Lubumbashi (former names: Élisabethville (French) and Elisabethstad (help·info) (Dutch)) in the southeastern part of Democratic Republic of the Congo, is the second-largest city in the country, the largest being the capital, Kinshasa. Lubumbashi is the mining capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, acting as a hub for many of the country's biggest mining companies. The copper-mining city serves as the capital of the relatively prosperous Katanga Province and is near the border with Zambia. Population estimates vary widely but average around 1.5 million.

In an otherwise gritty town, this is a bright spot for dining. Our entire party enjoyed good food and drink and went away satisfied.

We had a lovely dinner with Congolese friends at this rather upscale restaurant on the Karavia Lake in Lubumbashi this week; it is near the Karavia Hotel and the golf course. After all the dust and chaos of the city, this was a peaceful and cosmopolitan respite, and we chose Seating on a pleasant outdoor Terrace with a view across the lake. The menu had something for everyone, and there was a modest selection of wines. The service was excellent, and we were allowed to sit and eat and talk and laugh for several hours. The ambiance was unpretentious, understated, and we were fairly casually dressed. It appeared that there was an abbreviated menu for lunch. The average meal including a shared dessert was about $30 (a 3-course option for dinner was $50), not including drinks. This would also be a good place for a business meeting.

I have been here via Tripadvisor to try the ice cream and o yes, this is good. Very good quality. I love my pistachio and came back twice this week.
I also tried the kitchen. Its quality and portions are very good, the chips weren't that good, some oily and some still uncooked inside, but maybe that's a Congo "thing" as I haven't had perfect chips in the DRC.
Service is excellent and even after 2 times they great you as a local.
I will try the breakfast next trip to Lubumbashi.

I had a business lunch and one colleague suggested Tony. It is located near the museum and it has a nice peaceful garden. He food I thought was a bit expensive but the quality was great. We had mezze and a nice unhurried meeting. The owner was incredibly friendly. If you come to Lubumbashi or if you live here try Tony's. I will be back.

This is a nice restaurant in Lubumbashi.
I've been only once on saturday night and there was the buffet.
The foods are good and well prepared but I would have prefered the "menu á la carte" option.
I found it too expensive for the service we had.

A good place to frequent if you want to eat out in Lubumbashi, and hanker for a pizza, soup or other western dishes. Pretty good wine selection, and the staff make quite an effort to keep customers happy.
Nice surroundings.
A little expensive for what you get, thus the average rating.

You have to know where to find the place, but it is high quality. The manager (owner?) takes care of the clients and the staff are friendly and reasonably well trained.
Buffet style, but excellent food quality and you can take your pick from western style to local dishes (including caterpillar.. which by all accounts is a distinctive experience).
Good selection of wine (mainly French) and of course the local Simba is superb.

I used to stay at Karavia hotel many years ago and did not enjoy the food or the stay. Since Accord taken over the experience has improved drastically. I absolutely love the stay and the food. The main Chef Frederick and GM Laurant is always first to greet and make one feel welcome. Frederick is an amazing Chef and quick to assist improving the experience. The food and hotel prices has reduced to ensure proper value-for-money.

This place gets my vote for the best pizza in Lubumbashi. They also have this great homemade fresh chili sauce that they bring out for the table, great on the pizza! The ambiance is nice, you can watch the locals playing tennis on the courts as you eat your pizza. The prices are very reasonable, usually less than $20 per person. This is one of the few places in Lubumbashi that I keep going back to. Recreational activities there include tennis and 10-pin bowling, if you are so inclined.
