Nice, supper club atmosphere and packed on a Sunday evening. Food was very good. Only one side comes with your dinner, not two like most places so it jacks up your bill. Waitress was trying to get us to put their app on our phone. Please leave us to just enjoy our dinner. When we didn't want to "get the app", she seemed annoyed.

New Years Day seemed a little difficult to find an open restaurant, so we called Kaufman's Bagel & Delicatessen and they were open. You take a number when you arrive and head to the deli counter to place your order from the menu board that takes up the entire wall behind the order counter. We ordered two different sandwiches. The first was a corned beef sandwich, aka Moishe's Pupik, which came on corn rye with spicy mustard. The second was the the Skokie Firehouse Special which is smoked Turkey on chale with spicy mayo, hot giardiniera, lettuce, tomato, red onions and hot sauce. I must admit that I thought that the firehouse special would have been a bit hotter, but it was just perfect - just the right amount of extra heat. The sandwiches were ample portions. The staff is friendly and the prices are what you would expect at a good deli. Kaufman's offers a lot more than just deli sandwiches, including soups, salads and baked goods.

I had stopped by several months ago for a late lunch after a deposition. There were only about 4-5 people there but the latino gentleman behind the counter just picked whomever he wanted to to take care without asking who was next. The chopped liver/corned beef was very good although the bialy kind of fell apart. It took almost twenty minutes for my food. But, any one can have a bad day so I thought I would try it again yesterday. Only one person ahead of me in line but the same guy is flirting outrageously with a mother/daughter in front of me even though it appears their food has been prepared and bagged. He continued this for seven minutes knowing I was waiting for service. I probably still would be but a nice woman appeared from the back and took my order and she was very conscientious and helpful.
If that guy is the owner, he can snub anyone he wants, I guess but we will vote with our wallets. I won't be back. Dropped $27 on two sandwiches and again, they were good, but the sour taste over the way I was treated kind of spoiled it.

This neighborhood restaurant has a comfortable, friendly, place. It's always filled with locals. The decor is very unexpected and different from the usual. The food is always good and so many varieties. This is the "go to" breakfast place in the neighborhood. We always bring out of town visitors here.

This neighborhood favorite is celebrating its 55th Anniversary this year. Sadly, though, the Monastero family recently announced their decision to sell their restaurant and banquet hall property for redevelopment. It is set to close on November 18, 2017.
If you're partial to retro or 'old school' Italian cuisine, please visit Monastero's before it's too late. This 'red sauce' kind of place is a nostalgic trip to the 1960s. The ambience, refreshed over the years, remains warm and romantic. Not much on the menu is innovative or trendy, but the kitchen turns out topnotch renditions of classic pasta, veal, and chicken dishes in generous portions and at reasonable prices. Among local Italian restaurants, I've always considered Monastero's time-tested and fine-tuned recipes to be the 'gold standard.'
The Missus and I have enjoyed dining here and also attending various events in their banquet halls through the decades. On our most recent visit, we indulged in two of our longtime faves, Chicken Breast alla Parmigiana and Veal Scaloppine alla Marsala. For dessert, we enjoyed Sea Salt Caramel Fudge Gelato (mmmm, very rich). The food and service were impeccable. A pianist played light classical music and show tunes; on other occasions, restaurant staff sings operatic arias. The live music plus the friendliness of the staff have always made this place very special for us. We truly hope that the Monastero family tradition will continue at a new location.

This Greek Restaurant is authentic - the real deal. There are no bad dishes to be had, and all of the portions are quite big. Don’t go without reservations. There is valet parking.

Our group of 5 enjoyed our meal at Pita Inn! The food was fresh and the management addressed dietary concerns (allergies). The servings were large and had plenty of condiments. We also enjoyed desserts. Plenty of options for vegetarians!

Had lunch here today. Interesting and varied menu. Many vegetarian and vegan options. Service is good. Costs not low but not very expensive. Portions are okay but not overwhelming. Food is very tasty.
A large dining room which can accommodate many people. Easy parking. A nice experience. I would return.
