Recommended by a friend. We were staying about 80 miles away but decided to get up early and make the drive. Well worth it! Cafe is small but the service was outstanding and the food, homemade and delicious. I ordered the eggs Benedict, nice slice of ham with poached eggs cooked just right. The yolks were slightly runny, just the way I like them. The hollandaise sauce was light and creamy. Rather than the home fries, I requested fruit (a small up charge) for fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and pineapple. Well worth the up charge. My husband ordered a skillet dish loaded with fresh veggies and meat. A great cup of coffee with refills served often. Wait staff was professional, courteous and accommodating. Restaurant itself is clean with an inviting atmosphere. Bathrooms clean and well maintained. Highly recommend.

I have been stopping there every time I come through town for the past 4 years. Usually around 6 am after I have blown outta Mammoth early but sometimes at other hours too. Service is great, coffee too, and the bagels nicely toasted. There is a lot going on here that I don't usually have the time to enjoy but I can tell it's a fun place.

Having travelled extensively in my life, I was amazed to be served the best meal I have ever had! The filet mignon was exceptional - as was the mashed potatoes! My husband had the lamb and was equally pleased! Quaint room - obviously popular with the locals. Wall to wall carpet - never seen that before, but everything was impeccably clean.

A round room full of bric-a-brac and good solid food. Hot and sour soup delicious as is the egg drop soup. Egg rolls fried to perfection with thin wrappers. Steamed rice excellent. Overall a pleasant friendly place with good staff.Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping

I picked this spot because the restaurant is right next to my motel. I had the chicken-fried steak with mash potatoes and veggies. All tasted good and was prepared in very reasonable time. The tables are clean but limited. There is only one unisex bathroom so it is a very popular place. My iced tea was promptly refilled-I did not have to say anything.

Located next to the Mount Whitney trail head
This is a perfect cafe at the base of the Whitney trail. Service was friendly, price was very fair, the burgers were fantastic and the beer cold! (We came down to late for the pancakes.)
One note is there is no indoor seating. You sit outside so take the weather into account but when you're at the portal...why would you want to sit outside?

We stopped here because other places didn't seem open as we came through. It was later and we had spent a full day exploring the area. Wanted to get something quick and get back to the room. Well it took a while for service and a wait to get the check. The food was good though.

We stopped in the Mt Whitney on a low-key Monday evening. While the movie/photo memorabilia all over the walls & restaurant was kinda cool, this place just felt like it needed a scrub-down and a carpet cleaning! That didn't stop us from ordering what turned out to be, some very so-so burgers. When the waitress delivered our food, she asked if we wanted any Thousand Island or sauces for the burgers. I quickly responded "no thank-you" before realizing the burgers we ordered didn't have ANY sauces. (I was kinda surprised at the burger quality when the exterior signs were touting "best burger in town"! Note to self: read the menu ....and trust the TA reviewers...not the restaurant signs!:)
Recommendations: Not the place for a burger...but a cool stop if you want to check out the memorabilia and enjoy beer in a bottle.

In the middle of the rat race of traveling, it was great to stop here and have some delicious ice cream. The staff and locals eating here were very friendly and brightened our day. "Don't forget the sprinkles!" :) This place left our family smiling and is a happy memory from our trip on our way to Death Valley.

There are not too many great places to eat in Lone Pine. I am vegetarian, and this place gives you both vegetarian and vegan options. We ran Mt. Whitney earlier in the day, and we came here for dinner. After 25 miles running to Whitney summit from portal and back, any dinner would have been great, but I really enjoyed their vegan burrito.
