Slattery's is a super place to meet friends and family, no matter the occasion.

This was the most worst experience I have ever had for breakfast. We waited for over an hour just to get our breakfast of pancakes and bagel sandwich. The food was just mediocre, uses margarine and artificial syrup. Will not be going back.

Went to lunch here with my sister--we both come from different areas of the state to meet in the middle for lunch every few weeks. Decided to try this restaurant upon seeing it previously, traveling to Fitchburg for a lunch . Glad we did--nice, brightly decorated, clean restaurant with a friendly staff. We had fish tacos and burritos, after the best chips and salsa. The food was great. Can't wait to return before the snow flies!
