Haven't been in a long time. Didn't go back as i thought the food missed the mark. Last time the risotto was crunchy and veg on top was way beyond charred. Quite burned. Thought I would Try it again.
Decor and exterior nice and right on the edge of downtown long grove.
Tables nice white paper covers.
Service staff was very good and knowledgeable. Really felt the waiter was well trained and attentive.
Bread excellent. Garlic oil relish with it was very very good. Garlic powerful. Beware if your partner not eating it too
Dinner salad was fine. House dressing very heavy on dried herbs. Too much oregano? In it. It was too thick with dried herb. Almost crunchy.
Pasta cooked perfectly eldente.
Carbonara sauce however was odd. Had very add taste that was unpleasant on your tongue. Don't know what it was but just odd. Main flavor good but had that strange back overtone that made it hard to eat.
Shared some meatballs. Gummy texture. Taste okay but gummy texture was not expected or pleasant. Could not get past the gummy ness.
Marinara sauce was average to good. Sorry. Not special and a bit too acetic for me. There are way better marinara sauces out there. Okay but I expected more.
Last thing is weirdness of kitchen setting. Kitchen off to side but open. Not open in a good way with nice stainless. It's just open. End result is you feel the smoke and steam and grease permeate out somewhat. You end up getting home and smelling like an Italian kitchen
Is it the best Italian in long grove. Yes. But not firing completely on all cylinders.
So nice setting. Great service. Food is okay but has some challenges the last couple trips.
I don't know. Average to good because it's best in long grove. but I was still expecting more in terms of blow you away Italian. Bread and garlic get top billing. Skip the meatballs. Might try sausage instead.
Homemade.
Pasta entre with dinner salad about 16. Meatballs at 5. Lasagne at 17.

I am fortunate to have this great restaurant right in my neighborhood. Stoney River is consistently excellent on service and the meals they serve.
On this visit we started with the Market (huge) and Caesar salads and they were both great. We really enjoy the little round poppyseed buns with honey butter. They pour a great Hendricks martini too. They have great steaks. I especially like the coffee rubbed filet. The burgundy mushrooms are yummy with your steaks. We were sitting in a booth by a fire which provided a very nice, romantic ambience.
It's an expensive meal but it was worth it!

Long lines. Overcrowded tables. Poorly cooked food. I have come several times before, food is usually very good and fresh.
Today the potato pancakes that came with my spinach crepes tasted like they precooked and reheated. The bottoms were burnt and the consistency was heavy and in appetizing. People were shoved in at the ends of tables and moving around was extremely difficult. I kept thinking that if there was a fire people would not be able to get out. I would come at an off time Not
On a Sunday.

Home to America's favorite Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef, burgers, salads, and chocolate cake.
Efficient service. Consistent quality. No matter what location! Try the Italian Beef/Italian Sausage Sandwich. Terrific testing beef and get the extra gravy at no additional charge. The sausage with fennel is incomparable. Great onion rings, too. The jumbo Chicago Hot Dog could not have been better. Had fries and a soda. All for $19.26. A real buy!

Portillo's ... many in Chicago rave about the restaurant. The drive-through line-ups are always long. The food: lots of its and made fresh and hot. The food was too greasy for my taste but this certainly comfort food.

Their Boston Creme filled donuts are amazing. the cream is rich and has wonderful flavor. The double chocolate donuts are very good, as are the red velvet. They make two types of glazed donuts, with the cake as my favorite. They have all types of powdered sugar, jelly filled donuts. My favorite is the blackberry. They are very generous on all of the fillings.
They bake all of the donuts on site. They are open 24 Hours a day. as this is a stand-alone facility, they have plenty of parking. 6 donuts are under $6. They also have day old donuts for 1/2 price. There is some space at a counter to have coffee and your donuts.

My twin sons took me for high tea for a special birthday of mine. They selected the Emperor Tea which was six courses and was delicious. Also part of the holiday tea was a bit of eggnog, peppermint snowballs, and for me there was a special cookie cake star with a candle in it. Sandwiches included ham, beef, egg salad, cucumber, asparagus, and much more. There was one kind of tea, a holiday blend created by Gerri. This was delicious. The experience was very lovely and while it was not like the Drake's Palm Court in Chicago, it was just as warm and inviting. I would recommend it highly for an afternoon with friends. I loved the time I got to spend with my sons in such nicely appointed surroundings and the care that Gerri showed whilst serving it all. There were lovely touches of the holiday everywhere.

Step back in time to when going out for dinner meant something really special. From the decor to the jazz music, Wildfire has the style and warmth that makes it perfect for celebrating with friends or a quiet evening for two. The extensive menu features broiled steaks and chops, wood-roasted seafood and roasted meats, all prepared in an open kitchen. Signature dishes include Horseradish Crusted Filet Mignon, Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut, Wildfire Chopped Salad and Cedar Planked Salmon. So order a signature martini or one of our many wines by the glass, then sit back and enjoy the 1940s supper club experience of Wildfire.
Happily for us, Wildfire in Lincolnshire was open Christmas Eve and we had a lovely dinner. The enticing bread basket offers small onion rolls, black bread rolls, and corn bread. We had to ask for a refill. Three of us shared the small chopped salad. I had an open-faced Mediterranean salmon sandwich, which included avocado, arugula, tomatoes, cucumber and yogurt sauce. Really excellent. For my side dish, I had the roasted vegetables, also very tasty. We shared a sampler plate of three delicious dessert selections. A great meal!

Free parking lot. Stairs or ramp to get in.
Gorgeous inside features lots of wood, stained glass, 1930's and Victorian themed glass and art work. Tables and booths available. Large space. Clean.
We visited mid evening, only two other tables were filled at the time. Service was mediocre from everyone we encountered, could have been friendlier.
Had apple pancake, large, very gooey. Asked for whipped cream and powdered sugar with it. Was okay. Ordered bacon they burned twice, charged me 5.00 for three shriveled pieces. Was not happy about that. Waitress did not take it off the bill. Coffee was very good, good temp and fresh. Menu offers many omelettes, crepes, eggs and potatoes. Only a few sandwiches. Not designed for lunches and dinners. lox available for 11.00 but did not see portion size. Tried spicy harbonaro potatoes with pico, were tasty.
Would I go again? Yes
Pricing? Okay, slightly over priced but normal for this type of location. I really loved the decor so it was hard to complain because of this.
