Sit on the back porch overlooking the lake and enjoy a nice lunch. A nice selection on the menu at reasonable prices. The fish portions were large and served any way you like it, fried, blackened, grilled. The special was shaved steak with onions and cheese on a good bun with home made chips.

We were visiting Lake Placid for the Caladium Flower Festival and decided to visit Cow Pie's for some of their soft-serve custard. It has been one of our favorites for years but we had to ignore the fact that "Rustic" meant cluttered with tourist-trap "collectibles" and art-work, some of the latter now hanging in our house. Surprise, it is now cleaned-up. Floors have been mopped, new paneling installed, and most of the jumble removed. The custard has now been replaced with frozen ice-cream. The flavor of the day was key-lime, which was very good.
We had already eaten at Bo David's so we did not eat at Cow Pies' II but we looked at the menu and intend to try their Dragon Sandwich in a few days when we have business in the town.

My husband first found this quaint little coffee spot.
The coffee is great and made with love.
The ladies that are there are so friendly and please don't forget to have them
give you the interesting story behind the making of this business.
I was also happy to hear how many years they have been there.
If your ever in Lake Placid, stop in, you will be happy you did.

Definitely worth a stop if in the area. Our dinner entrees included a chicken chimichanga and chicken fajita. The chicken was nicely spiced and delicious. The accompaniments were all fresh and very good. The service was very friendly. The atmosphere was casual and clean. We’d definitely stop again.

I am a Snowbird who Winters in Lake Placid for four months each year and have become very familiar with Maine Street America Eatery. The place is charming with great food and excellent wait staff. Seems like the staff have worked there a long time and have great experience. The food is excellent with generous portions. Prices may be a little generous as well but competitive. They DO NOT accept credit or debit cards, so be warned. Also avoid going on Mondays as they are closed and I have been disappointed a time or two as other breakfast opportunities in town often disappoint.

an EXCELLENT find ! tucked away in a quint strip mall. exellent food, reasonable priced
Great pasta, meats, wraps, anti-pasta, sides, with fun service. The ladies hustle with your order. If the crowd is large, the service is a tad slow. Reasonably priced, right in the heart of downtown Lake Placid, the Readers Digest's "most interesting town in America."

On our way home from Kissimmee Prairie Preserve we took a 30 mile detour to eat lunch here. Despite it's name, it is not on the water and looks out on a scruffy field. But we'd heard it was good. Smokers filled the tables on the outdoor patio, we sat at high tables in the bar room whose large windows were open onto the patio, and there was a back interior seating area. TV's played 3 different sports and the news around the perimeter of the rooms.
My husband had the specialty fish and chips and the piece of haddock was enough to feed two hungry people! I must have had a dozen and a half small shrimp in my basket. Excellent coleslaw. The waitress even asked us if we wanted tartar or cocktail sause, which was nice we didn't have to ask for the one not brought.

Authentic Cuban cuisine. We are open for breakfast, lunch and early dinner. We have a variety of coffee choices along with pastries and desserts. We have takeout and delivery available. Our menu gives you a wide variety of choices. We have the most "Authentic" Cuban sandwich around. We were voted #1 Cuban Cuisine in Highlands County in 2016 & 2017. With different daily specials, you are always in for a treat. Enjoy our modern decor with a relaxing atmosphere!
Very good Cuban/Spanish food, from this diner on Main Street in Lake Placid. Try the Cuban cafe con leche (coffer with steamed milk), and the pastries; for lunch just about anything but the mondongo (tripe) or chicharrone (hog skin with meat. Fortunately neither of these Hispanic specialties are on the menu, so you can enjoy everything else practicar su espanol.

Smoke Shack BBQ offers fresh, homemade, award winning BBQ and southern sides as well as fresh cut to order steaks and select seafood dishes. Lots of Burger and sandwich choices as well.
Oh wow!! Two thumbs up! Driving up from Miami to Orlando and got a craving for some BBQ. Saw the sign as I drove past and whipped it around. Glad I did. Nothing fancy on the inside but the food is amazing!! Loved the beans especially!! Made my Father's Day a little happier.

I've only eaten at one other GC and it was in Alaska. That one was excellent. This one seemed a lot smaller and awkward as you are constantly dodging people.
We were a party of 5 and the only table available was in the room that had 'reserved' signs on ALL tables. Another group was in there and said 'we're not worried about sitting in here. Just take a table!' So, we did. Pretty soon, an angry waitress comes to the table and says 'This area is closed!! You couldn't find a seat out there? She's pointed to other rooms with hostility. 'Ummm, no', we meekly say. It set the tone for the entire visit as we felt we were breaking some sort of rule.
The food was bland and prime rib had no flavor except salt. Even the carrot cake tasted like a cheap mix and frosting didn't taste like cream cheese.
I don't care to visit again.
