Lucca's array of wonderfully intact historical sites makes it a must-see stop on any Tuscan itinerary. The medieval city walls still stand—you can hike or bike on top of them. Also visit the Duomo di San Martino and the Roman amphitheater.

We have visited Forno Giusti every day for the last 4 weeks and have never been disappointed in our selection. Whether it is the best buccelatto in Lucca for breakfast or bread and rolls for dinner, everything is excellent. The focaccia with tomatoes is especially good if you are there around lunch time. They have even elevated the lowly hamburger bun to something delicious. Everyone is friendly and some of the staff speaks English. Don't wait too late to go because they sell out of almost everything every day. Closed on Sunday.

Antica Locanda Di Sesto is a restaurant located on the right side of the Serchio River,in the outskirts of Lucca. The Building dates back to the 1368, as the marble stone in front of the restaurant says, a period when the local merchants started to build their own country estates, used to relax and chill out in the summer but also to gain business profits. From the XIV Century the village of Sesto was property of the "De Nobili" Family and they had, according to various rumors, 101 farmers working only for them in the village. It is thanks to this powerful family that the "Locanda" was built, and even now you can see the remains of the old building inside the restaurant. *We now offer a free shuttle service from Lucca town centre*
We have eaten here many times in the past - it has always been our restaurant of choice when staying in Lucca - we have also sent other people to eat there. The homemade pasta & papa pommadoro soup are excellent as is the brick chicken. However on this occasion my husband's fillet steak was not the best cut & had a fair amount of gristle in it - a real shame as we love this restaurant. The vin santo with home made cantucci is really good & the house wine (maolina) is excellent. We will revisit next time we're in Lucca & hope the steak was a hiccup! You can book online but ignore the timings before 8 pm as the restaurant does not open until 8 pm!!!!!

Villa Bongi is located about 7 km from the walls of Lucca in an old farmhouse that in the past has served as a convent, a summer retreat and even as a refuge for locals during the Second World War. The menu comprises a mix of modern and traditional Tuscan cuisine with a focus on fresh seasonal ingredients. The wine list includes a wide selection of local and Tuscan wines as well as some of Italy's finest drops. The restaurant is closed on tuesday.
This restaurant is located in old, beautiful toscan Villa surrounded by forrest hills few kilometers from Lucca town. Getting to this place is an adventure itself, and the way back even bigger :-) Restaurant has short but interesting menu. Dishes are very tasty and served in beautiful way. Staff is very professional and helpful. Earlier reservation is recommended.

Charming restaurant located in the basement of the Palace Bernardini (1580). History and tradition on local and Tuscan cuisine, gluten free proposals, private parties, groups and business meals. Cantine Bernardini in the heart of Lucca is a place where you can enjoy your time in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and where the taste of tradition is reinterpreted in new forms. The food is made with local ingredients and the menu changes according to the seasons. The dishes are traditional and include proposals like"garmugia lucchese"(a vegetable soup), tench risotto, roasted cod fish, and original recipes as "cecina milfoil" or veggy gulash. Try the "zuccotto lucchese"! The menu provides also gluten free, vegetarian and vegan proposals. Special proposals for groups, lunch and dinner. Groups dining in charming atmosphere, groups wine tastings.Wine bar, enoteca. Family parties and groups, children menù.

A cute outdoor cafe that is open late at night when everything else was closed. We arrived in Lucca late in the evening and by the time we went out to dinner, nothing was open. We strolled though the town and found this cute outside cafe that was serving great food. Louis and David are the owner proprietors and they are the only two staff. So friendly and great food and service. We went back often and it was always busy. Louis is the front person and so friendly and engaging, David is the chef. We still think about them and that cute place.
Great meal with lots of g/f choices. Friendly staff and a lovely homemade limoncello to finish. Reasonable prices too. Well worth a visit.

This is a small, friendly place. We had polenta with mushrooms that was good, some pasta with tomatoes that was a bit overcooked and bland plus some really good ravioli. Not a bad dinner at all, but considering the high rating on Tripadvisor I guess we were a bit disappointed. When we were ordering our food, a pretty girl walked by our table and we had to repeat the order again to the waiter. Funny. This rating should be somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.

Paninoteca specializzata in panini e focacce farcite
Tiny 'hole in the wall' Sandwich shop selling a wide range of fillings in warm bread. They also have drinks and a few sweet things. We went two days running and had substantial, filling lunches very reasonably priced.Service was lovely too. My partner adored the lardo & tomatoes combination and had it both days. I had ham and artichokes one day, pork and mushrooms the next - both delicious. There is hardly any room to eat there but you can take them away - there are plenty of benches to choose from nearby!

We read some great reviews about this place and decided to come here on our last night in Lucca. It did not disappoint! We had the Nduja and Ciaccia's pizzas, both of which were phenomenal! Some of the best pizza we had in Italy! Must...MoreDear Sirs, we remember of you, you are the nice couple from Canada, isn't? Thanks a lot for your great review, we are so happy to have contributed to spend a nice night for your last day in Lucca. Best Regards. Pizzeria Dal Ciaccia

This was one of those serendipitous lucky finds! If you really want Italian food eaten by real Italians, this is the place! Food so fresh that the menu changes daily so in fact they don't even bother to write it down. We had a great choice of 4 or 5 items for each course all freshly prepared and served with not just a smile but genuine pleasure and pride by the staff. I am gluten-free and they even managed to give me GF pasta with a fabulous wild boar sauce. They speak some English and I speak Italian but if you don't, possibly best to get the hotel or a friend who speaks Italian to phone ahead so you know exactly what is on offer - then just sit back and enjoy! Great selection of wines too all at reasonable prices. Can't praise it enough - this was one of the highlights of our trip. NOTE the correct address is via VECCHIA di Vicopelago and take care the road is briefly narrow but certainly worth the effort of making the trip
