Longyearbyen is a great jumping-off point for experiencing the humbling power of the Arctic islands. Glaciers, mountains and primitive wildlife are the main attractions here. Be warned, though: Those polar bears look cuddly enough, but they are extremely dangerous and don't take kindly to gawking tourists.

At Huset we offer both a Bistro and a fine dining restaurant. Please visit our website for more information and for Reservations.
We have visited Huset (bistro) saturday evening to have glass of wine and some dessert. It wasn’t busy, but staff was not too welcoming - none of 4 waiters reacted to us entering the place - they were just passing us acting like they don’t see us and after long waiting we managed to order. We ate dessert - that was pretty ok, wine we had was also very nice. Just strange impression from the service - only new girl (it was her first day) tried to act more friendly with us.

Come in a suit or a snowmobile suit. Come as you are! Experience fantastic meals with an Arctic twist.
Attentive service in a very nice setting. Although the menu is limited I think anyone can find something to eat. The food is prepared very well and presented beautifully.

We had two of the burgers - Svalbarburger and the Devil Burger. Generous and tasty with generous sides of french fries for 338 kr. Service was a bit slow and not very friendly but would come here again. Daily lunch special and weekly meat and fish dinner specials are available.

French menu with an Arctic view. At Funktionaermessen Restaurant wew serve classic French food, a rich selection of wine and elegantly decorated tables with a touch of class. This is fine dining at its finest.
Now. Before we go any further, you need to realise that you’re going to spend some serious money here. A three course meal worked out to be about £60 per head, not including drinks.
That said.... the food was absolutely beautiful. The service was attentive and pleasant, with a little extra treat of a glass of champagne each as soon as they discovered that it was my husband’s birthday. We each had a different crab starter, and we had our first experience of reindeer, which was tender and tasty.
Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday meal.

I'm a regular guest at this place and I'm in love with their sushi. Salmon sashimi and their special rolls. Mmmm! It's quite pricy but what can you expect when you are in Longyearbyen? Still worth it every time. I'll be back again, for sure!Thank you for enjoying our sushi! We are super happy to hear that:-)

While staying there for two nights at Polariggen, we had our dinner in the hotel itself. Their restaurant named winter-haven (winter garden) is an oasis of greens in barren-cold, rugged Svalbard.
We had cod soup, seal and whale between two of us. the Cod soup was super amazing, and so was seal. One need to develop a little taste for the whale meat. Beside the mains, the dessert was strawberry with ice-cream and cake, which were a delightfully tasty.
What scores more is the ambience of the restaurant which is a mix and match of plants, stuffed arctic animals (including polar bears!!!!!) and small colourful turkish glass-ware for adding the colour.

My friend and I had lunch at Taste of Thai, figuring it would be neat to eat at the world's northernmost Thai restaurant. None of the dishes were particularly good, the curry was pretty bland, and in the end the whole fiasco cost us over $50. Not worth it.
